Capcom is well known for their "Capcom Tests" This is them releasing older titles/collections to see the response from their consumers which quite often lead to a new entry of the franchise if a certain amount of sales has been met.

Personally, I feel like giving Zelda a sword would be reductive. She’s always been more focused toward magic and bows, which helps her stand out compared to Link. I’m all for the Trirod and letting her combat revolve more around thinking and planning, personally.

One thing about Nintendo's philosophy that I think is shining through with Echoes of Wisdom is the fervent belief that Link and Zelda are not interchangeable. Zelda is not girl Link. Link isn't boy Zelda. While they could just have a normal Zelda game but it's Zelda instead of Link, while I'm pretty sure many people would have left it at that Nintendo said "If Zelda was going to replace Link what would that actually mean?" While I would have loved Zelda kick ass with a sword, I do think if Nintendo wants you to play as Zelda, it's going to be Zelda and not a model swap. (Not to mention you probably can differentiate them more easily, Cadence of Hyrule for example had slight changes between the two)
I dunno if I am just *noticing shit* but this fairy character got like a tail with triangles, and you can see when Zelda uses Echo to make the water tower, and when she makes the tree blocking the wind that the tail looses triangles. I get the feeling that you'll be able to upgrade the fairy to get more triangles, and how many triangles you have, is how many active Echos you can have out on the field. you can easily see it at 1:11:00

Romancing saga 2 isn’t for everyone but it’s really good. I played it for the first time about a year ago and loved it then and the remake looks really solid. The basic premise is that to save the world from ancient heroes turned evil you play a lineage of rulers who use a magic which lets them pass down their knowledge and experience to a successor. To do this you go on quests to create alliances with neighboring kingdoms and peoples and have them join your growing empire. Pretty much you do quests to unlock items, story progression, map access, and character classes. Every couple of quests the game moves forward a generation and choose a new emperor from the classes you have unlocked. You also get cool stuff like things you develop and discover in one generation becoming commonplace in the following generation. Gameplay wise though it’s a saga game which means there is a learning curve to get past.
Aonuma has mentioned in interviews that a big reason he hesitated all these years to make Zelda a main playable character is that he viewed the proposed concept as somewhat redundant. If you give Zelda a sword, shield and bow how would that make her distinct in any disernable way. She would basically judt be link in a different skin. Gor a lot of people that's enough, they just want a female playa le character or to see Zelda have some more agency, and I agree that's important and understand why Aonuma's comment might rub people the wrong way, I think he had a point. I think making Zelda play distinctly is more creative and does more justice to her character overall. She gets to play to her strengths as a wise leader/strategist rather than having to fit into the "strong female" archetype (a mold that is often criticized for skewing too close to patriarchal views on strength). It doesn't step on Link's toes too much either. He still has a reason to exist because he plays differently.
So the reasonable, smart money is that Metroid Prime is the launch title for Switch 2, right? Like they're gonna do for that what they did with Breath of the Wold on Wii U/Switch, "sure, you can buy the downscaled, clunky version on our old system... orrrrrrrr you can buy the next installment of this beloved series in all of its splendor and glory on our new system the day it comes out," yeah?
The villain/Rival Character in the Metroid Prime 4 Trailer isn't actually a new character. That's Sylux from Metroid Prime Hunters. One of the many rival bounty hunters introduced in that title. Sylux in particular was the most mysterious and seems to have an obsession with samus and the galactic federation. He is scene follower her ship at the end of Prime 3 he breaks into a federation lab in Federation Force and now he's here serving as the main antagonist. Apparently the prime team have wanted to do somrthing with him for a long time and even have an extensive backstory drafted they jsut haven't had the chance till now
I just cannot with how the Danganronpa devs refuse to make another sequel and instead make games like raincode or now this last defense school that are just SO Danganronpa they almost feel like spinn offs or sth. Like Despair Girls is less like Danganronpa than Raincode is xd

Now Idk what this Last defense school will be like, but from what I have seen in the trailers, that school looks like a carbon copy of the Hopes Peak, and this mascot is just monokuma mixed with shinigami. Also again we have a closed off school with a single class of ultimate like students trying to survive in an apocaliptic scenario. Its like Danganronpa 1 but monokuma didnt take over and took their memmories, but is helping them instead.

