Thank you for backing up Gareth Bale 👏🏼👏🏼 He’s from my home town and the money he donated was to my local hospital, it’s going to make such a difference
I think my issue with the Premiere League player donating is nothing to do with the amount and ultimately donating money to a needing cause is a good thing. But what we have to remember is that the NHS is not a charity. We should not be in the position where we have to donate to a government funded public health service. Ultimately the distribution of funds to the NHS has diminished so much under the Conservative government and of course I can’t generalise or assume but there are a lot of millionaire Premiere League football players who probably voted Conservative in the past few years. Donating is great and positive, I don’t dispute that at all but it’s just a case of remembering we should not be in a place where we feel like we have to donate to support something we pay our taxes for and has been neglected under Tory leadership
I found out the other day that each district general hospital in the UK has a charity attached and has done for a very long time, I didn't know that before last week. It shouldn't be that way though.
Agreed it shouldn't be that way. However, it currently is and we are in crisis. Right now, the NHS needs our funding to get as many people through this crisis as possible. When we are through the storm, then we can turn our attention to the reason we had to get involved where government funding should have taken responsibility. But right now, the fight needs to be with covid-19
Sammy Tyler yes I agree, right now I do think it’s very positive to collaborate and donate whilst we’re in this crisis to support our wonderful NHS. Afterwards is the time to truly focus on the issues as to why this wasn’t handled better by those in power
If anyone has trouble remembering numbers in Harry Potter, most of the numbers have something to do with 7. For example, the digits of 142 (1, 4, and 2) add up to 7, and there are 142 staircases in Hogwarts. Or Harry's Gringotts vault number and the Sorcerer's Stone vault number is 13 subtracted from 700, while the Sorcerer's Stone vault number is 13 added to 700. Or Harry's Quidditch number is 7, or his lightning scar is made of sevens. Or Voldemort had seven Horcruxes (even though he thought that he had six). Also, thank you so much for keeping us sane with your videos! It's so nice to listen to you two.
I'm interested to see when the clapping for the NHS ends. Will it just peter out in a few months when everyone is back at work, or will we still be clapping at 8pm every Thursday for years to come, and our children will join us and finally ask 'Mummy, why do we clap every week?' and we can tell them the story of The Great Lockdown of 2020?!
Fun fact about "en croûte" - in French if there's a hat on a vowel, it often means that the English has an "s" after that vowel, thus the link between croûte and crust, which is similar to pastry x
I wish more people had your mindsets about lockdown and how it would be selfish to be angry about not going out. Its embarrassing to be in America with people protesting everyday...which is only going to make this last longer! That stuff aside, thank you both for making these everyday! I love watching them.
Yes, I live in Michigan. The protests here are shameful. I'm sat here worried about my husband who works in food production and whether I should allow my father to come and play with my kids outside.
Congrats on getting the Harry Potter question right, Carrie! I got that reaction out of my brother once in high school playing Trivial Pursuit. I'd told him for years that I like classical music and listened to it for fun, but he never really believed me until he asked me a question off a card that said something like This opera is commonly referred to as The Beggar's Opera. He said, Oh there's no way anyone would get that! I replied, Oh that's The Threepenny Opera. He was dumbfounded and asked how could I possibly know that??? I laughed and told him I'd just heard it a few weeks ago on the radio. It's a lovely opera. He just stared at me in disbelief. Also, he listens to classical music now. :)
i definitely needed to hear about the donation part today. i donated $5au to a womens shelter and was feeling like that was nothing and useless, but i’ve also lost the majority of my work right now.
what people don't seem to realise is that footballers are paid in the same way that teachers and doctors get paid, their tax goes straight out of their wage every month. yes they make too much money, but they pay their taxes which helps the nhs and the footballers who play for the teams in my city have been going out and helping the vulnerable in our area and they are already donating to the nhs, so it seems that they can't win!
You’re completely right Ollie! The interesting thing is, in terms of footballers, that it actually more beneficial for footballers to be taxed on their wages because they end up paying more than if they donated money a couple of £100,000. And on top of that, they are working with the NHS to donate money as and when it is needed in their #PlayersTogether initiative. Instead of people pointing their fingers at them, we should be questioning why it’s necessary for them to fund the NHS in the first place. P.s. I love these videos, and I wait every morning and evening for them to be uploaded: you’re both making lockdown that little bit easier 🥰❤️
I also got the staircase question right. Me and my friends did a Harry Potter pub quiz (before lockdown) and we won with 48/50. It was a very proud moment ☺️
I also knew the staircase answer and it’s helped me in a quiz before! I remember there was a wizard rock band years ago called 142 Staircases and the band name stuck in my head
I've been trying to catch up on all the videos I've missed and it's interesting hearing estimates of when people thought things would be open, especially now that we're nearing the end of June. Also hearing your opinions on how your government and other people are handling things is so interesting as an American viewer, because it may be bad but it's nowhere near how bad we are at it (just the fact that there are Americans who deny Covid is even a thing is baffling and aggravating to me)
I watched your evening video before bed last night and it resulted in me dreaming that I was watching this weird show and you guys were sat next to me. But the intermission lasted a whole night and we had to sleep in our seats and I kept being in Carrie’s way until she turned to me and yelled “WHO ARE YOU?” 😂 weirdest dream I’ve had in ages 😂😂
I completely agree with not judging people who give, no matter the amount! I think most of the problem has been clubs which have furloughed all their non playing staff, but are still paying their footballers full wage, but aren't topping up the 80% to 100% for those non playing staff who are earning much much less at the moment!
