Poor Tom. In a previous interview, he talked about how much he liked Kristen and had a crush on her in the previous Tobey movies and then she hated on him for no reason. He even said he liked the originals a ton and Mguire’s Spiderman 2 was like his fav movie. Poor guy

I don't think people realize that Kirsten was critical of this franchise because she was asked this question over and over again and she got fed up with it. When the first reboot came out in 2012, she was very enthusiastic about it and was excited for both Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone and supported them in several interviews including a very vocal one on The View back in 2011. After the second reboot, she kept on getting the same question over and over again so no wonder she got fed up with it, especially when the press didn't harass neither James Franco nor Tobey Mcguire about it.

Bethany Porter Homecoming was a joke and nothing else. It is nowhere near the original trilogy. Just insert humor in every sentence and thats it, audience goes wild. There is not a single sequence that is memorable in the movie. In whole movie Peter has no motivation for being Spiderman except to impress Tony Stark. It also ruined character of Flash Thompson. Vulture is the only saving grace of this movie. Sadly, it exploited Spidey (my favourite superhero) for me.

Rajat Gupta you have to be fair judging the 2 films. The original trilogy had the whole story to exploit and was not restricted or binded by any obligations, producers had the time and right to push it as far as it can go. Whereas the Homecoming is placed in the middle of Civil War and Infinity War, and Spiderman being only one of the newly introduced character in an enormous franchies, how do you expect them to out-plot the previous three movies in one?
The Homecoming only focused on the time span where Peter (15 years old) starts to get involved with the Avengers, and Tom Holland had to represent the character's depth (his uncle's death, his changes, inner conflicts etc) without any of that being displayed. And he did a fine job given such difficult tasks and limited time. Besides, Spiderman has always been a witty and humorous character, I do not see the addition of these as negative. It is in fact one of the few things the trilogy lacked.

Loyalist For Life But Studios paying very lil money on it. Sony did payed a lot for the fans. You can really see the detail on the action scenes. While when it came to Marvel..the technical graphics part were poor comparing old movies. Not even one great action scene in homecoming!

I think Tom Holland enjoys it, and all the other characters in the 2017 version look like they’re having a good time whereas the 2002 cast didn’t really look like they were happy about it, like they just see it as an everyday job, but it doesn’t stop the old one from being good I just prefer the new version
While i did enjoy the original Spiderman movies, this is by far the best Spiderman to date. Holland is both a great Peter Parker, and a great Spiderman. Idk why she feels entitled to say 'theyre milking it'. Spiderman is the biggest Marvel hero IMO. Hes been making money long before the Tobey Mcguire Spiderman movies and will continue to do so long after Tom Holland retires the role. All i see is mad jealousy from her. I commend Tom Holland for what he said. Truly, a better man than I. It takes a real heart of gold to take a comment of pure vitriol and shower it with kindness and indifference. That being said, her opinion was extremely close minded and down right insulting. If the movie had come out and she had still believed that the movie she starred in was the best movie of all I would have been fine with it, but the fact that the movie hadn't come out and she just assumed that the original was superior is extremely close minded and arrogant. I think Kirsten has done some great movies and her work is incredible, but this is arrogance at its finest. It wasn't the fact that she had a different opinion, it was the fact that she made up her mind before the movie had come out that makes what she said pretty disgusting.

Needed saving 6 times in a trilogy. Terrible acting in the first two movies. THE SCREAMS STILL HAUNT ME TO THIS DAY! On the other hand GWEN creates the vaccination to cure the city, makes sure everyone from Oscorp gets out the building risking her own life, fixes spidey web shooters so Electro can't fry them, helps spidey defeat Electro, she charming, funny and has character.

Honestly, Kirsten Dunst needs to take several seats and eat several pieces of humble pie.
Kirsten Dunst has stated maybe 100 times that if Tobey ever went back to Spider-man she would do the same. The fact that she decides to go back in this specific franchise is completely irrelevant because the reason she is coming back is because of her friendship with Tobey Mcguire. Kirsten has won many significant awards since Spider-man 3 and god knows she doesn't need the money. Her biggest critical successes came after her work on spider-man with Fargo, The Beguiled, Midnight Sun, Melancholia, On The Road, Becoming a God in CF, The Two Faces Of January and ,of course, Hidden Figures.

