As many others have attested, I'm a Mexican-American from Los Angeles, CA... this is the song being played at family reunions when we're full of emotion after a few beers and/or tequilas... I didn't know what to expect but I was surprised by what I thought was a gringito (meant with affection) that loved some Mexican culture in of all places the Grand Ole Opry.... I'm not big on Country/Western but I knew it was probably good if not downright special... The fact that he is of at least partial Mexican heritage and from where my roots are, Chihuahua, and because of circumstances I am living in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua at the moment hit a special chord with me... It almost brought me to tears, because of that bittersweet, agridulce tone and feeling of the song, and his majestic voice and impeccable voice... Bravo, William! As many others have attested, I'm a Mexican-American from Los Angeles, CA... this is the song being played at family reunions when we're full of emotion after a few beers and/or tequilas... I didn't know what to expect but I was surprised by what I thought was a gringito (meant with affection) that loved some Mexican culture in of all places the Grand Ole Opry.... I'm not big on Country/Western but I knew it was probably good if not downright special... The fact that he is of at least partial Mexican heritage and from where my roots are, Chihuahua, and because of circumstances I am living in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua at the moment hit a special chord with me... It almost brought me to tears, because of that bittersweet, agridulce tone and feeling of the song, and his majestic voice and impeccable voice... Bravo, William!
