I was there that night and it was incredible! Djokovic was amazing. To all the Serbian's haters, they have no idea what they're talking about! He's a great guy who took the trouble to come all the way from Qatar to help a friend, he behaved like a gentleman, spoke Spanish the whole time, interacted a lot with the public, he was perfect!

The fact that he is the most-hated member of the big three among the tennis fans in Western europe and North America says a lot about them and nothing about him.

I love Nole. That being said, I ubderstand ppl who thought that tennis would have this Federer vs Rafa for eternity and got c*cked by the dominance of Djokovic.
Some ppl cant deal with frustration and choose to h8

Novak gets more hate in the UK than anywhere else, but that makes sense as most Brits are covert racist and xenophobes with a superiority complex and a colonial mindset.

That's the best comment and truth, rest of the world has way more love and respect for Novak than they do.

Thank you Andy for your respect and words for Novak and Delpo. If i am not mistaken you played your last professional match against Delpo. I remember that match; all farewell matches are special, so thank you again sir

Del Potro send off feels like a sweet graduation ceremony like there’s a nostalgic feeling into it 😢

Djokovic is a complicated person, IMO. I’ve never been a fan of his. But, I greatly respected his stance during COVID. He knew what resisting the jab would cost him, and stuck to his decision. Props to Djokovic for making the trip to Argentina to help send off Del Potro. And, congrats to Del Potro on his retirement.

His mentality is foreign to US and Western Europe. Rest of the world understand him better but the whole world respect his achievements equally.

DelPo doesn't have a 'Murray type' career. Dude had way more weapons. I see him with a floor of 6 slams. Floor.

I like how Roddick was humbled and now starting to respect Novak. I dont want to say anything wrong to anyone, but overall people from US at the beggining will rather hate you then give you a respect, just because the media create theit opinion. But good thing about Americans, they dont have a problem to say they were wrong and give a respect. For expample, Europeans if they hate you, they will hate you forever, doesnt matter how good you are.
I think i also learned a lesson, i hated Roddick, but now i respect him.

Andy's very harsh on himself. I thought he played some fabulous stuff at Wimbledon 2009 in particular, very unlucky not to take the crown there.

Andy should give himself more credit than he does! He won a Slam and was world number one. Not many players can say they achieved either of those things.

TBH this isn’t even a hot take (Rafa is my all time fyi) but I think Novaks career will age like MJ. The further we get from Fed, Rafa, and Djoker playing at the same time, the more his record and accolades can be separated from the emotional ties we all have with him and other players. And even more so because of whole hearted genuine good actions like these. Sound bites clips will fade and trophies will remain.

It's interesting... that Novak made the effort to show up for Del Potro - but he did not show up for Rafa's last match after he said he would.

Rafa deserved a better farewell, a much better one... A Davis Cup match, really? If he had a dedicated event to his retirement, half the tennis world would come for sure

I never felt much warmth from Rafa's personality. When he kissed the AO ballgirl after the errant return was the only time. Most of us want to spend time with people we relate to, IMO.

Novak was going to be there. Absolutely no one expected Spain to get kicked out in quarters on a Tuesday at 00 a.m. . Horrible planning of all of that

Djoko would come to watch Rafa's match at the Davis Cup, against the next team, scheduled a few days later. No one expected Spain to lose to the Netherlands. And Djoko is not friends with Rafa. It should have been Federer there, just as Rafa was for him during the Laver Cup.

why are you FEDAL fans always so toxic? 🤔 You got to at least do some research and understand before you make such statements.

Del Potro didn't beat Rafa in that 2009 US OPEN semifinal he dismantled Rafa . It wasn't a close match. Then in the Final Roger made the fatal mistake of getting into a mine is bigger than yours forehand battle and Del Potro's was bigger. Much bigger.
