Hey TYLER SAVILLE...straight from a Porsche Forum... Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has had similar problems with their Macans. I recently (2 months ago) purchased a 2016 Macan S (new). I have owned several porsches from a 944, to 996 GT3, Gen 1 Cayenne Turbo, 2011 Cayenne S, 964 RSA, and soon to be a Cayman GTB1 car so I am a huge huge Porsche fanatic (family has owned several others). I was pretty excited to trade my Cayenne S in for the new Macan as it was a perfect daily driver for me. Fast forward about 3 weeks and 1800 miles into ownership (I drive a lot) and my first check engine light issue started. I was sitting in traffic and I got a check engine light that said "Engine control unit failure" "Reduce Power" and an "Ok to drive". I drove it to the shop thinking it was some silly ECU issue that they would just reflash. They thought the same thing, flashed the ECU and I went on my way. Five minutes later the same issue popped up and back I went to the dealer (who btw has been great to deal with throughout the process). This time the car sat at the shop for roughly three weeks. They tried several repairs that never fixed the problem. I received a call early last week that said they had narrowed the problem to a slit in the pipe leading to the wastegate that was not allowing the car to hold boost. Simple enough I figured so I got the car back last Tuesday and only drove it a few miles without issue. On Wednesday morning, I get on the highway and while accelerating the same problem happened. Same check engine light, same reduce power issue and back to the shop it went. Still no idea what is causing the problem and as of today the car has been in the shop more than I have driven it. My dealer has been nothing but good to me throughout, and its naturally not their fault, but I am pretty bummed about the whole Macan experience thus far. It is an amazing car, handles great, looks great, quick enough and I love everything about it, but figured id see if anyone else on the forum has had similar issues. If the car stays in the shop much longer ill be working with the dealer on trading me out of it and into a Macan GTS (it was released right after I bought mine). Hoping the GTS gives me less problems.
Here's another MACAN Driver's concerns... " I do have some problems. Main beam didn't work from new and I had to return it to the garage. SatNav is very poor VW parts bin model. I've been used to TomTom and will use this instead. Phone system doesn't have voice instruction; surely a 21st century need. Sunvisors are really small and I'm going to see if there is an aftermarket replacement. I suppose the driving technology is what's important but disappointing that Porsche don't seem to have access to the best IT." UBER QUALITY MY ASS....FORZA ALFA BABY.....
The ALFA is a LOT of performance for the dollar. No denying that both cars are great, but I would have go with the Alfa. Oh wait, I DID! ;-) Got a Base Stelvio sitting in my garage right now. Ti Sport. We were going to buy the base Macan, but the same sort of reality became very clear. As a guy who appreciates a driver oriented car, after driving both, as well as an X3, an X5, and a Q7, the Stelvio came home with me, and I saved 14.5 grand over the cost of the Macan we were about to buy!
Now I know why you hide behind a moniker like "Master Card"....can't even construct a sentence !!!! WTF does this mean ? "Do you even car bro?" ??? FORSA ALFA MASTER CARD BABY !!!!
Wrong....Lambo and Bentley have no history with VW....it is only mergers and acquisitions and corporate greed.....Takeovers executed by lies and greed...
Once Andre said Alfa provided the Porsche for comparison purposes, I knew the Stelvio would win. I'd like to see a Mercedes AMG, Audi RS, or Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT equivalent comparison.
My parents are Italian so you would think I'd pick the Stelvio. Well, yes and no. Why, because I'm not sold on Stelvio's looks, which is a shame. The Germans really do understated styling with panache! Ciao regazzi :)
If I had to choose one of these It would be the Alfa and not just because it's faster 0-60 It's also much nicer esp. the exterior. Better sound, better handling
Pretty sure that Porsche could squeeze 100+ more HP from their 3.6l V6 turbo. Considering that they can get 520hp from their 'non-turbo' 4.0l flat 6 in the GT3-RS. The Alfa is quick but seems a little lacking in interior materials and quality. It would be fun to blast through some mountain roads on a weekend getaway but would much prefer to 'live-with' the Macan as a daily driver.