I'm conflicted on the Zelda gameplay. My first reaction was basically "Oh, so the *girl* can't fight? I see how it is!" But on the other hand, not every version of Zelda is a sword fighter; plus, you kind of have to make Zelda play differently from Link because otherwise, what would be the point? But on the THIRD hand, they could have made Zelda a spell caster that attacks enemies directly, but then again, maybe I should shut up and just appreciate having Zelda be playable at all, but... AAAAAARGH, I wish I wasn't so conflicted about it, and I wish I knew if my criticisms were actually valid or if I'm just making mountains out of molehills.
I don’t know if I agree at all with the Ace Attorney Investigations 2 translation not having good localization. From my experience with it and others’ opinions, I’ve only heard great things about how you basically can’t tell it’s a fan translation with the quality of it, voice acting included. In my opinion, it’s probably the best fan translation in terms of localization that I’ve ever seen. The Japanese pun names are pretty expertly translated. I may be biased because I’ve read a lot of behind the scenes accounts from the team about how they broke down the pun of each name and how they translated it into an English pun. The difference in translation between the names “Sebastian Debeste” to “Eustace Winner” show the similarity in localization between fan and official. Even “Justine Courtney” to “Verity Gavèlle” is still just “Court Court” but even fancier. There are some names that also have a more full-name pun with the new official, like “useless winner” here and “Eddie Fender” over “Ray Shields” despite the maintained meaning, but looking at the name roster there’s a good mix of ridiculous full-name puns and names-connected-to-character that match perfectly with the spirit of previous localizations. So in general, if the fan translation were simply released as the official version, I’d die a happy man.
I honestly HATE that they reset Tom Holland Spiderman. I wasn't the biggest fan of how they were doing Spiderman in the MCU, but I liked that they were doing something DIFFERENT. I respected that. But nope, they want to have their cake and eat it too -.-

I hope with the switch 2 smash bros, they just do a mario kart 8 deluxe like improved port with some gameplay balance tweaks. ppl need time to develop an appetite again for smash after the like 5 course meal that was ultimate, honestly the generation after switch 2 would be best.

Hope we eventually get an FPS Metroid after Dread. Not just for the Metroid form, but to keep moving the timeline forward instead of overcomplicating Samus' existing life story.

I LOVED DKCR on the Wii, so I was super excited to see the remaster. I still have my original copy from the year it came out. I also didn't expect it, so it really caught me off guard
My entire opinion on Zelda will be based on 2 things. 1. Will all the dungeons have already been cleared by Link and you get to see the aftermath of him doing stuff? 2. How different it plays overall. The more different the better. Im crazy enough that I'd literally have removed picking up objects normally. Zelda chucking rocks seems weird. Make zelda so fundamentally different that you can never argue that it could have just been link. Only other thought is id prefer getting to summon good guys as units not just monsters but whatever. I just wanna boss around the royal guard.
A really solid Direct, I have to say. Lots of great ports & localization to look forward to, as expected, but also a few really good high points. I love that Nintendo hasn't forgotten the Mario & Luigi games, I love the sandbox direction that the new Zelda is going in, and _nonchalantly_ dropping Prime 4 (classic Nintendo) was just a perfect cherry on top. (Edit): also, I'm always amazed at how far developers can push the Switch, given that it's seven years old at this point. Prime 4 is visually stunning.
regarding the zelda game, the fairy has triangles floating around, which seem to increase in the game time (it has like 3 and later 4) and summoned items also seem to have a triangle floating, so I would think it might be a charge system
I'm conceptually happy about getting to play as Zelda, but doesn't look like my kind of game, not that I played more than 1 game as Link. And frankly, even if you want to do more of a wise mage, there's still more proactive things you can do instead of just puzzles. Sure, Triforce of Wisdom, but Link has gotten pretty creative and adaptive for the Tri Force of Courage, so why not let Zelda fight? Don't let cooties keep her from that. Holy arrows, divine light, and Shika ambushing. All options to let Queen Zelda fight directly. This also feels much lower production value than Link's outings. Oh, and another thing they could do is actually have the royal title mean something beyond the holy power of the bloodline by letting her command Hyrule to effectively help. For once. Loved Zero Dawn, still haven't let myself play Forbidden West, but repackaging the Horizon experience in a Lego game doesn't really get me that interested. Maybe it will help more people get into the series, but to my knowledge, the Genshin, Monster Hunter, and Fortnite cross promotions all failed to substantially achieve that. Probably won't hurt though. Maybe get more Lego kits for the series, because I only know of the one so far. What actually has me excited is Metroid coming back to 3d. I really want that one to be good. Dread was good, but I want to see the redemption of that series continue. Also, hope that gunship gets to put in some work on ground attack missions with the player at the controls.
BIG 2D Zelda fan, and the best part of 2D Zelda has always been the exploration and puzzles. Seeing them focus more on puzzles and leaning into the more open-ended solution style of puzzles like BOTW and TOTK is extremely cool! EASY day 1 buy from me imo
The metroid prime games are between metroid and Metroid 2, with prime 1, hunters, prime 2, prime 3, federation force then (most likely) prime 4. While Dread is a sequel Metroid 4 (fusion) which was a sequel to Metroid 3 (super).
I would love to play as a Zelda just blasting people with a magic sword. I was kind of disappointed there was no tomboyish Zelda since she was said to be one in Ocarina of Time, but a Zelda game is a Zelda game! And it could be a ton of fun. If there is a sandwich I can copy 🤔

