Genesis - Jesus He Knows Me Cover/Tutorial

- I play Tony Banks' keyboard parts from "Jesus He Knows Me" originally released on their 1991 We Can't Dance album. The track I used in the background is from The Way We Walk live album.
This is my first cover with truly authentic gear. I used the KORG Wavestation WS1 and Ensoniq VFX like Tony would have in concert. Only difference being that Tony's VFX was the SD submodel which only added a sequencer to the mix.
I'll soon be adding the SYS-EX files for all the patches used in this song for both the VFX and Wavestation here in the description in some form.
Recorded and mixed in Ableton Live 11.
Highly underrated song

You know this song was originally intended to be used an episode of The Simpsons in October 1995 but Genesis *refused* to give 20th Century Fox the licensing rights it seems!
what? why? which episode was supposed to be?

This is awesome!’ Love the keyboard!! And drums 🎶😊
Save me, Jesus Pad! :)
You slayed it! This has always been one of their best “fun” songs. Thx for sharing ☮️.
great arrangement...love it❤
Oh crap, now that I wasn't expecting.
“Jesus Pad” 😂
Banger
That was awesome. Would love to see some earlier songs tho eg Peter years
what WS waveform did you use for the percussion in the chorus?
If I remember correctly that one was some kind of clavinet type sound that I modified to have less sustain.
This is so awesome. How did you do the pad, because it's not a factory preset, is it?
I was looking for this sound for a pretty long time waiting for it to be very complicated to recreate. In the end all it is is the SynString patch transposed down by one octave.
The most authentic keyboardsound for the chorus on YT. Is it a preset on Wavestation? Greetz
I was really surprised that no one had gotten it before me but it's just the "SynString" patch lowered by one octave on the Wavestation. I'll add the SYS-EX files for the presets to the description. You'll be able to load those up into a hardware Wavestation and if I'm not completely mistaken even the software one.
@@GenesisKeyboardCovers Yeah, no one discoverd the distinctive Sound in the attack yet. Thx
@@GenesisKeyboardCovers In the Wavestation VST it is "Analog Softpad" which has more reverb on it. It is a great pad on its own.
@@thebod1 For the basic pad i used "RAM1 - 17 Bowed Strings" factory preload performance in the VST, removed the 3rd patch "RAM1 - 28 Bowing" and reduced the "Low EQ" in the effects chorus section to "+3". It's pretty close! 😉✌
Please do Fountain of Salmacis
Since this also says tutorial, can you just tell me… when does the snare come in ? On the 4 or the and? This is 4/4 right?
