Amen, sir! BB10 was (and is) the best phone OS I've ever used. The physical keyboard was nice, but I realize that's not gonna happen. BB10 was robust as hell, though, and I loved it.
Blackberry made the best phones. I never touched my computer for email when I had a blackberry. Texting was a dream too. The touch keyboard is just horrible, I hate to even text and I don't dare to write emails anymore. Blackberry did some cool things that phones don't do today too, for example: -Able to turn completely off and have it still wake you up with the alarm set -Have different ring/vibrate settings based on whether it was inside or outside the phone case on my belt. For example, if I had it in the holder I was at work so I had it vibrate 3 times for call, 2 for email and 1 for text/bbm. When it was out, it would ring. Don't forget, it was a phone without the crap bloat!
You said it - if they could put Android 11 into the BB Key2 I'd be still using it too! Been using the UniHertz Titan Slim then went to check something out on my old Blackberry Key2 and it's like a Volvo vs a Ferrari. I wish they could just put the internal upgrade of the Unihertz TitanSlim into the slick build of the BB Key2. The Key2 is such a beautiful phone to hold and the build quality compared to Unihertz is the gold standard.
After the Onward failure, my wife and I both bought the Titan. We love having the physical keyboard again and while it's not a BB, it's definitely worth it.
I'm still using my Key2 everyday for work and personal needs, and I'm not having any problems with it. I bought one of the last brand new unused ones in mid 2020 to replace my PRIV. Strangers often stop me in public to ask about the phone, and everyone over 30 talks about how they miss their old BB while everyone under 30 has never seen one before. I may consider the F(x)tec Pro1X in the future, but for now I will be using my Key2 into 2023.
Thank you Adam for this video, The BlackBerry narrative is still relevant, never boring and always welcome to brighten the day of this diehard fan. I love my Key2, still take it out of my nightstand and go to my happy place, loved my Torch Z10, Z30, KeyOne was my least favorite ... Hope never quits for a new BlackBerry 😊
First discovered your channel due to the BlackBerry content and appreciate the powerful community that you have built on UA-cam and beyond around such devices. My favorite BlackBerry was the 950, as few people had ever seen such a device at the time and many marveled at the ability to immediately reply to e-mails while away from the office. Nice surprise to see a BlackBerry themed upload at the end of 2022. Happy Holidays!
The BlackBerry Passport is still my favorite phone ever. I even bought the silver edition. That keyboard doubling as a trackpad and the swipe gestures you could use on it were fantastic.
loved my passport, even today after these maybe years, Passport was probably my best phone ever. Loved that big square screen, the easiness to type and the hub. Man this makes me nostalgic AF lol
You know what's funny? I was thinking the same thing the other day. I MISS bb. Not particularly the physical keyboard, but the operating system. BBM was MILES ahead of its time in regards to social media. Remember the pins? Lol. Before team Android or team iPhone, we were the original team: Team BlackBerry. Those were the days... I would GLADLY adopt its platform if they offered a compelling package of hardware and software. You come across as sincere in a sea of insincere tech UA-camrs when you drop a video about your passion for an unpopular tech topic. Keep up the good work man!
I found your channel a couple of years ago from my son, who knew that Dad enjoyed his BlackBerry Keyone with a physical keyboard. I have had several Blackberry phones from 2009 through to a month ago. My favorite was probably the Classic because I liked the BB10 OS. I held onto my KeyOne through the whole Onward Mobility situation, and I was so disappointed when it didn't work out. Just over a month ago, the battery and the GPS antenna went south, and I finally had to move on. I, too, miss the physical keyboard. However, I am glad that I found your site because it helped me select the Samsung S22 Ultra as my new phone, and I am really happy with it! Thanks again for all of the awesome content!
The best I ever had was my Red Blackberry Passport. I loved that phone like no other. I still feel the pain of not being able to use it anymore. Adam thank you for the video.
I am still using my keyONE! I purchased a recycled Galaxy Note9 as a second device (mini tablet) and still feel that the BlackBerry device feels more comfortable than the new. No battery or keyboard issues with my device however needed to turn off double-tap to wake screen because of some kind of phantom lines on the screen. Other than that the keyONE is my main device. Other BlackBerry I owned ... Z30, Z10, Torch and Classic
I am with you Adam! I so miss my BlackBerrys. I still have every one that I ever had from the 7230 all the way to the Passport. Loved them all but I would have to say the Passport was my favorite. Loved that keyboard and the "Work Wide" feeling.