If you give Zelda a sword, shield and bow how would that make her distinct in any disernable way. She would basically judt be link in a different skin. Gor a lot of people that's enough, they just want a female playa le character or to see Zelda have some more agency, and I agree that's important and understand why Aonuma's comment might rub people the wrong way, I think he had a point. I think making Zelda play distinctly is more creative and does more justice to her character overall. She gets to play to her strengths as a wise leader/strategist rather than having to fit into the "strong female" archetype (a mold that is often criticized for skewing too close to patriarchal views on strength). It doesn't step on Link's toes too much either. He still has a reason to exist because he plays differently.
So the reasonable, smart money is that Metroid Prime is the launch title for Switch 2, right? Like they're gonna do for that what they did with Breath of the Wold on Wii U/Switch, "sure, you can buy the downscaled, clunky version on our old system... orrrrrrrr you can buy the next installment of this beloved series in all of its splendor and glory on our new system the day it comes out," yeah?

The villain/Rival Character in the Metroid Prime 4 Trailer isn't actually a new character. That's Sylux from Metroid Prime Hunters. One of the many rival bounty hunters introduced in that title. Sylux in particular was the most mysterious and seems to have an obsession with samus and the galactic federation. He is scene follower her ship at the end of Prime 3 he breaks into a federation lab in Federation Force and now he's here serving as the main antagonist. Apparently the prime team have wanted to do somrthing with him for a long time and even have an extensive backstory drafted they jsut haven't had the chance till now
The Zelda game feels like its a test case in the same way that Mercury Steam's Metroid 2 remake was a test for them getting to make Dread.
I just cannot with how the Danganronpa devs refuse to make another sequel and instead make games like raincode or now this last defense school that are just SO Danganronpa they almost feel like spinn offs or sth. Like Despair Girls is less like Danganronpa than Raincode is xd

Like fe raincode even if it gets very close to that line, never really crosses it because the setting and vibe of the story itself are very different while the gameplay and formula stay the same. Now Idk what this Last defense school will be like, but from what I have seen in the trailers, that school looks like a carbon copy of the Hopes Peak, and this mascot is just monokuma mixed with shinigami. Also again we have a closed off school with a single class of ultimate like students trying to survive in an apocaliptic scenario. Its like Danganronpa 1 but monokuma didnt take over and took their memmories, but is helping them instead.

