@Pearson Casteel Sorry for not responding to a young heart... Take my very best wishes for You in all future to come 🌹🌹🌹 Real Country Music needs enthusiasts like You so we all not forget our Country roots 😊
@Pearson Casteel Hello Pearson... Agree with You. Live version of "I though I hear You calling my name" is right on for me also 🌹 Thanks for Your kind advise .
God please continue to Bless Country music. We have lost so many great singers and a lot of the newer stars are borderline country/easy rock. Don't let them cross over.
The list of stars is long that played on that stage in the house to name. So the best is R.I.P. TO ALL AND THE MUSIC THEY HAD FOR US. God bless them all.
I believe that country legends like Porter Wagoner, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, The Kendalls, Mother Baybelle Carter, Johnny Cash and many others, are unlikely to appear any time soon, until then we need to keep all of these people in our hearts and minds !
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE The building that we know today as the Ryman Auditorium actually opened in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle. It was the work of a man named Captain Tom Ryman, a steamboat captain and hellraiser who was known for his hard drinking and carousing on the Cumberland, Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.
Back on 23 April 2005, I was so priviledge to stand on this very stage and sang two songs Little Brown Church and Going Up Home To Green Pastures. Sitting on the bench looking at the stage with a volunteer there, it was such a welcoming feeling. I miss so many singers that have once walked this Stage. I am so happy for those who have or about to walk the stage of this wonderful Stage at the Ryman. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
I find it totally awesome that on Porter Waggoner's show, the great Tex Ritter mentioned Porter's name in the song "Hillbilly Heaven," and Porter returned the favor thirty years later, with this song. Rest in peace Porter! I'm also saddened by knowing the fact that most of the people featured in this video are no longer with us.
Shame all the great Singers are gone on now..Today's Singers don't put the feeling into the sining like theses people did..God Bless them , may them sing in Heavens Choir
@@joshuabrooks4907 from what I remember being told, This song was written for Minnie Pearl and Roy Accuff (could be wrong on him) to sing. One of them was sick at the time and Ronnie gave the song to Porter. Ronnie knew all the greats .He was friends with Minnie and Roy from their appearances on Hee Haw where he was a cameraman. He then was filming most of the shows from the new opry house and traveled with Willie to film the LIVE AID concerts.

Seven months to go then it's Alabama bound!! Back to my southern roots where I listen to KAAY the mighty 1090 Little Rock AR, WSM 650 Nashville TN and all the other C&W and Gospel stations yaahhhooo!!
THANKS wow great video Have seen alot of the stars we went 2 Nashville & wwva alot us had grest ranches clubs &lounges that brovbt the entertainers to mass. Saw Porter & Dolly the most .THANKS enjoyed very .
Good video & song Done by one great artist, altho many who helped make the Opry popular were left out,If the management disagreed with an artist it showed & lasted a lifetime, example Hank SR. Webb Pierce Faron Young Three of the most popular artist ever not mentioned at all
@@joshuabrooks4907 Mandrell wasn't in it. You're probably mentioning Connie Smith who was following Hank Snow then Connie then Grandpa Jones. Guessing video made in early 1990's perhaps little earlier. Based on deaths of some, also outfits that some wore in early to mid '90s.
One day, however, Captain Ryman found God and after hearing an evangelist speak, decided to give up his old ways and soon banned liquor and gambling on his steamboats and closed down a tavern that he owned in Nashville. He also began a project that would be dedicated solely to religious revivals and activities.
But Porter Wagoner was honoring the singers who have passed away. and I think Patsy Cline was the first country singer to pass away. and Loretta Lynn, Minnie Pearl and Tammy Wynette were alive in those times. I mean, later on, Tammy and Minnie passed away, but Loretta is still alive today. You understood?
This brings tears to my eyes. We lost so many great country music stars . Country music not the same anymore.
By sitting thru this video you can see and hear that in the present day we no longer have real Country Music 🎶 Johnny From Alabama
To bad todays Opry doesn't have this wonderful music. No one can ever fill their shoes.
Amen to that, it is so true !
YOU sure got that right country music as goner to hell
Greatest song brings big tears to my eyes
I trully believe this kind of song epitomizes all the beauty and charm of country music ! It's awesome !

There's (or were) so many good country singers that it would take half an hour to mention them all (Buck Owens wasn't mentioned either).
He mentioned mostly the original singers
I love you

Porter Wagoner: The Biggest Schlong in Country Music
That's my cousin he is related to me ian
Of the people who sang along I recognized Roy Acuff, Hank Snow (?), Little Jimmy Dickens (?) and of course Dolly Parton. Who were the others?
Klaus-Peter Kubiak Connie Smith, Grandpa Jones and Bill Monroe
I believe the lady in the dress was Barbara mandrell.
Also, the first guy in the montage at the end of the video is Roy Acuff.

Roy Acuff passed 1992, I believe, so made in late 1980s

Does anyone know when this performance took place?
SO YES jehovahuponyou it really was a church and upon Captain Rymans death was renamed
Porter you forgot George glenn Jones well he was the best I like anyway.
I don't know as to whether I favor his haircut.q
Apart from Patsy Cline and Minnie Pearl, he just talks about men. Where is Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette in this history of Grand Ol opry?
