The UK heatwave continues this week and it will turn unusually hot in some western parts of the country. Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern has the details.
Days are too hot but evenings are lovely, walking out or sitting in the garden. I keep sunny-side windows closed and curtains drawn and shady side open then swap as the sun moves and keep all open at night to cool inside. Then I hear the dawn chorus and the early shift workers driving past, and late ones driving home. Makes me very grateful.
Many thanks Aidan. What awful heat!! I know someone wrote ‘enjoy it while you can’, but we don’t get chance to enjoy this sort of heat as it’s totally unbearable. How on earth the Canadians coped with that shocking heatwave I honestly can’t imagine! I shall certainly be tuning in each day. Take care Aidan and everyone ❤️
It’s was really cool to see the zoom in on the map! I expect there usually isn’t time to go into detail for everywhere! 😊 but I really liked getting to take a closer look at what would be going on in different locations. Thanks! 😄
It’s been 4 consecutive days of hideous heat going above 30 degrees in Birmingham. It’s getting really awful. I’ve always hated the heat and i can’t wait for it to cool down
...uncomfortable temperatures at night for sleeping ...clearly no gives a hoot for the many shift workers who work nights and have to (try) sleep during the day!
I looked up plymouths highest temperature ever and apparently its 32C its weird how only 200 miles east hear in london temperatures get above 32C most years nowadays
I feel like, we've had to much heat already and some days I just can't do anything other then sit inside so I not in direct sunlight, I'm just ready fir Christmas now
Actually love it when off work with the children in the paddling pool . However when I am maxed up in plastic pinny, gloves and mask as a district nurse I can not breathe. Help!!!!!!!!
I've been notified that there's an amber warning of extreme heat for most of Cornwall & Wales ⚠️🌡 It's a good job I'm not in that area but in my location, it's still really hot 🥵
@@rityalimza3200 I can't wait for cool temperatures to cool down too! And I also feel bad for you that you're in a extreme heat warning for a few days 😞
Also when sleeping try to stay extra still, as not to get warmer, plus if it’s really bad sleep on your floor, with a blanket if you want coz hot air rises so the floor- unless it’s heated, is probs the best place to be
Plus keep all lights off and try to keep your curtains closed during the day, so that it keeps cool, also you will most definitely sleep tonight or sometime soon, as it is very hard to stay awake for more than 2-3 days in a row. No matter what the conditions. If you don’t sleep you could die, just relax put a podcast on and keep hydrated.
There's never been a hurricane in the UK; our waters just don't get anywhere near enough the temperatures needed to sustain them. '87 was just a very deep area of low pressure
@@lancem8713 I do apoligise how ever iw as not far off as this is the quote from the Mett Office its self "It was the rapidly deepening depression from the Bay of Biscay which struck. This storm wasn't officially a hurricane as it did not originate in the tropics - but it was certainly exceptional. In the Beaufort scale of wind force, Hurricane Force (Force 12) is defined as a wind of 64 knots or more, sustained over a period of at least 10 minutes. Gusts, which are comparatively short-lived (but cause a lot of destruction) are not taken into account. By this definition, Hurricane Force winds occurred locally but were not widespread."
Was 33c in the sitting room didnt wait to see if went higher. Too clammy. Shadey living rm 24c. Liverpool has quite good weather. Looking forward to a bit of thunder
We had FAR more heat in 1976. Temperatures over 32C for 15 days in succession. Tap water was rationed. It was the same process then as now; nothing to do with "climate change".
Average for this time of year is 22-23°C so we are 7 or 8 degrees higher than average. Therefore it is unusual but certainly not an uncommon occurrence.
@@lopic_david02 25c is a heatwave in most of the uk (26-27 as you get towards London 28c in london) it’s still over 5c above a heatwave and still 10c above average summer temperatures your point is useless

Any idea how to get a sleep in this weather? As my big fan doesn't do the job. I haven't slept for a couple of days now.

Open windows use a light sheet to cover, wet s large towel drape over you as the water evaporates you will cool down.
It would be good if one day you put Leeds on the map.
Snow next week right ?
I love it during the day but night time is the worst I've started to dampen my sheet and throw that on me and oh boy does it make a difference.
Sweating one out in Kent
If was too hot to be working outside today.. working on a roof.. in this sweltering heat 🥵🥵🥵
Even Scotland getting warm?!
Swings and roundabouts...we're swinging high now but the roundabout wet n windy westerlies will return