I'm confused about you saying the fan translation doesn't localize things? I mean, I'd understand if you said it doesn't do it well, but for example, with pun names, it does it plenty, and quite well too. It even inserts its own pop culture references in the text
I'm conflicted on the Zelda gameplay. My first reaction was basically "Oh, so the *girl* can't fight? I see how it is!" But on the other hand, not every version of Zelda is a sword fighter; plus, you kind of have to make Zelda play differently from Link because otherwise, what would be the point? But on the THIRD hand, they could have made Zelda a spell caster that attacks enemies directly, but then again, maybe I should shut up and just appreciate having Zelda be playable at all, but... AAAAAARGH, I wish I wasn't so conflicted about it, and I wish I knew if my criticisms were actually valid or if I'm just making mountains out of molehills.
I don’t know if I agree at all with the Ace Attorney Investigations 2 translation not having good localization. From my experience with it and others’ opinions, I’ve only heard great things about how you basically can’t tell it’s a fan translation with the quality of it, voice acting included. In my opinion, it’s probably the best fan translation in terms of localization that I’ve ever seen.
The Japanese pun names are pretty expertly translated. I may be biased because I’ve read a lot of behind the scenes accounts from the team about how they broke down the pun of each name and how they translated it into an English pun. The difference in translation between the names “Sebastian Debeste” to “Eustace Winner” show the similarity in localization between fan and official. Even “Justine Courtney” to “Verity Gavèlle” is still just “Court Court” but even fancier.
There are some names that also have a more full-name pun with the new official, like “useless winner” here and “Eddie Fender” over “Ray Shields” despite the maintained meaning, but looking at the name roster there’s a good mix of ridiculous full-name puns and names-connected-to-character that match perfectly with the spirit of previous localizations.
So in general, if the fan translation were simply released as the official version, I’d die a happy man.

The whole no they arent actually a unique species that evolved in space but a sword that was forged by a God from before the big bang that he accidentally made sentient makes the concept of symbiotes so much less interesting from a word building standpoint to me cause now all the concepts you couldve gotten from a world that would of led to the evolution of such a species is lost, not to mention the fact that weve once again gone back to the whole "symbiotes are inherently evil!!" Stuff that always annoys me as I find the trope of inherently evil species boring

I LOVED DKCR on the Wii, so I was super excited to see the remaster. I still have my original copy from the year it came out. I also didn't expect it, so it really caught me off guard
My entire opinion on Zelda will be based on 2 things.
1. Will all the dungeons have already been cleared by Link and you get to see the aftermath of him doing stuff?
2. How different it plays overall. The more different the better. Im crazy enough that I'd literally have removed picking up objects normally. Zelda chucking rocks seems weird. Make zelda so fundamentally different that you can never argue that it could have just been link.
Only other thought is id prefer getting to summon good guys as units not just monsters but whatever. I just wanna boss around the royal guard.
A really solid Direct, I have to say.
Lots of great ports & localization to look forward to, as expected, but also a few really good high points. I love that Nintendo hasn't forgotten the Mario & Luigi games, I love the sandbox direction that the new Zelda is going in, and _nonchalantly_ dropping Prime 4 (classic Nintendo) was just a perfect cherry on top.
(Edit): also, I'm always amazed at how far developers can push the Switch, given that it's seven years old at this point. Prime 4 is visually stunning.
regarding the zelda game, the fairy has triangles floating around, which seem to increase in the game time (it has like 3 and later 4) and summoned items also seem to have a triangle floating, so I would think it might be a charge system

I'm conceptually happy about getting to play as Zelda, but doesn't look like my kind of game, not that I played more than 1 game as Link. And frankly, even if you want to do more of a wise mage, there's still more proactive things you can do instead of just puzzles. Sure, Triforce of Wisdom, but Link has gotten pretty creative and adaptive for the Tri Force of Courage, so why not let Zelda fight? Don't let cooties keep her from that. Holy arrows, divine light, and Shika ambushing. All options to let Queen Zelda fight directly. This also feels much lower production value than Link's outings. Oh, and another thing they could do is actually have the royal title mean something beyond the holy power of the bloodline by letting her command Hyrule to effectively help. For once.
Loved Zero Dawn, still haven't let myself play Forbidden West, but repackaging the Horizon experience in a Lego game doesn't really get me that interested. Maybe it will help more people get into the series, but to my knowledge, the Genshin, Monster Hunter, and Fortnite cross promotions all failed to substantially achieve that. Probably won't hurt though. Maybe get more Lego kits for the series, because I only know of the one so far.
What actually has me excited is Metroid coming back to 3d. I really want that one to be good. Dread was good, but I want to see the redemption of that series continue. Also, hope that gunship gets to put in some work on ground attack missions with the player at the controls.
BIG 2D Zelda fan, and the best part of 2D Zelda has always been the exploration and puzzles. Seeing them focus more on puzzles and leaning into the more open-ended solution style of puzzles like BOTW and TOTK is extremely cool! EASY day 1 buy from me imo
The metroid prime games are between metroid and Metroid 2, with prime 1, hunters, prime 2, prime 3, federation force then (most likely) prime 4. While Dread is a sequel Metroid 4 (fusion) which was a sequel to Metroid 3 (super).
