1993 when this originally aired and in 2020 at 52 years old I still regularly use the phrase "you put your weed in there" to crack myself and friends up. Thanks SNL and Rob Schneider!
Happy 54th birthday in 2022, NIGHTBOAT.
Ironically enough, my mom has been using this phase for as long as I can remember.
I used it on Reddit today. Then had to send the link, when they didn't get it.
I was only 5 when that aired, but I grew up on SNL VHS tapes, so I know this one very well. Even now, post-pothead that I am I'll see things and think, "Huhuh, you can put your weed in there."
Meeeeee toooooo!!! Lol but im 43, thanks ol gang!
I remember Hot Chicks where Adam Sandler played this part! Absolutely love how Rob and Adam contribute to each other's movies and work like little Easter eggs.
What does Easter egg mean.
@@freespirit7450 a special hidden treat often a reference to something.
I know right, I always love their lite Easter eggs, & using the same actors, I've always loved that about the Happy Madison movies.
@@freespirit7450 In this case it's called a "cameo".
It's a little place where you can put your weed in, man. @@freespirit7450
My parents would say "YOU PUT YOUR WEEED IN THERE" allll the time growing up & til today i had NO IDEA that they didn't make it up themselves 😭😂😂
Nah man, Dave's not here.
Watch "The Hot Chick".
I've been saying that ever since I saw this episode 🤣😂 Glad you know what it means now, welcome to the club 😂😂
My mom just said it recently, so when I saw this I clicked!
@@johnsmithe4656 that's officer O Malley....your busted!
Honestly the weirdest part of this sketch is having Chris Farley as a background actor
Christopher Barrett right
He would be in the background regularly, but it is weird.
You obviously don't know what a background character is.
If Chris Farley was still alive, I bet you Kevin James would not be in one Adam Sandler movie. Think of every role KJ did with AS and picture CF in that role. I guarantee you that they would of made a wonderful team. Image how much more funnier Grownups would of been or even Chuck and Larry lol
Man Kevin james is funnier than Adam sandler the last 10 yrs.
I love how David Spade always plays the most levelheaded dude in every sketch
He was always great as the straight man in a comedy routine. It's too bad we didn't get to see more Farley and Spade movies in our lifetime
It was the same with Jane Curtin!:)
Fun Fact:
Nirvana was the musical guest for this episode.
Great, but where did they put their weed? :-P
@@wylier i thought they were smackheads, not potheads.
"Look ma, your favourite: Nirvana"
I heard you could put yer weed in Kurt Cobain.
Yup, first episode of the season I think. 9th grade
This sketch always inspired me to appreciate other cultures and their sacred objects, particularly those that are good choices to put my WEED in.
A lot of people don’t realise this but *you can put your weed in there* 😂
Stop banging those drums!!
I'm sorry. Didn't know you could hear that
@@Tony-bp1nr "Dis be some serious shit!"
Wow. My friends quoted this constantly from like 1994 to 2004 and I had no idea what it was. Thanks, dystopian future harvesting all data and consolidating it to remove any remaining mystery!
agreed, since the internet age all true coolness has gone extinct, seeing a truly cool person is like spotting a wooly.mammoth now
You put your weed in there.
Sounds pretty benign; where's the dystopia?
haha, we always used to quote the sketch from Adam Sandler's CD with Rob Schneider in those years, "Oh man I'm so high right now!" "Oh are you? Yeah, I bet, well that's impossible, because those were just pencil shavings I put in a bag and sold to you...." "Oh....well then, it must have been all those beers I drank, I'M SO WASTED MAN! HAHAHAHA! Wow man, I'm fucked up!!!!!"....."Oh off those beers I gave you? Yeah you're pretty wasted man, but the thing is, see because those were non alcoholic beers I gave you, so you're probably not?..."
SOB you’re an idiot.
So this is where the Hot Chick scene came from lol
It was written was funnier in hot chicks haha. Maybe cuz it wasn’t live
Sbl started it but I think his friend Adam Sandler did a great job adding to the character lol. They should have had Barkley in the movie too.
russell scott Yah it was hilarious in the movie
Jordan Salley
You mean stolen
wasn't Adam Sandler working as a writer on SNL when this skit aired?
