Good light hearted review. Mr Rick Parfitt on rhythm…legend 🎸. 1st time I’ve heard it broke down like this, very interesting review. Rockin’ all over the world by Status Quo is legendary across the UK, all Europe & Asia. Quo’s biggest UK hit single, sold 750,000 copies. They opened Live aid with this, London 1985.

Brilliant! Just love your channel big man! I have heard this song over 4500 times (yes actually!) and got, as a lot of Quo fans would have, a bit bored with it. BUT! Listening to you guys break it down, gives me a whole new appreciation of it.

That was the re-re-recorded version!
There's the 1977 version, a 1988 version, a 2003 version and a 2022 version.
I personally prefer their 1988 version.
They've re-recorded this song so many times, it's hard to say which version this is! It's definitely a later one, recorded in the early 2000's, (most likely), so, with it having been played countless thousands of times live, between the original recording and the one listened to here, they've honed the sound and technicality of the tune down to what's considered pretty streamlined. Especially when it comes to the solos, (of which there are 2! One by the rhythm guitarists and the other immediately after by the lead guitarist.) The inclusion of more keys toward the end of this track, is a sure-fire sign that this is a later recording. The original version had very few keys in it.
May I suggest you look up Rick Parfitt's lick library here on UA-cam, where he analyses and plays his parts of 4 classic Quo tracks, with the camera focusing on his finger work, enabling those who want to, to see his technique. He doesn't do RAOTW, (although he does talk about the strange chord in the song in one video), but there is Mystery Song, Whatever You Want and Caroline in there, as well as Hold You Back and Rain, (2 tracks you really should react to!)
