I hate it so much when everyone is like "this was just...so sad", seroisly he chose to go into this state and even now he says that the whole experience (1993-1997) was somthing that he really needed to do as a person. John states that during that time he was traveling into himself and figuring his spirituality out and how he fit into it all. Even though he is glad hes out of that place, he says it was the best thing he ever did and enabled him to be who he is now. He does not regret it.
anyone who loves his music should be immensely happy to see him alive and healthy now...plus, he's more creative now than ever. but, there's something about that draw to the dark side that is so seductive to creative people. it's interesting. he'd be the first to admit to that, im sure. that thing he said about reading about bowie and other 603/70s musicians taking drugs when you yourself are out, to live vicariously through them..totally have done that. weird times. :/ happy he's doing well now
@JuliusGulius It's when sayin "a useless piece of shit who doesn't contribute to society'blah blah blah" is where we are wrong not the "name of himself" part. Is this what you meant?
This isn't rock n roll.. This videos clearly is a low point in John's life, he's one of the most gifted musicians of our time but he took the wrong path somewhere down the line. This is actually really sad and painful to watch. Rock n Roll isn't about the drugs and booze.. It's all about the music and its rebellious nature.. Basically what I'm trying to say is you don't have to be a drug addict to be a rock star.. The good thing is he seems okay now and back with the RHCP hopefully making some more of that beautiful music...
Daanesh Sharma Don’t get me wrong, I know people can be great at whatever without drugs and I’m not trying to glorify drug use in anyway but with that said, I’ve thought a lot lately about what RHCP would be without the extensive drug use. It was such big part of all of them at one point or another and before they were (IMO) writing really good melodic songs they were putting on shows with fast paced unique sounding music. I feel like in their case drugs actually had a huge part in what made them what/who they are
the most fucked up thing is, you will pass 10 John Frusciante's on your way to work and say what a useless piece of shit who doesn't contribute to society'blah blah blah, but if he has a name for himself, he instantly becomes a misunderstood artist who doesnt fit into our society because he is to brilliant.
@thramagen news flash, if John frusciante didn't have the good fortune that he had, and never became part of the red hot chili peppers, he would have been homeless, look at him in this video, I'm a huge john frusciante fan don't get me wrong, but allot of homeless people are wasted talent, not everyone who is a brilliant artist gets discovered for their talent
I hope more of his art from this time will be released, but I doubt it. There was a fire in his apartment and a lot of his guitars, notebooks and recordings were destroyed. He says in an old interview that he also gave some of his early recordings dating back to his teenage years to a friend and they got lost. Bummer.
@JuliusGulius I completely understand your point, but I'm of the opinion that in John's case specifically the reason he got into drugs was because he was with the Chilis. I remember reading somewhere that he was fairly clean until he realized that Flea was shooting up before every concert, after which he decided to join in.
He was in such pain, So Glad that he turned his Life around. He actually inspired me to pick up the guitar and give it a shot. Anthony used to Bully him so much, not sure if that's what lead him down that path of using, but I'm sure it didn't help
Remember he fell into a pretty deep depression after the Chili Peppers where he thought he was a terrible guitar player/musician and thought he would never be able to play so he focused on painting instead. So he was pretty rusty up until Californication came out.

Imagine how difficult it is for him to watch this
My thoughts:( heartbreaking
anyone who loves his music should be immensely happy to see him alive and healthy now...plus, he's more creative now than ever. but, there's something about that draw to the dark side that is so seductive to creative people. it's interesting. he'd be the first to admit to that, im sure. that thing he said about reading about bowie and other 603/70s musicians taking drugs when you yourself are out, to live vicariously through them..totally have done that. weird times. :/ happy he's doing well now
@JuliusGulius It's when sayin "a useless piece of shit who doesn't contribute to society'blah blah blah" is where we are wrong not the "name of himself" part. Is this what you meant?
1:34 it's all gibberish. this is sad to watch. when you're chronically high, you think you're a genius/
Slipped into another dimension there..
The genius behind RHCP
Doesn't get much more rock and roll than this.
Yea, if RR is a life of misery and pain, and two steps away from death.
I feel like in their case drugs actually had a huge part in what made them what/who they are
so so sad to see how much emotional pain this man was in.
“I was happy when I was on stage and I was looking at flea, or was looking at chad…”
Guess who the problem was?
Mathematics LOL
It makes more sense if you take your face out of your ass
Idiot
the most fucked up thing is, you will pass 10 John Frusciante's on your way to work and say what a useless piece of shit who doesn't contribute to society'blah blah blah, but if he has a name for himself, he instantly becomes a misunderstood artist who doesnt fit into our society because he is to brilliant.
fuck I had a really thoughtfull & productive comment but then I just slipped into another dimension
@thramagen news flash, if John frusciante didn't have the good fortune that he had, and never became part of the red hot chili peppers, he would have been homeless, look at him in this video, I'm a huge john frusciante fan don't get me wrong, but allot of homeless people are wasted talent, not everyone who is a brilliant artist gets discovered for their talent
notice he didn't mention anthony? i dnt think he wanted to work with him anymore
It's pretty sad to see a idol that way. Thanks goodness he's turned his life around.
I hope more of his art from this time will be released, but I doubt it. There was a fire in his apartment and a lot of his guitars, notebooks and recordings were destroyed. He says in an old interview that he also gave some of his early recordings dating back to his teenage years to a friend and they got lost. Bummer.
it's so sad seeing John like this
man its so fucking sad how bad he got, I'm so glad he has better times ahead.
this interview is very disturbing but somehow, quite beautiful
damn he looks fucking hot in this
@JuliusGulius I completely understand your point, but I'm of the opinion that in John's case specifically the reason he got into drugs was because he was with the Chilis. I remember reading somewhere that he was fairly clean until he realized that Flea was shooting up before every concert, after which he decided to join in.
It’s great that he is ok and he back with rhcp can’t wait to here the new album
‘cus i like playing with you’ i understand that. you appreciate the company, everything else is painful
its so good to seee him recovered and writing agian
He was in such pain, So Glad that he turned his Life around. He actually inspired me to pick up the guitar and give it a shot. Anthony used to Bully him so much, not sure if that's what lead him down that path of using, but I'm sure it didn't help
Poor guy!! I think his own heart breaks, when he sees this!!!!
Remember he fell into a pretty deep depression after the Chili Peppers where he thought he was a terrible guitar player/musician and thought he would never be able to play so he focused on painting instead. So he was pretty rusty up until Californication came out.
man....this interview both scares and depresses the hell out of me.