I watched this in 1993. Ever since, whenever I see a fair trade knickknack or a decorative box with no discernible purpose, I hear Rob Schneider’s voice saying, “You put your weed in there!”
Sometimes I got so creative putting it somewhere I couldn't find it.
I just finished watching The Hot Chick and didn't realise Adam Sandler's cameo was a reference to this sketch, which just goes to show how grest of friends Adam and Rob are. Also I was legit rolling a joint while watching this 😂 Class
Rob Schneider went from community college to snl thats wild
PhootPhetishPhilip ! It’s all that weed!
No talent whatsoever that's why its so amazing
He was on coach before that
You don't need any education or talent to be on SNL. That much is clear.
Smoke weed 👌🏼
Back in the day, you weren't allowed to make drug references in a head shop or else the employee could refuse to sell you anything.
nice profile pic! wire.
Im from KY. That's still the case.
They still get offended when you say the word BONG.
@@DoodlesHD719 i'll play bass, but i'm in florida
@@FrankieWashburn lmao i guess here in Cali we're spoiled. I walked into a head shop and asked where they kept their screens and downstems and he just goes "for weed? They're gonna be on this wall over here"
You can tell Charles is from Alabama, where the police officers will put you in a choke hold for weed.
Aaron F
😂😂😂😂
onlyfacts yeah he didn't say he smoked dickhead. Even if he did though, nobody deserves to be in a chokehold just because they smoked weed. Moron
Silky Johnson
He's joking

i love that he knows the cultural origins of the objects but just ends up saying u can put your weed in there😂
This was the era I started watching SNL. My late aunt would crack up so loud she was forced to record at night and watch it in the morning because she was so loud my grandma and grandpa would wake up lol. Definitely good times with her.
The best era!! I remember so many of these skits, especially this one
That's a beautiful memory, wonderful even more so to be still kept alive by you❤
Back in the day, this sketch was funnier than it is now because it was SO true: virtually everybody you knew who smoked weed had to figure out SOME way to hide it in any number of household things and often decorative items from import markets or thrift stores became the de facto stash b/c cops (allegedly) rarely looked in them. Hiding weed in artifacts was a national pastime. Of course, it didn't help since most guys LEFT their decor on the table and forgot to put it back after blazing up.
But back in the day, most people didn't know this sketch.
I appreciate the explanation :)
Hollowed out an old algebra textbook.
Theomite yeah, but we weren't stupid.
+Theomite I didn't say anybody was. Stoned, sure, but not necessarily stupid.
It's a shame that I'm a 90's kid. I would've liked to be apart of that pastime
At Christmas as we open our presents we quote this with everything!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Growing up in the early nineties with a stoner dad and a sketch-comedy loving mom who let me stay up late to watch SNL, and especially as Phoenix natives who were avid Suns fans (this was when Barclay was playing for the Suns), "You can put your weed in there" totally became a family joke from this.
Barkley was completely believable and memorized in this thing. Impressive.
Really Barkley as a cop? What’s wrong with that picture?
Oh, Bork
The quintessential SNL skit-repeat the same joke over and over again. Then do it all again the next week with a slightly different context.
I think the way Sandler did his version of this in "The Hot Chick" is sooooo much funnier!
This cracks me up to this day. I was a big stoner in the 90s and had all kinds of things to hide weed in. My friends would always say "you put your weeeeeddd in there, man." It was illegal then and we were genuinely afraid of getting busted. Didn't help that strong weed actually brings on the paranoia. Duh!!
This became a catchphrase with my roommate back in the 90s. Good times.
Even funnier in 2021. Going to jail for weed!😂🤣
Whooooaaaaa.... ok, The Hot Chick bit makes sense now haha
Just thinking that too!
When did it not make sense? Wtf?
Yeah it was Sandler taking over one of his characters
@@johnnnyyumaHe didn’t understand where it came from. Now he does.
Rob Schnider's voice in this!!! 😂
A1 😂
Sounds like he is 'channeling' Tommy Chong.
I'm 73 and use the "weed" line a lot. People still laugh. They think I made up the line.
Story in the local paper today that Schneider got the idea for this skit after he went into an African store in Rochester, NY.
I'm in upstate NY, weed is kinda treated like a hard opiate here and can confirm every headshop is chill af but pretty worried about one cop who needs to make payroll, but they don't like saying weed around these parts they avoid it at all costs usually
@Rico Williams upstate ny is a little more extreme lol
@@maxh9579 Weed posession is still very illegal in states like NY, what do you mean? Never encountered a crooked cop in the wild?