Good morning to you both! Fab way to start the day...could we have a few bars of something from you and Carrie at the end of each vlog...and where is Carrie's uke? 😊
I'm from Germany and I must say at the moment we're not handeling this very good because schools open up again and a lot of other stuff and it will probably be that we will have a secound lockdown which will be worse than the first one for all the small business and everything because now everyone is out again and goes shopping and stuff and I think that we will have a secound lockdown....
I just want to add to your list of good outcomes from lockdown is that we are helping the environment by staying in. Less pollution and clear rivers etc :)
There isn't a set date for the Bundesliga to start up again and when it is starting up again it'll be without a live audience and under strict testing and everything.
I got so excited when I remembered the answer to the staircase question why am I like this. (It’s acc pretty easy to remember bc I know it’s in the 100s and that all the numbers add to 7)
I love asking people that Harry Potter question, its one of my go to questions when people say they’re a big Potter fan - it’s like a test of what obscure things you know about it
Jade S I hate those types of Potter questions because I’m bad with arbitrary numbers and dates! Ask me about the plot or the characters and I’ll get it, but if it involves numbers my brain will not hold on to it haha
meghan7474 fair enough, for me it used to be part of my job to know facts like that - I’ve got way too much Potter knowledge that most people don’t need to know
For some reason...I knew how many staircases there were in Hogwarts? It was that thing where I just knew it somehow, the number was in my head. I just knew Victoria Falls cause I’m obsessed with geography.
This is very unrelated but I’ve been eyeing it for a while now and have to ask! Is that a Madame Leota poster at the back?? Can we get a closer look? Im obsessed with just the thought of this!
@@OliverOrmson Thank you so much. They always look so good. I don't like strong coffee and they look ideal. Loving the videos from you and Carrie. I look forward to watching them. Thanks again 😊 xx
One thing about the donation... totally on your side, any donation is amazing. BUT him donating a week's wage and a normal person donating a week's wage is still not comparable as you did here, as people normally can't do without that week's wage whereas he probably is still covering his costs ;)
football will, if they do it, be played without an live audience, because all big events (in my state it`s anything above 100 people) are still going to be banned until the end of August and we have not been green lit to go ahead with events yet. Small shops are allowed to open since this week under restrictions and wearing of masks is also mandatory (in my state, but other states are doing the same). Sadly, our politicians lifted restrictions against the advice of our scientist, who prefer a lift even slower than we are actually doing. I would also prefer what the scientists recommend, than lifting restrictions roo early and fast in favour of the economy. If we go to fast, it won`t help the economy, rather the opposite will happen...
I think footballers are still getting a fortune whilst their clubs are furlough’ing most of their non-playing staff. So in reality the footballer’s salary is getting propped up by the tax payer. I think that is what the minister was commenting on.
So I keep going back to old videos where you constantly rave about being in Hufflepuff and i was very proud to be in gryfdindoor with carrie. I retook the test. Turns out im ravenclaw, and I was upset but then I remembered at least I'm not in Hufflepuff
i really dont like the idea of people getting angry at helpful and compassionate acts!!! of coURSE the nhs should be fundded properly by the governemtn and tax payers but its not!! and so everything to help is doing just that - helping!! the celebrity philanthropy i dont like is rich people encourgaing others to donate when they either dont donate theirselves or avoid their taxes!!!
Thank you for backing up Gareth Bale 👏🏼👏🏼 He’s from my home town and the money he donated was to my local hospital, it’s going to make such a difference
I love watching Carrie’s face at the end when Ollie gives his advice of the day 😂😂😂
One day I would love Carrie to play a companion or be the Doctor in Doctor Who. (So long as she gets good writing)

another thing we have all learnt is that our heros are our NHS staff, carers, supermarket staff and all the other key workers and not the celebs
I learned how many staircases are in Hogwarts recently. Did I remember the answer watching this video? No, no I did not.
Another great video. I love the don'ts at the end. Carrie's face is always like 'oh god what is he going to say!' xx
"I think *most* people have handled the whole thing better than we have..." 😂♥️
Not America, sadly. As of yesterday, we had almost 53,000 deaths and almost a million cases. I'm glad you're doing better than us, at least.
