The American civil war was about a lot more then just freeing slaves. It was about control and politics. Slavery was not the driving force that started the war.

LiqurMeUp LMAO go read the documents... This isn't just speculation by historians. The Confederate states literally published documents stating slavery was the reason they were seceding.

Hello Dragon man. First time responding to one of your videos. I have responded to your daughters and your sisters videos earlier today. This is Ted from Texas. I am hoping to make it to your Museum possibly next year. That is if a war doesn't break out between Republicans and Democrats that is. I enjoy your videos and your brief bits of information on the history militarily of the United States. I too am a civil war buff. I do reenactments is a confederate general. I'm sure we could talk for hours on the history of our country. It's a shame it's is not being taught in schools anymore. The war between the states with one of the most important periods in American history only second to the Revolutionary War. Take care my friend hope to see you next year.

Declaration of Independence was signed July 4th, 1776 to show the French that America was serious and truly committed. The war itself didn't end until 1783, and that's when America officially had its independence.

It wasn't a fight against the British empire we should remember that. It was between the British and European settlers that eventually founded the country fighting amongst themselves. The British was busy fighting a very angry French man at the time and had the power to not just beat but crush the American revolution but ultimately didn't get involved.