@@maxh9579 I actually know someone who bought weed from a decoy in NJ but in the east it may as well be crack and yet we have a very big crack and heroin problem in NY, go figure
hellz yeah!! buffalo here! i should check out that store
That phrase has become part of my vernacular any time I encounter a container of any kind.
I was a college sophomore in '93 this skit really resonated back then...
I met Rob Schneider, just randomly hanging out at an NYU bar around that same era. He was the nicest guy....
Yeah and if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's ass when it hoped.

I'm still using that phrase in 2023.
Oh man, I remember senior year in high school everyone was saying "put your weed in there" about the funniest things.
When Barkley was in shape..
Sir Charles
U must be 12 years old... Give it a while... Ull see
This was HILARIOUS but Adam Sandlers tribute to it in The Hot Chick was executed so much better.
This will forever be my favorite SNL skit
YOU PUT YOUR WEED IN THERE !!!! LOL I just wanted something for my mom 🤣
The difference in Farley’s weight from 92-93 to 96 is crazy. Man he was huge towards the end of his life. But the guy loved the have a good time and was a rockstar, a true comedian. He was the best!
i love the look farley gives him 😂🤣😂
THE HOT CHICKKKKKI
sreznut16 hell yes. I remember seeing this live but had no recollection of it at all but The Hot Chick is one of my go to films since 2002
stop bangin those damn drums!
i bet he has weed in the back of the store
i had idea it was related so awesome !!!
sreznut16 says you only
This skit brings back memories...absolutely hilarious!
It wouldn't be dumb to assume the store to be called: "The weed shop".
The slogan: "You put your weed in their".
Description: Items for your weed and weed for your item needs.
Strange not to see them just reading off cue cards.
Rotcod yeah back when they actually gave a shit about entertainment and werent just waiting for their agent to get them a shitty marvel movie cameo. thank you Doctor Rotcod.
Watch rob at :48
Ikr
Its the same line the entire sketch tho
Rotcod especially barkley
"it's not like theres weed in there..."
"What is this?"
" *Weed* "
One of my favorite skits ever. I've been quoting it since I saw it.
Because of the sketch I've always wanted to work in some type of antique shop
You’d probably occasionally find old bags of weed, hidden in item that people sold you.
I still say "You put your weed in it" to this day.
Come to think, years later they’d put this in hot chick and most wouldn’t know
Yeah I had no idea that came from an snl skit until today
And that scene from "The Hot Chick" finally makes sense.
Now I get it lol
Wait...is that David spade??!?!? He looks like a baby😂
Yeah, if he'd just put his DOOBIES in there the Van by the River sketch never would have happened
He looks cute!
he's always looked like that. Ever since he was born.
I remember being in high school and watching this..... Still hilarious to me.
So random seeing Charles Barkley on here 🤣
i can't get over how many cool artifacts are in this sketch.
I'm pretty sure I've been to this guy store before cuz everything in my bedroom is something that you can put weed in👍😁
this is the era of SNL that I watched. this sketch is still quoted on a regular basis.
The funniest part is they everyone always acted like weed was bad even when they secretly been smoking it for years
our vice president, for example
Someone help. I cannot stop watching this sketch.
This shit was stuck in my recommendations for so fuckin long so I just gave in and watched it lol ...... again
Man idk why this is so funny to me. Especially at 1:13 when he doesn’t even explain what the object normally is
Man I remember those old day when weed was illegal
EDman00x but now it's legal in some places so buy stuff and put your weed in it
Stillllll illegal.
Steve Lethal it's legal in Texas???
Actually his joke is that he said old days like it's been legalized in the states that are now legal for years, when in reality legalization is a relatively new thing.
Got pulled over a few months ago. Me and my brother smoking a blunt in his Audi and some lincoln wanted to fuck around so. Short story got pulled over and didn't put the blunt out till the officer left his car and approached us. The car definitely smelt strong of weed but we were polite and cooperative with the officer and he let us go and made no mention of the bud. I'm sure just a few years prior we'd've been thrown into a Vic immediately
Ha! Back in the day, whenever my mom would buy me a decorative box or something like that she would always say "you can put your WEEEEEED in it!" Not realizing that I was actually planning to put my WEEEED in it!😅🤣😂
Chris looks like he could collect money, and bust heads in this sketch.
