I think you nailed a few things for sure. You need to cover the rear of the transmission with something, like the bumper mount or a rear bumper. The shock caps, rpm front bumper, and the 4x4 bell cranks are a great choice as well. Glad you mentioned the trimming of the chassis. I love my Rustler and other Traxxas 2wd's as well.
I missed one critical thing, the hubs have bushings instead of beating (at least the xl5 model). That is something that will wear down over time. Thanks for the comment and support Carlos!
All good 👍 I've just upgraded mine to a little robotronic 3000kv and bearings in bushings out, lowered it a fraction and stiffened up shocks all round, and was pleased tbh its good for 32 mph gets there fast holds the wheelie much better, and the bearings do make it run smoothly, ok 32mph is never gonna touch my vxl rustler, but it's a huge happy controllable increase on xl5 12t, I must get a wider front bumper you are right it really does need it, thanks for your upload 👍🙏🐈
the rear bumper yes it protect gearbox from direct hits but as its mounted to gearbox it sticks out and get hit earlyer and sending that force eather way to the gearbox.
It has some give to it though, and it definitely provides added protection, it's not super rigid. I would rather have it on than not have it at all, especially when I land on the rear. Thanks for watching!
@@eekrc agree that it gives exta protection not going to argue against that, its nice to se we got different thougts about it and still kan agree with eachother.
Great video I have 3 of these cars including the Orange 1 u got n put back tires in the Front also spikey style It helps steering Grip drastically ❤ happy rc
I know exactly what you mean...but something is fun about the front slipping and using the throttle to control it. The fronts don't have much grip at all on loose surfaces. Thanks for checking out the video!
Awesome! Months later, gone through probably 25/30 lipo packs, it's still running great...a lot of scratches, but nothing broken! Thanks for the comment!
Great chassis to upgrade, the 4wd definitely handles speed upgrades better, but I like the challenge of driving the 2wd fast. It's unpredictable, but that makes it fun too!
i found a rustler 2wd VXL in a dumpster at work a year and a half ago. it already has a venilion motor with the matching heat sink area. i run it on 5000 7.4v 2s lipo battery. low speed is fine and once you get it to full throttle or near that it will be extremely stable on most surfaces. if you accelerate too fast you will spin the tires no matter what speed and you’ll probably lose control for a moment. on concrete or other harder surfaces you have to be careful not to turn too quickly. i took a turn way too fast on a basketball field and ended up bashing it against a pole and snapping the chassis in half
I have a newer version of the rustler with lights that are stock on it it's a t12 I think I like my lights on the front and I don't drive crazy unless it's a open field or no traffic on my street. I just have a couple if lipo 6200mah 7.4v batteries and a few of the stock batteries with a b6 charger so I van charge all types of batteries. The question I have is, is there any difference from up grading the steering and shocks or should I replace then with the original so I won't have to up grade more parts.?!
I would definitely replace the shock caps, not the entire shocks. The caps tend to pop off when you start running it harder and take jumps. The stock steering is good enough unless you bash it harder. I would just drive it a lot and you will eventually figure out what you need to upgrade based on your driving style. Thanks for watching...and have fun with it!
Depends on what you are trying to do. If you are talking about speed runs on road surfaces then no, you would want to go with a belted tire like hoons, or something like that. For off road speed the stock tires are good but proline makes better tires in my opinion. Wheels and tires can get expensive so I normally keep the stock ones until I wear them down.
I wish I did, but I don't...I don't have enough subscribers for that. I use Amain, Tower Hobbies, eBay, my local hobby store... whoever has the best deals.
I like to use my own radio and receiver on all the cars, I use a flysky gt5. The antenna isn't very long on the receiver, so I normally trim down the antenna tube so it is the length I need.

Great video, I was so surprised to see that you only had a few subs, great work keep up the grind
Thanks for the kind words...I appreciate the sub and the support!
Thanks for the information 👍😊
No problem! I figured it would help someone. Thanks for watching!
This was just what i needed to see. Thank You Sir!!!

I make my own body clips with paper clips.
Even paper clips are better than the normal body clips that constantly fall off...thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the tips. Good video!

Cool video. I'm gonna take a look at doing a couple of these now. Thank you.

alu cap and c blocks with front/rear bumpers and ur done

Bandit with ace hobby wing 60amp 4000kv combo, 31 pinion uncontrollable 75/80+.just ordered gyro. All cheap up grades banana's 😎 3s lipo .have fun same chassis.

How'd you do the short antenna? I hate how high/long the stock one is.
Running the VXL with 3s the thing rips about 65 almost 70 on warmer days.
I bet...I'm excited to get a brushless setup. How is it to control at those speeds?

@EEK! RC
I installed some alum parts for the front end to it from wheeling.
Is it more controllable now? Does it feel heavier when driving?
@@eekrc nope, just a little will do like bellcrank. Keeps the front from going up easily. I figure more metal is no good.

are the those tires best for going as fast as possible

Do the pins scratch the body with no washers used?
Yes, they do leave some scratches, but not terrible. You can use plastic washers to prevent that, I never do.
Do i know the gear box cover on the back because i do a lot of wheelies and its starting to get scrached up
Definitely get that wheelie bar...did you see the new models? They are adding bumpers/lights. The old model is on sale now cheap!
I have the same car, problem is that it keeps on wheeling that makes it based to jump. Any suggestions?