Haha ha you can't compare an ultra to a dinosaur BlackBerry. It's night and day. But there's still a special place in our hearts for BlackBerry. For many of us it's our first true smartphone.
Great rant on BlackBerry. Would be nice if BlackBerry still made a small batch for fans. I think there's enough demand to support a couple million phones a year but guess the volume wasn't enough and they sold all their patents.
You know what...yes my key 2 is quite behind in android updates but its still my main phone. Its still running as smooth as day 1 out the box and dont think im getting rid of it anytime soon even though we have more recent qwerty phones from unihertz.
Forget typing. The #1 BlackBerry feature is KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS (by a long shot) #2 is BlackBerry Hub+ I can't live without it and no other manufacturer makes anything close. No other app, nothing. My Key2 is retiring tomorrow (DEC.22,2022) and a Pixel 7 Pro will replace it. I've been in tears all day. Damn you failed BlackBerry Mobile!
I had a blackberry pearl. I was a huge fan of physical keyboards and still am. Just being able to press a button and know what button you were pressing was so satisfying. Way less mistakes. I've owned the LG enV, voyager, pearl, and a handful of sidekicks. I wish physical keyboards would make a comeback, but I know they won't in today's slab age and folables now on the crest of becoming more popular. Man today's autocorrect with physical keyboards would be a monster. I do also miss the the trackball the pearl had as well. Also the way the keyboard curved on the pearl was very ergonomic. Blackberry had it's fun but it's near it's end I feel like.
I agree with this. I ended up buying a Unihertz Titan Pocket just to throw some support behind a PKB phone. Unfortunately the camera was the factor that kept pulling me away from it. If someone were to buy up Blackberry or they released their own phone again I would be all over it. Keyboard, security, decent camera, that's all I really want. Elon Musk buying up the company and creating a new OS to go along with the phones so that there is more competition in the market wouldn't be a bad thing either.
I have a Blackberry Classic and still use it. Most apps still work and I see no reason to no longer use it. Only problem is that the battery is failing and it will be very difficult to replace it as it is built in. It now lasts only about 8 hours. I did get an offer to replace it but no cost was mentioned.
BlackBerry is my blood and my air. Two months ago I was forced to buy an Iphone SE 2022, but believe it or not I am struggling with it like it is disgusting compared to BlackBerry. I used to carry BB10 and BB passport, the interaction is very fluid like the BlackBerry is designed like your think. Furthermore, the BB hub is very useful and much more. Thanks a lot for this wonderful video about BlackBerry (Revival). W are still here and we hope to see a new BlackBerry device very sooooooooon. Thanks Adam.
@@squirrellvr79 Absolutely! Same here but last september i got an Iphone SE 2022. Honestly, BBOS is the best operating system easy for use and interaction is friendly and the most secure ever.
Blackberry fan here as well. I still use my Key1 as my house music player connected via Bluetooth to speakers. What would be great is re-issue of the priv design, that was tops
Watched this video on my Key2. Still my only business phone for calls, email, browsing. Also running the 9900 with my personal number for talk and text only. Using it for the size of the device primarily since I carry 2. Favourite might have been the Classic and will probably upgrade my 9900 back to that once 3G shuts down.
Omg thought I was the only one using a 9900 for my phone and text lol I use my key2 for internet and UA-cam etc :) I refuse to stop using it until I no longer have a choice! BlackBerry forever
BlackBerry needs to pull their heads out of their butts and design a new BlackBerry android phone and market the hell out of it. BlackBerry always sucked at marketing the phones. Everyone who sees my key2 thinks it's so cool and wants one.
Funny you posted this. I literally just took my Key2 out of the nightstand yesterday and did updates on it. Poked around for a bit. Love that device. Great video!
Still using my Key2 and loving it each & every day! It is working absolutely fine, the keyboard shortcuts are amazing, and people do comment when they see me using it! When I see how long it takes users of slabs to actually dial someone, or respond to messages, I give my Key2 a hug and tell it to “hang in there!.” Hopefully Unihertz (or someone else) will make a 5G keyboard phone, so when my beloved Key2 finally dies, I’ll have some options. But for now, it’s going great!
