I went to a small college in Wisconsin as an English major, and my Shakespeare professor insisted Ophelia was pregnant. Since I didn’t see any evidence of that, and since Hamlet is my favorite play of all time, I hung on every single word until another English professor told me to not listen to my Shakespeare professor because he “was bored and has taught the class too long. He tries to tell people Ophelia was pregnant but he’s just going senile.” He basically analyzed it to the point he’d start seeing things that weren’t there, and since there weren’t that many English majors, he would just say whatever. 😂 You reading my favorite play of all time just makes this video even better!
Even though I've never seen someone reading the Bard for an asmr video (so cool!) I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that iambic pentameter works so well for whispered relaxation. Wonderfully done. I'd love to see more Shakespeare videos in the future where you talk about more of your favourite plays, sonnets, and characters. :)
Did you ever see the Romeo & Juliet movie from 1996 with Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes?? (Sorry if you actually mention it this video…I’m only a few minutes into it at this point lol 😅) Either way - it’s been a while since I’ve seen it but I remember really enjoying it :)
