with 40 years of 4A experience under my belt, one would think I'd have little left to learn, but Pixel Pedant always manages to teach an old dog new tricks. This particular series is outstanding as it instructs and informs. Damn I wish we would have had youtube 40 years ago!
Except that we are talking about TI here. They would have messed that up by screwing over the developers. Which is what they did (or tried to do) back in the day anyways.
Much of it WAS available by 1983...on a Commodore 64. It's a shame TI couldn't pull it off because commodore-land was always a hot mess when it came to I/O and expansion.
That's an interesting idea! It'd be nice to have another place to get feedback and talk about this stuff. That being said, there's already a TI-99 discord group, so I'm less motivated to create another for that fact.
Yup, there are a couple different implementations of Forth for the TI-99. The one that gets the most attention in terms of support and development is fbForth from Lee Stewart: atariage.com/forums/topic/210660-fbforth-ti-forth-with-file-based-block-io-post-1-updated-04132021/
Really calling CALL LINK routines as BASIC or XB is making the claim XB is assembly but honestly it is just access to Assembly as not easy to use or really XB or Basic. Yea it is cool to use CALL LINK but is it really BASIC or XB anymore? Prefect example just a console and cart does it work? No then it is not Basic or XB anymore.

I've really been enjoying your latest videos covering all of these BASIC language options and features. Hoping you keep going!
Learning a lot about the TI and practical presentation of it!
Keep it up!
Super cool video, I love my TI-99 4/a!
Its amazing what the ti99 can do
Thanks for the demo. I have had GEM for a few weeks now, and this shows how to use it.
Thanks for the video! Looking forward to your next iteration...
Most excellent video!
Imagine if all these features were available to users in 1981? The TI could have ruled the market.
I knew back then that the TI was capable of more.

Have you thought about starting your own TI based Discord server?

Wonder if anyone has continued to work on Forth for this? It's supposed to be faster/more efficient than BASIC

Hans there had been making some, most recently.
You can either wait on Matthew180 for the MKII or build your own. I'm waiting on the MKII at the moment.

I had to add this comment: your new intro is Fake. No way you really used that controller!!!
Sadly, I did way too much back in the day. It took me far too long to see the light, and accept that keyboard is the way to go :P