I miss being able to put my hand in my pocket and respond to a text. Especially at work! For me there is no replacing a physical keyboard. I had both the white and black Pearls, then I got my Curve and I truly fell in love. I remember they had one of the first touch screen phones. I miss Blackberry.
I'm with you! Except I don't miss mine, I'm typing this on my Key2. But it is dying slowly & I'm worried I won't be able to find another phone with a physical keyboard. I switched from AT&T after 20 years to T Mobile earlier this year when AT&T decided to not allow BlackBerrys to work on their network. See tons of BlackBerry rumors overseas but can't find any in the US. Wish Blackberry would still make phones. There is a market for keyboard smartphones!
My Key2 is still my primary and my secondary is my Evolve X. I enjoy them both though I'm curious about the performance boost of 5G. The photo quality is good enough for my purposes on both phones. I'm almost done with my collection of the Blackberry android experience. I have the PRIV, DTEK50, DTEK60, Motion, Key2, Key2 LE, Evolve, and Evolve X. I only need the Keyone and Keyone Black Edition to complete my collection. Note: all of my devices are fully functional and work on all networks. You can order new batteries on Amazon or Ebay if needed.
Funny you post this on the day i take my Key 2 red out of the drawer and fire it up. I sit looking at it wondering if i can still make it work. For what its worth I prefer android 8 on the key 2 to 12 on the z flip 4. Still sad times.
I miss BB phones, too. You mentioned the Titan line; do you still use any of them? I'm still really enjoying the Titan Pocket as I always preferred the smaller phones (Q5, Q10, etc). I just wish they'd release security updates more regularly. I keep holding out hope that LineageOS will be further developed for at least some of those phones. I remember getting the Q5 used in 2014 for like $60. I believe BB10.2 was out then. As soon as I started using the phone, I was so thrilled. Typing felt amazing on it; nothing like those clickity chicklet keys. A few years later, the Passport was my first foray into a larger phone. Wow, what a beast that was. Always enjoy your content and it was nice to reminisce on the earlier BB days. Cheers from a former Crackberrian!
I definitely miss the physical keyboard. I had a BB from 2005 until a year ago when I got the ZFold3. Every time someone ask me if I like my Zfold3, my reply is, it's ok but I really miss my Blackberry 😞
I had the blackberry bold 9000 for my first blackberry in 2011. Man I used blackberry for years bro, up till 2020 with the blackberry passport/classic which I don't own anymore(live abroad and travel in between didn't want to carry so many phone) hopefully in the future we can hold a blackberry again.
@@TechOdyssey my hands shake. So on glass sliding into keys causes massive spell issues. Continuous corrections. The keyboard only gets taller. Not wider keys to try to compensate. All other features of the phone are great. It's like taking your typing speed from 60 to 15 wpm.
I have recently made my Blackberry classic work again. It connects to wifi and everything. The browser seems to be fast, too. Streamed a couple of UA-cam videos on it, no issue. I am now looking to see if I can get a 3g carrier to see how it works. If it does work. I'm switching over full time for calls, text, email, and navigation.
I'm still using my BlackBerry KEYone silver edition. It still works fine but sometimes I get lags when using Chrome or UA-cam because I assume the apps get more and more updated and 3 gigabytes of ram is not enough for today's standards. And also the battery life is not that good anymore as it was in the past. I wish I could switch to the BlackBerry KEY2 but you cannot really get it anymore in unused condition but if you find one they are demanding exaggerated prices and also for the used ones.
When I was little I played with my dad's Kyocera's phone with a keyboard. My first phone was a touchscreen, but I did get to test a Cosmo Communicator.
hello tech odyssey, i need an advice, my blackberry key2 like yours, need repair, need a new screen and the plug to charge it is sometimes hard to plug it in but SHOULD I REPAIR IT ??? i dont like new phones without a keyboard. i like to feel the keys under my fingers like im typing on this keyboard right now. i dont want the world's pc keyboard turn touch only. i need a new blackberry key2 or should i get it to repair. i dont know where to get one in Quebec
I definitely miss my blackberry. I only gave mine up because I needed a faster phone -5G. I got a pixel 6 and hate it! I had no problem with my key2 other than speed and limit carrier options.
im still using a key2 going into 2023< i can feel its times is coming it hurts to know the death of BB is so official and written on the wall since app-ning of 2010 *sigh*
I'm quiet surprise that none company has copy from blackberry the Hub idea of centralize notifications. They still using, notification zone, as simple notifications.
