It gives so much energy to that last section of the song. I always come back to this rehearsal when I want to feel hyped and just skip to that exact snare hit
Nickenator8 I still shake my head at, well, Lars and James both shaking their head at Kirk not being able to chug along on guitar with the double-kick track they laid out. That said, I d have no idea why Lars thought releasing the snare and fapping away on it was a great idea. This song is one heavy bastard though, and a long one. With more appropriate time and production it could have been much better.

As much as some fans bitched about St. Anger due to different tuning, steel drums, and no solos, there are actually some decent songs on the album, including this song. True, this is their most unpopular album, but consider the fact that ALL of their other albums are multi-platinum time and time again, it's not an insult. Plus they put on a hell of a live show and invest tons of their money into putting on excellent shows and pay their own crew very well and have tons of travel expenses. This sounds WAY better than the album because of 2 reasons: The snare doesnt sound like a garbage can and Rob's bass which is obviously better than Bob Rock's. All within my hands in these videos (rehearsals) is brutal.
I reckon Bob Rock should get a heap more credit for stepping in and playing bass on this album. He didn't just play the bass either, he composed the bass parts, not to mention producing the album as well. He's quite a decent musician in his own right but is far better known for his producing, and did an admirable job of playing along with three absolute megastars. I believe that what the band did to Jason in AJFA, did the same with Kirk in this album, in a way. Not letting him play solos, is like, you have a drummer, a bass player, a rhythm guitar player and singer and a lead guitar player that doubles the rhythm guitar. That is like, what are you doing here? I am not blaming Kirk for having trouble playing this stuff man.
did they decide on that main riff because somehow and oddly enough Kirk couldn't nail that riff that James acttually came up with?!....I find it hard to believe, but still *shrugs*
I think the only problem with this album is that the songs are too long, if they made some 3 or 4 minutes songs it will feel better cause I always get tired at the middle of the album, the songs are good but are too repetitive
