In this tutorial, I'll show you how to use line art to make an invisible clothes effect in Affinity Photo.
This tutorial was inspired by a video done by one of my favorite Photoshop teachers: • How to Create INVISIBL...
I love doing artsy effects like this! I hope you enjoy it too. 😊
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Luke! Glad you liked it. 😊
This is a brilliant tutorial, Ally. I have pondered this activity but was overthinking the process. You've made it so simple. Thanks so much!
Thank you! I hope you have fun with the effect. 😊
Thank you Ally, I'm having great fun with this effect. great tutorial
Thank you Peter! 😊
I think I learnt most of the stuff I know now from this channel
Thank you! I'm glad you're learning so much. 😊
Yes, these are cool effects. I like the TV one as well. Thanks for taking time to create this.
Thank you! I really like how this effect turned out. I hope you have fun trying it out on your own photos. :)
Thnx Ally, this is a great effect. I'm looking to buy a drawing tablet, but the choice is overwhelming. I'm surprised & pleased you only use a basic Wacom as that's the one I'm attracted to. You've convinced me. Once again, thank you.
I think you'll really enjoy the tablet. It takes a day or two to get used to, but after that, there's no going back to working with just a mouse!
Ahah - this is a great idea and most informative... some really nice tricks. Brilliant. Thanks Ally :)
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video. 😊
Thank you Allie for reminding me to use more line art!
It's so fun to use! 🤗

Excellent tutorial as usual. Bravo. Was a nice invitation to think creatively on how to use this technique in other ways ie landscapes. Thanks.
Thank you Greg! I hope you enjoy trying the technique on your own photos. :)

Loved this video and can't wait to try it
Thank you Brent! I hope your photo turns out well. 😊
This is such a good effect and I love your tutorials, so well-paced and easy to understand. Did you use a mouse? I can imagine getting a WACOM tablet would be way easier here… something I’m eyeing after enjoying Affinity Photo so much...
I have a basic Wacom tablet. I love it! 🙂
This is a fabulous technique Ally. Im so excited you decided to teach this technique as I have never seen it before. Is there a formal name for the half photo half line art style? When you do it with black lines on a white background, it might look good as a new style of coloring books. (new to me). I have a question. At 12:38 you said " make this a child layer" I don't understand what you mean and why you need to do that. If you don't tell people why you need to do something they might not know that they should do that same thing in future situations. Would you please give a little more detail? Thanks.
I don't know of a formal name for this technique, but I'm glad you liked it! 😊
A child layer is special because it will ONLY affect its parent layer. So at 12:38, making the adjustment a child layer made it so ONLY the pixel layer was recolored, instead of recoloring the entire photo.
FUN! Thanks Ally! 👏🏻🐶 Do you have and video tutorials on the clone brush? When I get it to work it's usually by accident.
Thanks Greg! 🤗
I cover the Clone Brush in my "Retouching Tools" UA-cam video: ua-cam.com/video/usrHyabHY9E/v-deo.html
And for a more in-depth explanation, I have a tutorial dedicated to the clone brush in my Retouching 101 course: courses.affinityrevolution.com/p/retouching-101
@@AffinityRevolution Thank you Ally. Such a sweetheart 💞
Please do a cd cover or movie cover with multiple layers
Thanks for the idea! 😊
@@AffinityRevolution cant wait for it thank you 🙌🏻
👍👍👍
Thank you! 🤗
Is affinity photo good for graphic designers
Yes, but depending on what you want to make, Affinity Designer might be better for you. Affinity Designer is used for vector artwork, while Affinity Photo is used for editing photos.
I would love to know how to paste into a selection. Can't find that answer anywhere!
What you need to do is Paste, THEN make your selection, and then use that selection to apply a mask to whatever you pasted.
@@AffinityRevolution Many thanks. You wouldn't happen to have done a previous video on this, have you? Because I still find this rather strange, coming from Photoshop.
@@jean_mollycutpurse_winchester The closest thing I have is this video on the pop out effect: ua-cam.com/video/_FAdcTg7dqs/v-deo.html
I don't think that video is exactly what you're trying to do, but it should be close enough to show you the general steps to follow. :)
@@AffinityRevolution Many, many thanks. Best wishes to you. NB: Have you any plans to look at Pixelmator Pro?
@@jean_mollycutpurse_winchester I haven't looked into Pixelmator before. Is there something it does better than Affinity Photo?
