- This short (15 min) paragliding guide is an update to the original video from 2019 and features the resort of Ölüdeniz in Turkey. This It is not a replacement to the original but covers extensive new work that has been done on the mountain during the intervening year.

Ölüdeniz is a popular destination for paraglider pilots for recreation and SIV. Many pilots take family and friends with them as there is plenty to do for non-flyers from chilling around the beach/pool to site-seeing tours in this wonderful part of the world.
The flying takes place from Babadağ mountain which has a summit at an elevation of 1,969 metres (6,460 ft).

Went up in the cable-car this time 2 weeks ago. 3 years ago I went up in a Transit bus and did the jump. Wonderful.
Two pilots collided today 20 meters above the ground in Oludeniz when approaching to landing. One dead, the other has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Looks amazing. I know nothing about paragliding, but the skies look very crowded with gliders. Is there a risk of any of crashing into each other?

Yes it is amazing and you are right, it can get busy in the air.
There are sometimes collisions but most pilots work hard to keep all round observation and avoid each other.
It's in all pilot's interest to be as observant as possible and avoid other gliders.
Question from a noob: If the parachute you fly on just tears off or just gets destroyed, do you have a safety net like a parachute or nah?? Great video btw!

The thing that we fly in these videos is a Paraglider. If anything goes wrong with that we have a parachute which is stored in reserve under the seat of the pilot or sometimes in front of them.
That will be used in any emergency.

beautiful video and well choreographed with the music !! would a pilot with only 30 hours be allowed to launch there ? any tips for getting guided for the first flight or two ? if i arrive on my own. many thanks.

To answer your question, I have seen many pilots with a lot less than 30 hours flying there, so there is no actual restriction.
I would suggest that you just get the mini bus up and try to fly off 1700 in the first instance if possible as it is larger. Just sit and watch for a while and speak to one or more pilots, plenty of English speakers, to ask for a site briefing. I have done this lots of times and there are many pilots who will be willing to help.
Most important things are to prepare away from the launch and do not feel rushed when you get on to the launch, just take your time and follow your usual procedures.

i was there late 2023, but i dont remember seeing a large flag or flag pole. Although I went up by bus rather than the lift maybe thats why?

The top chairlifts were completed a while ago but other than a few tests they have not carried passengers up to last October. The main gondola station, featured in the video was still being built at that time.
The hope is that things will be up and running this year but not heard of any specific dates.

als ich das letzte Mal in Ölüdeniz gewesen bin, war es noch eine wilde Piste rauf auf den Dag und oben warteten Bauern, die Schafskäse, Tomaten und Fladenbrot frisch gemacht offerierten.
