I miss these type of videos 😢. Feeling nostalgic... Can't believe I've been learning from you for this long already... Time flies! You were the 1st watercolor teacher of mine and to be honest my true 1 only. I've dabbled watching other instructors but none are able to communicate and demo in the way of the frugal crafter! Can't we Bring back Friday lives...? Even monthly at least 🥰😁😉?
I agree! I would love to see some watercolor lives also! I too, learned how to do watercolor through watching you. You really explain stuff very well! Appreciate you taking the time to teach watercolor! Hope you are enjoying your summer!😊
I have pictures of my parents' irises of all colors from the 1980s so I'm looking forward to this class. They had yellow, too. Thanks so much! Signing up!
Can’t wait for this Michael’s event Lindsay! So my Inktense blocks should work as well as my Sennelier watercolor 24 set, correct? Thanks for this preview! Enjoy your Summer! 🎉💜🤩🥰✨
So beautiful. Thank you for this video. I actually did some line and wash Irises last month on my own. I don't paint flowers much and struggled with it a bit. I will have to watch this a few times and figure out how I can improve my own for next time. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Really, I do. As someone who is just starting my own art journey (about 2.5 years in) and working on figuring out how to make videos of my own it really is a lot of work.
My mom had white irises and I use blues and purples for shading. I like painting flowers because you can be a little off with the drawing and no one will know.
I have been painting for years, and this is the first time that I've ever heard someone talk about the range of shades/hues of yellow. Thank you for teaching us this. I love this painting.
@@jimflack9462 The link is in the description of the video above. UA-cam usually deletes my comments if I put a link in it. I'll put on in a different comment.
Thanks for helping! I'm not sure why my pattern isn't on the Michaels website (maybe because I was late turning in my materials) so I posted it here too. See you both in class!
enjoy your videos... USPS postage goes up rom $.68 per letter to mail to $.73 per letter to mail, July 1st. We are buying a bunch of forever stamps to have on sale (like Christmas, Valentine's day, holidays, bds,... I am a cardmaker and love making cards for family and friends, so it pays to buy the forever stamps).
Just signed up. I have inktense pencils and Windsor newton regular watercolors. Which would work better for this tutorial and what challenges should I expect?
I’ve read other advice along the lines of yours: draw/paint what inspired you in the moment. Try to communicate that. You can also get that experience from copying the work of great artists, though. I’m no photographer, so don’t have photos on my phone, but I always get inspired when I visit an art gallery. Just so you know, Lindsay: it’s DER-went, not Der-WENT. It’s the name of an English river, so getting the stress wrong would sort of be like pronouncing the Missouri River as MISS-ou-ri (which would make it more or less the same as ‘misery’-might sadden the locals).
Lindsay, I wasn’t able to catch your Michael's class as we had a major dog emergency. So I’m here completing the ink work based on your download, when I look at the reference, and boom- I finished it just looking at your photo. I’m going to be painting using my ink tense sets as who knows where the line and wash set went, but I hear your paint-fairy voice say, “Use what you have.” I think I have this and my brain wants to finish the painting. Thanks for you being you!😊
Hullo Lindsay, I do enjoy watching your classes in advance and I have even made it to a few of your Michael's classes and they are wonderful! I want others to know there is no better option to FREE on the internet with such an excellent teacher! I say I have PAID for your classes over on Teachable, so going to Michael's for a FREE class is a real no brainier!! Thanks for the pre-view see ya over there!
So beautiful. I’m going to miss this class too. My son is graduating from Army basic training so I’ll be in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. So exciting time but sad to miss another class.
I love this so gorgeous. I need to practise my sketching more you make it look so easy.😍 I bought the Derwent line and wash paint set while it was 40% off on Amazon and I love it.😄
Already signed up, Lindsay! Also this line and wash set, is it inktense paints or is is regular paint? Because I have a set of Derwent inktense 12 pan set. I have individual liners etc. would that work?
I had signed up for the last class, was on zoom, then my frig went out and I had to deal with a repair man! Hopefully no interruptions for the next class! Still will go back to the last one and try that too. Thanks for the holster patterns and the suggestions of palettes. I think I'll make one for my Derwent palette and thinking of getting a smaller one too. It is addicting cause they're so cute!
thank you ,this is beautiful ,i drew it but my drawing skills are pretty small,i draw from my imagination mostly so seeing references i struggle with ,cant wait to paint it now, love your videos and you
Gorgeous Iris. I have yellow iris in my yard but for some reason only one out of many bloomed this year. I like the purple ones the best. I was given free bulbs and planted them then the next year I found out they were yellow. I need to try and paint one.

Signed up! The iris is so pretty! I downloaded the pattern from your link in the description here. I didn't see it on the Michaels' signup page.
Where in the Michaels website did you sign up. I couldn't find it.

Signed up today. I have tried yellow flowers before and never had much success. Really looking forward to this one. Got the graphic. Thanks so much.

Sorry about that, it's the Americanized pronunciation and the only way I've heard it here:)
This is an absolutely lovely Iris!!! They’re my favorite flower (as my name implies) ; specifically, the bearded ones.
Thanks 😊

Not yet but it's a coptic stitch sketchbook.
