I'm a gen or two older than you and for decades I've moved dozens or even hundreds of books I "intended to read." Good for you getting in there (relatively) early and working on a shelf full of treasures you've loved, rather than whatever I'm doing! 😅 I do unhaul manga and am very unapologetic about it, but the fiction, what a disaster.
I've been wanting to do a book unhaul for a good while. I put it off because I'm afraid of missing out on a book I bought and never got around to. But also, it feels like I wasted my money 😅As if I gave up on the book and burned my hard-earned cash. But I've held onto books I bought back in high school when I was working my first job at McDonalds. Haven't touched them in a decade. Feels like enough time that I should let them go. The other side of the unhaul fear is seeing the empty space on my shelves and getting tempted to fill them. Stuffing empty slots with decorations is helpful though. I've been using the library and Libby a lot more recently, which has saved me from spending money on books. If only I could just read the books I own, lol.
i know there was a conversation on consumerism when it comes to books and i had someone try to fight me on this when i said it because they were talking about owning and collecting books while i was talking how i wouldnt want to own something id never read or am not interested in, they were so passionate about it like we can't have different opinions on this matter and i was wrong ugh, anyway book unhauls are so therapeutic 😌
I like unhauls well enough, since I like seeing organizing and seeing what books the video creator didn't vibe with. It's also interesting to see how others can move books. In my country, it's a bit of a bother, so I just give them away to friends/family.
Its always good to go through books and get rid of them by donating or something. Maybe I should go over all my books and see what I should keep or donate.
OOOOOOOOOh how I wish you lived closer and that we are bookish friends that talk about books endlessly (yes, I am creepily daydreaming about a person on the internet - it's scorching hot in Europe ok!) I would totally adopt half of these books 😮💨😮💨
I wish I could unhaul more of my books, but reading mostly english language versions of books in a non-english speaking country means it's really hard to get rid of them. Can't really donate them, and even when I tried to sell them to a second hand website they'd only take like three or four. And I really don't feel right about throwing books away.
@@LynnHermione 😂 You wanna pay for shipping though? Books are heavy. I've started buying most of my books second hand online. Where for some reason I can buy them, but they won't buy them back. Oh well. I guess I just need to stuff my house full of books. 🤷
I still have a nook I bought new in 2007... I'm going to get to it... I promise! I did give Godzilla x Kong by Greg Keyes 5☆, but that's from an unrepentant Godzilla fangirl and bc the books are better than the movies.
Y'know what bothers me? When people make a big kerfuffle about a modern book maybe having colonizer themes or not having enough diversity or whatever while simultaneously insisting HP Lovecraft is still relevant, Dune is a genius work of literature, Pride and Prejudice is a must read, and Stephen King can do no wrong. Make it make sense.
BOOKS ARE NOT CONSUMPTION. BOOKS ARE CULTURE. owning books is NOT OVERCONSUMPTION. Overconsumption is taylor swift in her private jet, not anything us normal people buy because it makes us happy. It is baffling to me that people who read can apply the same logic to BOOKS than dumb sht like stanley cups. "Ew, another book? But where will you put it you already have many" is my dumb mother's logic, and she doesn't read. My dream is to own enough books to fill a entire room of wall to wall bookcases than i can leave to my children, and no internet people will stop me
Your transparency and openness is very refreshing in the booktube space 💙
🤣 "aggressively mediocre" I love that description! Thanks, I love your energy
TBH, I really enjoyed the layout of this video with it going back and forth between Rachel and Editing Rachel. It was really well done ☺
I love book unhauls!
"get wrecked, soft cover" 🤣
I love your energy and I found some books I may be interested in. So, thank you. 😁

Books are culture. Yall are so weird equating them with random objects
@@LynnHermione okay 🤷🏻♀️
@@LynnHermionewhat is this even supposed to mean lol. books ARE objects. and if i didn't like it and won't reread it, i am not keeping it.

Weird audio and visual things? Obviously your camera is haunted.

This was an awesome unhaul! I just got the villain edit from the library and I’m hoping as a realty junkie, it hits right ❤

You are hilarious 🎉🎉🎉
Rachel if you want to sell the set of the new paperback Kushiels on Pango together I Would Buy Them And I Am Not Kidding. Just saying.

I'll take them, i havent bought a new book in YEARS because in my country it's so expensive

it is still overconsumption. don't pretend publishers aren't capitalists.
Thumbs down