i just pulled up to my local walgreens near the Omni national golf tournament and there was a red Gulia waiting by the front door...we do get a lot of exotic cars in tucson so i think nothing of it but as i walk by theres an Uber sticker on the windshield the driver looked to be a 55 year old male...i stopped and stood there staring...its the same red as my Ducati
BECAUSE I PREACH THE TRUTH....I'm NOT A SHEEP LIKE ALL THE GERMAN FANBOYS... The history cannot be denied.. "Ferdinand Porsche[3] (3 September 1875 - 30 January 1951) was an automotive engineer and founder of the Porsche car company. He is best known for creating the Volkswagen Beetle" "December 1945, French authorities arrested Porsche, Anton Piëch, and Ferry Porsche as war criminals." "Anton Piëch was an Austrian lawyer and the son-in-law of Ferdinand Porsche. He headed Volkswagenwerk GmbH between 1941 and 1945, which produced the Volkswagen vehicles (KdF-Wagen) at the factory in Wolfsburg, Germany." "Ferdinand Karl Piëch (born 17 April 1937) is an Austrian business magnate, engineer and executive who was the chairman of the supervisory board (Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender) of Volkswagen Group." SHOULD I GO ON ? CLEARLY PORSCHE = VW !!! "Vittorio Jano was an Italian automobile designer of Hungarian descent from the 1920s through 1960s. At Alfa Romeo his first design was the 8-cylinder in-line mounted P2 Grand Prix car, which won Alfa Romeo the inaugural world championship for Grand Prix cars in 1925. In 1932, he produced the sensational P3 model which later was raced with great success by Enzo Ferrari when he began Scuderia Ferrari in 1933." CLEARLY ALFA = FERRARI.... I CANNOT CONTINUE TRYING TO EDUCATE IDIOTS !!!! MIC DROP ON ALL THE GERMAN FAN BOYS
@Ethan Pae ...HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA!!!! AND PORSCHE AND AUDI ARE GLORIFIED SHITTY NAZI VW !!!!!! FORZA ALFA BABY !!!! THE KING IS BACK !!!! THE TRUE HISTORY THAT CANNOT BE DENIED OR ALTERED !!! Ferdinand Porsche (3 September 1875 - 30 January 1951) was an Austrian-German automotive engineer and founder of the Porsche car company. He is best known for creating the Volkswagen Beetle. An important contributor to the German war effort during World War II, Porsche was a member of the Nazi Party, and was called the "Great German Engineer" by Nazi officials. Enzo Anselmo Giuseppe Maria Ferrari, Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI (Italian: [ˈɛntso anˈsɛlmo ferˈraːri]; 20 February 1898 - 14 August 1988) was an Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur, the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix motor racing team, and subsequently of the Ferrari automobile marque. In 1920, Enzo joined the racing department of Alfa Romeo as a driver. Ferrari won his first Grand Prix in 1923 in Ravenna on the Savio Circuit. 1924 was his best season, with three wins, including Ravenna, Polesine and the Coppa Acerbo in Pescara. Deeply shocked by the death of Antonio Ascari in 1925, Ferrari, by his own admissions, continued to race half-heartedly. Following the birth of his son Alfredo (Dino) in 1932, Ferrari decided to retire and to focus instead on the management and development of the factory Alfa race cars, eventually building up a raceteam of superstar drivers, including Giuseppe Campari and Tazio Nuvolari. This team was called Scuderia Ferrari (founded by Enzo in 1929) and acted as a racing division for Alfa Romeo. The team was very successful, thanks to the excellent cars, for example the Alfa Romeo P3 and to the talented drivers, like Nuvolari. GO BACK AND HIDE IN YOUR HOLE WITH JOSEPH AND HIS HOT DOG !!!!
Cute Vid! Now Take the top of the line Porsche to race with top of line Alfa! The Turbo S would destroy the ALfa thats why. Then test them on the track and the Alfa would look even worse!
Do you need to be fastest to get to the supermarket? What is far more important is how well your money is spent. Porsche ranks near top for reliability. Alfa is so low it almost isn’t on the scale. There’s a reason Italian cars disappeared from the USA market for a long time - and those reasons still exist. As sexy as it may seem, I wouldn’t want the Alfa even if it was gifted to me.
quality and techonlogy la better i macan. the macan is the suv n1 so behind alfa you will find a ferrari ingeniring that used a macan as confront. and macan is older, alfa is new. they have different engins.alfa used ferrari techonlogy only performance, macan is all' around.