Amen, agreed with all you said! Still using my Key2. Great phone! Would love for someone like Musk to pick up the ball and run with it or for RIM to start producing them again.
It's definitely a learning curve. Some phones and keyboards are better than others. Good haptic feedback is the foundation for a good typing experience. What phone are you using?
@@TechOdyssey currently Im using the Z flip 4. Overall I am very pleased with this phone. I used touch screen phones for a couple of years now but after using blackberry phones for over 10 years , nothing compares to a physical keyboard. I also have the Titan but overall it lacks certain things I need which makes it not good enough for a daily driver. I think my Z flip 4 is good enough and I will manage to get used to typing on a touch screen. But it will never be the same experience as my good old trusted blackberry phones. But it is what it is. Still have hope someday blackberry will return, and I will be the first to buy one.
Come here to reply to your pic on the video - No we don't. BB had their chance and they blew it. Just like windows mobile. You snooze you lose. They got comfortable and stopped competing and innovating along with keeping high price tags. Remember the Storm? Yeah.. I remember the Storm.
I definitely missed the blackberry physical keyboard. Around last Christmas my wife and I watched your videos and we decided to go with the OnePlus 8T. So we both missed the physical keyboard, it's been an excellent phone and we've loved everything about it. It does absolutely everything that I could possibly need with it and I do a lot of video editing and working with apps like powerdirector. And my wife has been heavy into blackberry for years and had me into them for the last 10 years. We love our HT and I asked her if she wanted a new OnePlus phone for Christmas because they have a lot more advanced ones and she said absolutely not she's happy with her phone she only wants a new one if they come out with being waterproof. We both want to thank you so much for your suggestions and videos that have guided us through the processes thank you and look forward to seeing you on more videos.
It's funny that you post this video Adam. One of the VERY Early cell phones I ever had (I am 36 almost 37 for reference) was a Blackberry. And while I don't remember anything about the software experience, the one thing that sticks out to me is & that made me consider the Blackberry at that time *was* the physical keyboard. At the time the concept/idea of literally typing on a screen was completely foreign to me & seemed incredibly weird. I have adjusted now so much that *maybe* using a literal keyboard on a phone might seem weird now.
Facts. I never had a Blackberry, but I remember, my 14 year old self wanted a Blackberry Curve or Bold, so bad. Sadly, my dad didn’t want to pay for a data plan (looking back, I don’t blame him).
I would like a 3rd option, I miss bb10, the security was awesome, and the community. Thanks for the video. I started with the bb pearl and I was hooked. I got the tablet, z10, z30, the priv.....
I am with you, and perhaps numerous others, in your fervent desire for further progress with the BlackBerry physical keyboard experience. Frankly, I see no reason they ever created a touch-screen phone (several of them) when their niche was so strong. Let Apple have their thing. They did it well.
Not iphone ..but bb is love with everyside...i m still using it ...from z3 to priv ..not social lover ...but still bb is what you make more comfort than another one
This week I bought a Motion for 80 euros in perfect condition here in Germany. Nice deal...use it as my secondary device next to my Xperia 1MK III. Can't give up blackberry complete. All other BlackBerry devices rest in my secretary. Q10, classic , passport SE. Priv and Keys (1 and 2) are all sold.

I miss being able to put my hand in my pocket and respond to a text. Especially at work! For me there is no replacing a physical keyboard. I had both the white and black Pearls, then I got my Curve and I truly fell in love.
I remember they had one of the first touch screen phones. I miss Blackberry.
I miss them too bud. I miss them too.
Im still using the key 2 as my Daly driver
I assume the Titans just aren’t cutting it
I'm with you!
So TMobile supports your BB? If so may I ask what state you live in?
Watching this on my keyone daily driver
Nice!
Still use. Mine I have Samsung a53 and is St I use blackberry until it gives up
Funny you post this on the day i take my Key 2 red out of the drawer and fire it up. I sit looking at it wondering if i can still make it work. For what its worth I prefer android 8 on the key 2 to 12 on the z flip 4. Still sad times.
The red KEY2 is such a gorgeous phone!
They should have kept the licensing deal going as there's still fans of BlackBerry.
I am really struggling with pixel pro 7. Keyboard issues.
How are you struggling?