When i saw "put ur weed in it" and Schneider in shop. That movie "Hot Chicks" sandler plays this guy. So satisfying when i see where things originate from. 👏👏
I remember watching this on the first night it aired and I've been saying you can put your weed in it ever since and no one has got what I was saying been looking for this for a long time thanks
My father in law and I have been saying this as an inside joke for over 20 years. Started one Saturday afternoon while my wife and i were in college in our first apartment. They came down to visit and this episode aired on Comedy Central. It's a great gag, has millions of applications......usually gets an eye roll out of my wife and mother in law, haha.
I met a guy like this in Seattle. Instead of "weed" he said "gun". I left with 2 items.
Did you put your gun in there?
RIP CHRIS FARLEY 😰🤗❣️
Still quote this skit today whenever I find a small compartment in any random item
Come to Canada 🇨🇦 you can put your Weed wherever you please!!

I remember seeing this when it first aired... boy how things have changed around weed. 😂
There’s no weed in that box and I can’t open it lol 😂 gets arrested
Cop: What's this
Pot head: WeEd
Finding good spots to hide your weed is an integral part of the journey through adolescence.
Damn...I remember seeing this episode live. Hard to imagine this was about 25 years ago. I was 13 when it aired. I'm 38 now. 😕
Christopher Windsor RUDE! 😂😂😂 Lol that's pretty cool tho. Gotta admit
Thanks, Assholes.

Please post some of the “All things Scottish” skits they’re classic comedy gems!
I miss the days when SNL wasn't reading from cue cards, but actually rehearsed. NEW WRITERS PLEASE!!!🤷🏾♂️😥😩👊🏾
They always read from cue cards....just the older casts weren't so obvious with it..and like you said they rehearsed.
kids in 1993: fuck Im gonna get arrested if I smoke weed
kids in 2019: why is that guy getting arrested for smoking weed???
wow chris farley that takes me back lol and charles barkley as a cop HA HA HA
Hes a cop in real life oh wait no shaq is
In NYC, as long as the amount of weed was below a certain limit, an arrest almost always resulted in what even the cops called a "pot ACD". A technicality that was effectively a dismissal.
I love the one where he was a stapler
A derp!
And a carrot
I thought this was just a box in which to write your comment. Turns out you can put your weed in there.
Boy that Charles Barkley was quite the American actor
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omg! This was literally the first sink skit I ever saw back when I was 12 or 13...first time I ever saw the show!! Ahhh memories of the early 90s
That's the most leo from that 70s show thing
Ya know what I finally figured out what my cell phone is good for? You can take the back off AND PUT YOUR WEED IN THERE.
This is literally my teenage years summed up.
John Smith literally?
Classic!.....I remember us using this forever!!!! Lol.....can you imagine memes if we had them back then lmbo
This has literally became a part of my daily life to this day.
I once met Rob at a convention years ago, I had a messenger bag with me and as he signed my 8x10 I started describing my bag asking if he liked it.
"Dude, I got this bag in coney Island back in 2008 from the sideshow because I became a freak performer and the guy who sold it to me showed me these pockets and stuff, but check this pocket out, it's hidden at the bottom with a small zipper....
Robs eyes were already in tears laughing
I leaned in close and pointed snd said I put my weed right in here.
Told me I was the first fan to ever do that instead of the old "you can do it" waterboy bit.
It's funny and accurate as I knew 5 guys exactly like that. They really milked that joke as far as it could go. Squeezed every bit of funny out of it. They mashed the juice out of it, scraped out the pulp and zested the skin. Anything left in that metaphor? Bet SNL could get two more jokes out of it. Like they did with this sketch.
Very tasteful cannib-atory descriptions, well done my friend
That about the truest skit I have ever seen. I WENT into this imports shop at the mall that had similar wooden gifts from all over the world, and they all had some kind of opening in them to put your incense or, "YOUR WEED", in it...
He reminds me of Leo from That 70's Show
Is this why it’s in The Hot Chick? Adam Sandler always popping up saying “You can put your weed in there.” 😂😂
The good days of SNL!
Long time favorite SNL sketch!