I drive the Macan Turbo with competition package for some rich guy, I got to tell you, its pretty underwhelming how it sounds, its too quiet and it does not have that race feel even though 440hp are under the hood. Also the paddle shifters are too small and attached to the steering, making the “manual” transmission feel awkward and un engaging.
Just as I would never own a Maserati, same goes for an Alfa. Both as less dependable then a BMW. Not going to spend my hard earned money on a car that will be inside a mechanic's garage as much (or more so) then my own garage.
Thanks for watching! What Makes this new Alfa so fast? Find out here: ua-cam.com/video/OKk3JmXJWG0/v-deo.html

I suppose the driving technology is what's important but disappointing that Porsche don't seem to have access to the best IT."
UBER QUALITY MY ASS....FORZA ALFA BABY.....
4:22 Did you see that wheelspin? Wow!!!!
Which races to 50% depreciation faster..... I think the Alfa will win this one also.
u dont buy a car to sell it
mikeythebold tv i would like to buy another car after 4 years. So i got the better build macan.
But now the porsche SILENT!!!!!
mikeythebold tv Well, not solely to sell, but that is something considered by most buyers.
MACAN = FWD GLORIFIED VW....DRINK THE KOOL AID FANBOY
I ride sport bikes and love the exhaust sound on the Alpha.
So let's see....we have a FWD bias glorified VW vs a RWD bias Ferrari inspired and engineered opponent....I mean, do I really need to watch this ?
but vw is also lamborghini and bentley so dont shit. Alfa is better and the end of love story
Do you even car bro?
Now I know why you hide behind a moniker like "Master Card"....can't even construct a sentence !!!! WTF does this mean ? "Do you even car bro?" ???
FORSA ALFA MASTER CARD BABY !!!!
Wrong....Lambo and Bentley have no history with VW....it is only mergers and acquisitions and corporate greed.....Takeovers executed by lies and greed...
Then why comment if you're gonna be biased and not impartial?
thank you for real-world testing results! Stelvio will be huge seller bye bye overpriced Macan
ua-cam.com/video/Y8uJq1KXBik/v-deo.html BYE BYE FIAT 500X
Once Andre said Alfa provided the Porsche for comparison purposes, I knew the Stelvio would win. I'd like to see a Mercedes AMG, Audi RS, or Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT equivalent comparison.
BYE BYE PORSCHE...
@Ethan Pae You don't want to really enter into that discussion do you ?
IMS bearing anybody ??
GLORIFIED VW FANBOYS UNITE....You've been EMBARRASSED !!!!
FORZA ALFA BABY !!! THE KING IS BACK !!!!
@Ethan Pae BRILLIANT...YOU HAVE DEFEATED THE INTERNET ASSHOLE....!!!
@Ethan Pae Time for math class....
Porsche + Audi = GLORIFIED VW
ALFA = Ferrari .....
NEXT !!!!
@Ethan Pae HAHAHAHAHAHA....definitely under your skin there Nazi boy !!!
My parents are Italian so you would think I'd pick the Stelvio. Well, yes and no. Why, because I'm not sold on Stelvio's looks, which is a shame. The Germans really do understated styling with panache! Ciao regazzi :)
Andre. Great review. Btw, Macan is pronounced Ma-Chan not Ma-Khan. Macan is Asian Tiger found in Indonesia
Love seeing the stylish Italian beating the german! Also love the Massa suv too..
Good video quality
If I had to choose one of these It would be the Alfa and not just because it's faster 0-60 It's also much nicer esp. the exterior. Better sound, better handling
Porsche is beautiful... but Alfa Romeo is art...
Stelvio of course
Pretty sure that Porsche could squeeze 100+ more HP from their 3.6l V6 turbo. Considering that they can get 520hp from their 'non-turbo' 4.0l flat 6 in the GT3-RS. The Alfa is quick but seems a little lacking in interior materials and quality. It would be fun to blast through some mountain roads on a weekend getaway but would much prefer to 'live-with' the Macan as a daily driver.