Not to deny the huge impact of the early 2000s Spider-Man films... but really, Tom Holland is (to me) Peter Parker finally done right in film adaptation. And kudos to him for just keeping out of the drama and letting his performance speak for itself, love it or hate it.

I grew up watching the Maguire Spiderman movies and I loved them as a child.
But in all honesty.. I can't watch them again, they feel cringy to me and I think homecoming was a better movie than the 3 old ones.

That was a very classy response by Holland. For granted, he may be doing this for money, but I do not think he is. He seemed genuinely excited to play Spider-man and that is cool. As for Dunst's comments, honestly, I just roll my eyes. For granted, she isn't wrong about the money part. EVERY movie from a studio perspective is made with the intent of producing a profit. However, here's the thing; Dunst the idea that having a profitable movie while being entertaining ISN"T mutually exclusive. You can have both. And really, Homecoming might not be the most profitable film, but in my humble opinion, it is one of Marvel's best films.
And really, she shouldn't be talking. Liz Allen was less interesting, but to be fair; she wasn't meant to be a serious romantic interest. She was so far from the actual character and was a damsel in distress. Emma Stone one upped you as a character in TASM. So with all due respect, you can have your view, Dunst, but I wouldn't be talking.

Elizabeth Banks, Betty Brant, was considered to be Mary Jane. First time I saw her in Spider-Man and I was smitten. I was like: “who’s that playing Betty, she’s beautiful.” I liked Betty Brant more than MJ.
Elizabeth Banks didn’t get the part because she was deemed too old to play MJ, even though she’s the same age as Tobey. I wonder what she’d look like with red hair?
One thing I like about Tom Holland, I can actually believe he’s in high school. As much as I liked Tobey, he wasn’t fooling anybody. Hollywood has been doing that forever though. John Travolta in Grease, totally older than he played. Kids can only work a minimal about of time each day. Just film longer, several months instead of several weeks 🤣
Spider Man Homecoming is in my opinion not fitting in this entire cash grab accusation it's really close to the source material. The Amazing Spider-Man on the other Hand seemed like a cash grab for how much the second one sucked and also fell under the pressure of too many villains at the same time
David Kotlarz The second one fell victim to the "superhero movie trap" as I like to call it. Basically, it's the result of Marvel launching the first cinematic universe that is this connected. DC initially hit that pitfall with BvS but is slowly getting better. TASM2 unfortunately was an attempt to launch a universe with only one well known character and and his roster of villains and side characters. That and... Well, let's just say that the third one would have been a bigger mess than Transformers: The Last Knight
Kirsten Dunst was one of the worst things about the Raimi movies, especially in 2 and 3. One of the worst miscasting in comic book movies.

This spider man is only 14/15 years old, all the other spider mans were 18/19. And the other spider man really don't show the struggle of being spider man when your a kid. Spiderman Homecoming surely had its flaws, but it was a good movie in general. Kirsten Dunst shouldn't really be that strict with it; in her trilogy she and Mcguire had almost no chemistry and most of their scenes are a cringe-fest.

I loved the trilogy With Kiki. She put the bar high for MJ. I didn’t much like The Amazing SM and could not sit but halfway through the sequel. I like the New spider man. Tom rebooted it pretty good. I glad he succeeded. The mid two relate to Batman and Robin that almost killed that franchise

She didn't criticize the content of this film but more Hollywood and how they want to cash in on a safe franchise instead of creating something new.
Back in 2011, when they cast Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, she stated several times that she was very excited to see what they would do with it because she was a fan of both actors.
What on Earth does independent-minded mean? The fact that there were no big drawers name wise? There were no big drawers name lies in Spider-Man homecoming either. The biggest name was Michael Keaton and nobody had really seen much from him in 10, 15 years. I don't know what she meant by independent-minded, she sure didn't mean that the I don't know what she meant but independent-minded, she sure didn't mean that her Spider-Man movies had an independent movie type budget. Hell no. I really think it is that she just cannot grasp the complexity of this Marvel Universe and the fact that new movies build on movies and plots interweave and that just was not a risk that movie companies would take back in the day, in the early 2000s. Plus if she really thinks that her Spider-Man movies were made in a magical fairy land where nobody cared about profits and nobody wanted to make any money, that's a little bit naive, LOL.
