    You inspire me so much to camp. I will be yard camping this weekend. lol you are so much like me as far as being a gear junkie. I love that you are now a car camper. Totally my style. The older I get the more comforts I enjoy. This video is just what I needed today. What a beautiful spot you found. Cheers my friend.

    Michael, lovely video! The fly fishing looked wonderful. Nice to see Esme and Simon enjoying the outdoors with you. I bought a Teton cot on your recommendation and love it. I will have to try the tent on top setup! Thanks for the great video.

      Awesome! I love the Cot Tents - so much easier on the back than climbing into a ground tent. I'm still waiting for my Tenkara rods and I'm excited to test them out 👍

    Michael. do you know if you take some dish detergent and mix it with water ? About 2 ounces with 2.5 gallons of water. Pour it on campfire when putting it out before leaving. It acts as a Class A fire fighting foam and puts the fire out quicker and soaks into coals better. Just make sure you pour it on slowly or let it pour in from the sides.. I have used Dawn on mine because it is biodegradable.I It was an old idea from my Fire Department days.
    It actually makes the water wetter than regular water.. 2 oz. or just get a good foam with some water in it.

      @@TheEmporiumOutdoors Good lick. Maybe
      try 2-6 ounces if it is Dawn for 2.5 gal. of water though.

    Awesome video and camping with the Teton cot tent! Nice stove system too. Look into the Estwing fireside friend wood splitter. It’s a small, compact maul that would make it easier on you for splitting wood, ten fold better than the axe!

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      I took a look at the Estwing fireside friend wood splitter - Very interesting!! I have the Hultafors Splitting Hatchet 20 1/2 inch handle, which is similar. However, these axes can't be used for anything else but splitting. However, they are awesome at what they do 😄

    Another enjoyable video, your so lucky to live in Canada as it’s getting harder to wild camp in the UK.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Gilbert it wasn't luck! 😄 It took me lots of money and a 3 1/2 year wait to enter Canada! I left England to pursue this life style and I saw how things were going for outdoor activities decades ago. England is beautiful but if you don't have the money, the best fishing, camping and hunting is off limits.

    I've got a GoLabs 300W unit and their 100W solar panel, as well as another 120W solar panel too. I need to get myself a fridge/freezer! Good to see you were able to get out and spend some time camping with friends and those ever faithful companions. Too bad no fish this time. Next time.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Having power is very handy when camping this way 😄 Can you combine the 100W & the 120W with the GoLabs? The fridge/freeze I would buy if I didn't have this one would be the Dometic brand, but they are pricey! Was a good trip and maybe a fish next time! 😉

      Hi Brian - I buy and then sell lots of gear to afford new stuff. I also try and include affordable options as I don't think not having lots of money should stop you heading out camping 👍

    Loved the video but cringed when I saw you using the "green" propane bottle LOL. Those things have become the scourge of campgrounds. They sell refillable versions. :)

      Hey Rob 100% agree and this is the one and only one I will every own. I bought a refill hose and will re-fill it when empty! And that's a great point you raise about those bottles 👍

    Esme looks old and tired :(
    What a pity :(
    And expected a "whoof?" at 8:17...
    Thank you for videos!
    @21:23 - Mora is quite a harsh mistress for knife skills, their blades are hard enough to turn the newcomer off either when he tries to sharpen them or seasoned morakniv vet who wants moAr of Mora...
    Their "Frosts" knife worked very well in COMPLETE skinning and quartering of a boar.
    That was resharpened by hand with a diamond, but... it REALLY worked much MORA than expected for 3.75" knife. It was a bet. And skinner/flesher was totally independent, whilst being in the same hunting group.
    And for water - you'd better get a Mylar bag, it helps a lot in puncturings or when you'll need to boil the water in the bag. Mylar allows that much easier, upon the ordinary campfire.

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Well Esme is getting older now but she still has lots of go in her 😄 I've personally not had a tough time sharpening a Mora companion HD as the scan grind is easy to find on a sharpening stone. The trick is to NOT let them get too dull before sharpening! For game processing I love the Havalon replaceable blade knives. Cheating I know but it makes the job so much easier! Thanks for all the info 👍

    I love teton set up as well. But I notice your using the static v camp pad style. Do you like it better than the teton one?

    • @TheEmporiumOutdoors
      @TheEmporiumOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Hi Mike - I find them about the same for comfort but if I know I'm taking lots of gear, the Klymit is much smaller to transport than the TETON foam one 👍 BUT the TETON is simpler and won't leak 😄

    As a fellow Englishman now living out in Aus, a word of advice, the older you get the more you realize that swag's are overrated. You are far better off with the Vista mate being up off the ground for the inevitable nighttime relief.