Alfa Romeu amazing.. The best
wow, this alfa is amazing
Well , I can’t afford a Stelvio ☹️...but I have a GTV6 in the garage😁
The Stelvio is actually lighter
I would choose the Alpha but would worry a little about reliability.
It is like comparing a bike with a motorbike. Let's not joke, the Stelvio is nice but there is not a single feature that the Macan needs from the Alfa
i just pulled up to my local walgreens near the Omni national golf tournament and there was a red Gulia waiting by the front door...we do get a lot of exotic cars in tucson so i think nothing of it but as i walk by theres an Uber sticker on the windshield the driver looked to be a 55 year old male...i stopped and stood there staring...its the same red as my Ducati
He is best known for creating the Volkswagen Beetle"
"December 1945, French authorities arrested Porsche, Anton Piëch, and Ferry Porsche as war criminals."
"Anton Piëch was an Austrian lawyer and the son-in-law of Ferdinand Porsche. He headed Volkswagenwerk GmbH between 1941 and 1945, which produced the Volkswagen vehicles (KdF-Wagen) at the factory in Wolfsburg, Germany."
"Ferdinand Karl Piëch (born 17 April 1937) is an Austrian business magnate, engineer and executive who was the chairman of the supervisory board (Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender) of Volkswagen Group."
SHOULD I GO ON ?
CLEARLY PORSCHE = VW !!!
"Vittorio Jano was an Italian automobile designer of Hungarian descent from the 1920s through 1960s. At Alfa Romeo his first design was the 8-cylinder in-line mounted P2 Grand Prix car, which won Alfa Romeo the inaugural world championship for Grand Prix cars in 1925. In 1932, he produced the sensational P3 model which later was raced with great success by Enzo Ferrari when he began Scuderia Ferrari in 1933."
CLEARLY ALFA = FERRARI....
I CANNOT CONTINUE TRYING TO EDUCATE IDIOTS !!!! MIC DROP ON ALL THE GERMAN FAN BOYS
@Ethan Pae ...HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA!!!!
Skip the two and get a JGC Trackhawk for similar money. Plus the Trackhawk is faster.
3:25 thanks for reving it cold
Cute Vid! Now Take the top of the line Porsche to race with top of line Alfa! The Turbo S would destroy the ALfa thats why. Then test them on the track and the Alfa would look even worse!
That stelvio is just a different beast 😅
All. Stelvios. Are fantastic
Alfa is faster, sounds better, handles better, looks better, is cheaper, is more unique and overall this is more car for the money. Definitely Alfa!
What’s the zero to “I have to take it back to the dealership for warranty work” time for each of these? My guess is about a week. 🔥
Wow - so the Dodge Challenger is a bargain!
I'm a Alfa fanatic but i prefer the sound of the Porsche. I'd still take the Alfa though much better looking car IMO.
You guys should review a regular stelvio
Amazing! good video.
quality and techonlogy la better i macan.
the macan is the suv n1 so behind alfa you will find a ferrari ingeniring
that used a macan as confront.
and macan is older, alfa is new.
they have different engins.alfa used ferrari techonlogy only performance, macan is all' around.
The Porsche might have some more options, but the Alfa has so much passion in everything that it's a better car!
Anybody gonna complain about porsche still using a key?
Alfa romeo forever for me!!!!
0-60 is the best comparison for the Macan here. It doesn't look that much inferior.
...which it realy is from a dynamic point of view.
@Ethan Pae Everyone wanting the fastest one would care about the real fast car. Not the one able to just get a better time 0-60.
I drive the Macan Turbo with competition package for some rich guy, I got to tell you, its pretty underwhelming how it sounds, its too quiet and it does not have that race feel even though 440hp are under the hood. Also the paddle shifters are too small and attached to the steering, making the “manual” transmission feel awkward and un engaging.
id gladly have either but because of cost sound and passion the alfa romeo
I LIKE THEM BOTH.
I ACTUALLY HAVE TWO ALFA'S SO GUESS WHICH ME FAV...
Just as I would never own a Maserati, same goes for an Alfa. Both as less dependable then a BMW. Not going to spend my hard earned money on a car that will be inside a mechanic's garage as much (or more so) then my own garage.
You don't know what you're talking about......Porsche = Glorified VW...Terrible reliability and electronics
Both are garbage. Panamera stays in the shop
