- I play Tony Banks' keyboard parts from "Invisible Touch" originally released on their 1986 Invisible Touch album. The track I used in the background is from The Way We Walk live album.
I used the Rhodes MK80, an Ensoniq VFX, a Korg Wavestation WS1 and Dexed. Originally Tony would have used a Rhodes MK80, an Ensoniq SD1, a Korg Wavestation WS1 and most likely a Yamaha TX7.
Recorded and mixed in Ableton Live 11.
Greetings sounds nice!!!!👍
Also, can you give any insight on how you made the sample for the bridge? That sound has always eluded me!
I found that one on a video that went through some of Tony's Emulator II sounds.
I think Tony Banks didnt play after the C minor in the beginning Verse a Bb Major, i think he played a g, not an f
Can you explain how you made the Dx7/Rhodes sounds? I can’t seem to figure it out. It sound likes strings but its layered with something else.
Is the live version half step down?
It's a whole step down from the original studio recording. This live version rises up to the original key for the last chorus.
FIRST TO PEAK (cover not the song)
Nice cover as always!
I believe the main pad sound was played on the JD-800, in this video you can see Alex Ball playing Tony's actual JD-800 from this tour and the first patch is one called IT: ua-cam.com/video/AJKAVVi6Kfc/v-deo.html
Your sound was also great though!
Thank you! It might be Tony's synth but I'm fairly sure none of those are Tony's sounds. None of the others sound right and the Invisible Touch patch is the only one that's close to anything that was played live. Besides why carve a mark for a split point into the keyboard when the song was never played on the JD800 keybed? I'm not entirely happy with my version of the sound either but it works.
