The pitaroudes looks really delicious! Awesome to see how it was made in a tradional manner. Surprised to see how well your grandmother spoke English. Hope that you don't mind me asking, but how well is Olivia integrated into your family? It made the impression that she was sitting on the side and not really taking part in the family life. The views of the landscpe by the waterfall were amazing. Kalamata is known here for Kalamata olives. I hated eating olives, but started eating olives as an adult. Still not a big fan of olives, but if I eat some, Kalamata olives are my favourite.
She actually spent a lot of years in the US and Australia, that’s why she’s able to speak so well. She never went to school to learn though, she just learned it through her environment 😊 Maria’s family is lovely and they have accepted me with open arms. I actually, did try to roll the dough when we were preparing the pitaroudes but the camera was not recording 😅 Omg the olives from this region of Greece are so good! But I can definitely see how they are an acquired taste. I didn’t eat them either as a kid. They grow Kalamata olives at Maria’s village as well. Maybe next season we’ll do an olive picking video 😁
I live in Sparta for 20 years and you are true. This city never has any progression. It's like one of the worst cities in Greece. People are miserable, close minded and very conservative
It never progresses because it has had morons running the show there who can’t even do basic maintenance on the various archaeological sites there, replace road signs that are full of rust & must be over 40 years old. The road network although much improved is still in need of major upgrades.
