Amphibia season 3 continues with the Root of all Evil and the Core and the King! The former giving us a parody of Midsommar, while the latter of which fleshing out King Andrias and his complicated backstory as we finally meet Barrel and Leif, and their falling out over the fate of Amphibia!
So much is finally revealed, leaving moments in True Colors to be viewed in a whole new light, while also giving us a first look at Darcy! Are Marcy's memories in danger of being erased by the Core? Where is Marcy within the hivemind? This is our big breakdown of the new episodes!

Now Andrias'... sharp turn in True Colors makes sense. Between a toad wielding Barrel's Warhammer, Grime, Sprig looking just like Leif, and there being a chase for the box while he's wielding his sword, it does make sense that he would snap at that moment. He does not seem as much of a two-dimensional villain anymore.
I feel the fans who have dismissed much of season 3 as filler are the same kind who skip over much of season 1 for that same misguided reason. Amphibia was always much more about cumulative buildup than straightforward progression, and I don't know why people always seem to conveniently forget about that. Even season 2 was structured like 'a few eps on the road, then some eps in Newtopia, then some eps back in Wartwood intermixed with the occasional temple ep'.
I don’t know if anyone else pointed this out but Leif also states that she’s a gardener and this could be a reference to the Planters’ legacy of being famers, just a small detail I noticed
I have a theory that when they defeat Darcy, they think about bringing Marcy back using her journal but
When I saw Darcy call human technology weak I thought “she should see nukes”
I can see why Andreas blames Leif for everything that happened she basically ruined his life z and she basically condemned amphibia to a medieval existence for 1000 years ,when it was futuristic society that was probably a tough pill to swallow for Andreas especially since it was implied the Core and everyone blamed him for it ,yes amphibia was getting resources from conquered worlds ,but still that has to be major source of pain for Andreas knowing that Leif betrayed him and their whole society for something was very vague.
Leif stole the box to prevent what she saw from happening, but she inadvertently set it all in motion. The destruction of Amphibia, the flying castle, Andrias becoming a tyrant over his own people, and possibly the moon falling. Just as the prophecy says "should they fight or embrace the fall, their choice will determine the fate of all," she set in motion the Calamity Trio traveling to Amphibia to save it, but they can also be its downfall as we've seen from what's occurred since True Colors.
Anyone else notice how inconsistent the cores eyes are. In the first temple it has 13 eyes. In the season three opening it has 11 and in Olivia and Yunan it had 9
I agree, The Core and the King should've been a lot longer then it's actual runtime. It might've felt a little rushed, but nevertheless it was
If it's true that Marcy's memories have been erased, I'm hoping that when Anne helps restore her Calamity Powers, it'll restore her memories as well.
Darcy may seem adorable now, but we may be looking at one of the most tragic villains in Disney TVA history.
I believe Anne will restore Marcy’s memories when she returns the power of the mind gem to her.
Does anyone else just loves the different art style from a thousand years ago vs modern-day Amphibia? like the faded colors and light lines vs the bold and brighter color and black lines from the modern-day, I find that very interesting and it really works with the story too.
OH, that's why the " isn't it time to say goodbye to those childhood friends of yours" line right before Darcy, because andrius's father, the one who said said line, was because his father was probably the one who was in control at that time
I liked the core and the king more than the root of evil because it flushed out king Andrias’s character and explains why he became the tyrant he is now, the real reason he was so mad at grime, the real reason he dropped Sprig from the window, and the real reason why he stabbed Marcy because it reminded him of his past and his greatest mistake (in his own mind and his fathers). It also gives more weight to what he said to Anne right before he dropped Sprig, “That’s the thing about friends isn’t it? The more you love them the more it’s hurts when they go.” because he cared about Leif and Barrel a lot and when Leif took the box and Barrel failed to stop her he saw as a betrayal of their friendship and we saw it hurt him so everything in true colors makes more sense now. I have to give credit to Matt he really has this show and everything else in it well paced and well planned also I like nothing is treated as filler and eventually comes back to play a role in an episode or the overall plot
I was personally vary interested in the fact that Andreas uses the pink reading glasses to read the message which makes me wonder if there are other secret messages in the things he’s read with them

I noticed straight away that young Andrias was Zeno and I'm surprised you didn't draw more attention to the parallels there with him and Hunter. Maybe it's just a fun little easter egg or coincidence but I love the idea of exploring it more. Both in very similar positions at similar ages (at least maturity wise) and trying to live up to the expectations of a manipulative parental figure that only wants to use them for their bigger, multi-world related plans. It's pretty interesting to me lol
Wait a moment, I thought Leif betrayed Andreas because she saw Amphibia in danger and not because she felt sorry for the victims.
I honestly feel super bad for Andrias in this episode, Leif may have had visions of the future, but there was no way they could've known that for certain. If anything, letting her fear get the better of her set most of the events in the present in motion.
