Not down on Damar, Bishop or Rapp, but I am drafting a safety in this upcoming draft. High as the 2nd round. There are some really good safeties coming out this year. We need to deep at safety, look at the injuries we had these year (and last year). Xavier Watts, you are a Buffalo Bill!
Yeah I'm not sure I'm there. Rapp has shown tremendous improvement in yr 2 in this system, and we have Bishop as that high ceiling young drafted player. If it's me, especially with the upcoming contracts of Rousseau and Benford, and the dissapointing year from the interior DL, I'm going edge/corner/IDL with 3 of those five picks we're supposed to have in the first 3 rds. I expect us to sign Groot & Benford, but we need more talent on Def. It's abundantly clear that Josh can make an offense elite with Shakir/Coleman/Kincaid/ and some decent RBs as a core unit of skill players. But it's just as clear watching the elite defenses that talent is what wins and what makes a Def elite. Especially at corner and DL. And for too long we've watched McD piece it together and have a def that is good based on coaching. Gotta start throwing some elite talent in there as well.
@@BillyBuffalo354yup. It’s finding some IDL to replace the elder guys in there especially if we still have Ed down the road. They have to add size and battle to the trenches on D. I’d personally prioritize IDL, then Edge, then CB with those 3/5 early picks
@@BillyBuffalo354 Draft. We need to use the first 2 rounds on DT, DE and Safety, IMO. Of course, you could convince me to take a CB instead of a Safety. Just lean into -what the draft offers. DO NOT REACH for a Cornerback (see Kaiir Elam) because you need a CB. Let the draft tell you which position has the best players, and go in that direction. Strong safety class in the 1st two rounds. If CB is as strong, maybe do that, but DEFINITELY be looking for DLine
I knew Soloman was pressuring QB's but was questioning how he was at stopping the run. It's nice to see he's playing that well also. Milton completed a LOT of passes. I feel like the throws frequently are out quick enough that even with a decent pass rush it's not going to get there. Where is the coverage? I feel like we used to be much tighter in the pass defense. Is that just transitioning from Hyde and Poyer and how it's going to be? Great breakdown. Really hope the defense is flying around next weekend. Go Bills. PS Did I hear you call this the Jets game twice at the beginning?😀
We have faced some of the fastest triggered QBs (Tua, & ARod both x2). Of the top 16 QBs who started the majority of their games or started in a game against us (like Mason Rudolph for example), we've had 13 games against them. 1.Tua x2 3. ARod x2 4. T. Lawrence 5. J. Flacco 10. D. Maye 11. M. Stafford 12. J. Goff 13. M. Rudolph 14. P. Mahomes 15. K. Murray 16. G. Smith The "slowest" on this list, Geno Smith, averaged 2.83 sec, .05 secs faster than Allen at 2.88. So yes, we have faced an inordinate amount of fast triggered QBs this year. And our D is a - limit big plays, make them work their way down the field, try to force a mistake in that 10-12 plays, if not, tighten up in the RZ. And you can't really argue against it considering the amount of turnovers we've faced.
The kid has great instincts and athleticism. He wasn't not getting to is in the 3rd rd had we not grabbed him. He's also very intelligent. Safety is not an easy position to learn in this defense, there is a ton asked from them. Rapp has improved drastically from yr 1 to yr 2 under McDermott, and Hamlin has also become a very high floor starter. But given the scheme differences between Utah and McDermott's system. It was always going to take a year. He's by far the most athletic guy we've had there under McDermott. He'll turn out to be a great pick imo.
Hey Erik, love the breakdown (as always). Quick question for the play at 12:00 - The opposite defender at the bottom of the screen doesn't have to worry about anybody on the checkdown, whereas Damar has two potential players in the flat who could get the ball. Wouldn't it make sense for the LBer (Fashanu) to rotate into that vacated passing lane, allowing Damar to cover the flat? And how can we be so sure this isn't some weird variation of Cover 6? Maybe I am making excuses for him, but curious on your thoughts. Thanks!
It’s a pretty simple and obvious cover 3. No way it’s a variation of C6. They are taught to respect the No cover zone typically 5 yards from the LOS. No need to fly down.
If I were Beane I would be looking into getting this QB to back up Allen, same skill set, look he's not Josh Allen, but he has the same skill set. he's big can run and has a big arm. If Allen is out a play or a series the offense doesn't change with this guy.
Erik I feel your commentary was overly critical of the rookies. The Bills roster is full of players that needed time to develop. I have full faith that the individuals you highlighted will become productive Bills with the way the team coaches and develops our draft picks. Instant small sample critiques only serves those who need instant gratification. I would rather hear about the potential versus the lack of experience they currently have in the Bills system. 🏈Go BILLS♥️💙
@ actually no. You know more about the x & o’s. I’m a senior system as old as the team. Maybe it is obvious to you and I enjoy what you do. I am full of faith and positivity. Bills fan from birth.
Great stuff as always.
Glad you enjoyed it
I like what i saw from Solomon. He's got potential. He gets good pressure . He just gotta learn how to finish .
Thanks for the hard work guys!!
Our pleasure!
Great breakdown 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
High level analysis here, thank you sir! These are so fun to watch and informative.
Appreciate it! Had to zoom thru this one.

New to these videos and really loving them. Thanks for creating and sharing!
Appreciate that! Glad you're enjoying the film room.
First time noticing background music. Great breakdowns as always.

I thought Bishop was a reach and this isn't making me feel any better about that Erik!
Great work as per usual

Solomon should use a spin move to disengage. Like Van Miller.
12:35 "This is not how you tackle at the NFL level"
I wouldn't even teach HSers to tackle like that
It's always a little bit funny to watch a NFL player wiff a tackle in a full speed sprint

Milton is 6'5 250.
I want to see WR Mike White !
Should do more swim against his blocker

Potential isn’t realized without a journey. This is just cataloging that journey and development.
@ thanks. Don’t recall you pointing that out.
@KSJ91 why would I point it out? Their film is evidence of their play, growth or lackthereof. Isn’t that obvious? Lol
