I love the placemats you've made, they are beautiful! Thank you for making this tutorial video 🙂. And I think it's a wonderful idea to give them away to the people that receive meals on wheels. This will really brighten their day 😊💙❤️
This looks pretty easy! I'm impressed because I'm not a sewer, but this is something I feel like I could do. And I can bond further with my quilting MIL because I'll need to use her sewing machine! lol
Hi Kathy! I am using a Black & Decker Light 'n Easy Steam/Dry Iron with SilverStone coating. I don't see a model number on it. This iron is probably 20+ years old so I'm sure they don't make it any longer. About a year ago, I updated to a Rowenta because it has an auto shut off. The B&D iron didn't have this and I was forgetting to unplug it. Happy Sewing!
Second update + question: Do you quilt at the end just for aesthetic? Or do you do it also for the sturdiness of the placemat? Update, I bought fabric back in 2019 when we moved house. I just barely got a sewing machine two weeks ago, took a single sewing class, and have now made 2 of these reversible placemats. They are surprisingly easy! What I've discovered for mysefl though is cutting fabric feels so tedious, lol I like the sewing more than the cutting and measuring. But it must be done! Thanks for sharing these videos!
Thanks for the update! I'm glad you were able to make some placemats! For the quilting, it's kind of optional but I usually do at least a bit of quilting because it helps hold the layers together when you wash the placemats. If there is no quilting, the placemats could get all jumbled and need more ironing to get back into place. Happy Sewing!
my question is when you did the cut out on the corners did you do the batting seprate then glue it to the material didn't see the video on that how you put it togother.
Hi, Carolyn! I explain in more detail how to cut off the corners in the web page for this project, please visit: www.needlepointers.com/main/youtubecontent.aspx?youtubepageid=350 and it's in Step 2. Happy Quilting!
@@Needlepointers thank you it was very helpful but i did make a mistake in cutting the corners, I use my long ruler 6inches wide it show 45 degree angle on but it made it to wide on the side so I got me a square ruler now.
Your video has been the easiest to follow of all the ones I've seen. Can't wait to start making placemats. Thank you.

I love your iron! I can see that it’s Black and Decker, but what model is it? I’m having trouble finding one that’s not too big and heavy.