@@TechOdyssey my hands shake. So on glass sliding into keys causes massive spell issues. Continuous corrections. The keyboard only gets taller. Not wider keys to try to compensate. All other features of the phone are great. It's like taking your typing speed from 60 to 15 wpm.
Still using my Key2 till this day
Nice!
Thank you for this video! Passport was my favorite one of BB. Nostalgia...
I'm see your vídeo from my BlackBerry KeyOne silver edition.. And I still have all my blackberry's but I sell my first BlackBerry Curve :(
Still using my KeyOne Black Edition today... I love the phone, and I have no idea what to do next..
Call me crazy, really miss the sidekick! 🤔🤣
I thought I would get used to tapping on this android screen..
NOPE. 2 years in...I hate it...always type wrong.. takes forever
Please talk to them 😢
I am using my Key2 this week (instead of my Pixel 7) and still love and miss the PKB. There are a few bugs that are frustrating but still love it.
Still using my BB Priv, it still rocks although you need to adjust some stuff on it. Gonna miss it if android 6 will end up like android 4.
I miss my BlackBerry someone needs to make a better stylish lookin blackberry like the Passport
Same thing for me. I miss BlackBerry very much. But yesterday I bought unihertz titan pocket. I hope to regain some of the joy of using a BlackBerry
Hopefully you enjoy it
i really miss blackberry phones. and i am sure they will definitely make a come back, they will have to come for sure..
That Porche Design Blackberry was my favorite........... Please, let's keep the conversation going. You never know...........
We can only hope
I'm still using my BlackBerry KEYone silver edition. It still works fine but sometimes I get lags when using Chrome or UA-cam because I assume the apps get more and more updated and 3 gigabytes of ram is not enough for today's standards. And also the battery life is not that good anymore as it was in the past. I wish I could switch to the BlackBerry KEY2 but you cannot really get it anymore in unused condition but if you find one they are demanding exaggerated prices and also for the used ones.
Also I miss Blackberry, my Key2 is getting limited but still I love it. Pity of destiny and blindness of some companies...
With my BB suite on the Pixel 6 Pro I would love to see an update on the software. I miss the phone as well!!!!
When I was little I played with my dad's Kyocera's phone with a keyboard. My first phone was a touchscreen, but I did get to test a Cosmo Communicator.
Every six months I keep checking back hoping there will be a good external keyboard phone, but it's not there
Yeah… sucks
We are left with chitt phons like appel
hello tech odyssey, i need an advice, my blackberry key2 like yours, need repair, need a new screen and the plug to charge it is sometimes hard to plug it in but SHOULD I REPAIR IT ??? i dont like new phones without a keyboard. i like to feel the keys under my fingers like im typing on this keyboard right now. i dont want the world's pc keyboard turn touch only. i need a new blackberry key2 or should i get it to repair. i dont know where to get one in Quebec
I am missing too.
I still have the Classic and the 9900 in my heart.
Amen, agreed with all you said! Still using my Key2. Great phone! Would love for someone like Musk to pick up the ball and run with it or for RIM to start producing them again.
Good video. Years ago I wanted so badly the Palm Pre 3 for Verizon. I think Palm and BB were great. Sad the physical keyboard is gone.
Just cant get used to typing on a touch screen. Been using them for about 2 years now. And they suck!
Still using the Titan pocket every day. It sure is a pain in the back, but I love it.
Bring back the sidekick
Aint giving up my k2
It's funny that you post this video Adam. One of the VERY Early cell phones I ever had (I am 36 almost 37 for reference) was a Blackberry. And while I don't remember anything about the software experience, the one thing that sticks out to me is & that made me consider the Blackberry at that time *was* the physical keyboard. At the time the concept/idea of literally typing on a screen was completely foreign to me & seemed incredibly weird. I have adjusted now so much that *maybe* using a literal keyboard on a phone might seem weird now.
Thanks mate! feel free to reach out, got something to share🎉🎁:
Facts. I never had a Blackberry, but I remember, my 14 year old self wanted a Blackberry Curve or Bold, so bad. Sadly, my dad didn’t want to pay for a data plan (looking back, I don’t blame him).

I'm with you too. I miss my BlackBerry. Crossing my fingers... who knows. :)
Are you able to talk about what Onward Mobility phones were going to be yet?
Interesting take. I remember them and then remember not hearing much about them anymore. Always thought it was a decent brand back in the day.
