Fighter pilot Hasard Lee attempts to survive the "Euthanasia Roller Coaster"; a controversial concept designed by Julijonas Urbonas, a Lithuanian artist, engineer, and provocateur known for pushing the boundaries of art and design. This coaster is designed to take the lives of its passengers with immense G forces over a long duration, but can a seasoned fighter pilot survive the machine designed to kill?

You need to check out the experimental B737 based out of Goodyear airport. They are testing out similar tech that the F35 has. How they can see through the plane. Creates an augmented reality. Something like that.
@HasardLee you are a stud! Saw the F35 on static display last Sunday at Seymour. In person that plane is completely different than seeing on screen.

Wow, 9Gs for 38 seconds. Incredible!
30 actually, clock started on top.

I can do it just pretend you're about to take a huge shit in public
Yea, but lets not ignore the fact that the loops are getting smaller and smaller while maintaining steady velocity, so the amount of Gs would be far greater than just 9 at the end of the ride, so its kind of innacurate. Also the drop would generate a lot of Gs aswell which was not included in the simulation
@@beavercat7925 negative g's upon decent though, it doesn't really affect cognitive abilities.
@@beavercat7925 The loops get smaller because velocity is actually being lost. Roller coasters aren't powered so it loses energy as it moves through the loops. That is why he designed them to get smaller, to make up for the speed loss.

This is absolutely insane. Just astounding to know that not only did you survive it, but you actually stayed conscious! 37 seconds of 9Gs?? That's insane!

6:57 i've felt that before from anemia. i fasted for too long when they were drawing blood for a bunch of exams. it felt more or less like when exercise too hard and your vision gets darker. i collected myself as you do to when you feel like this during heavy exercise, and it seemed to work. i had it "under control". i sat straight again and went back to my thoughts. little did i know i actually fainted. I did not recover from the blackness, I fell seamlessly into a dream.
when i woke up, this exact thing happened IN REVERSE. i saw a distance image of 3 doctors staring at me with a worried face. All i could think was "ah that looks like a bother, leave me alone, i'm fine here". but the image kept getting larger and larger, then sound came from completely mute, to muffled, to clear in a few seconds. then the image overtook my entire vision and i said outloud, as i realized: "Oh. I fainted".
it was actually a fairly enlightening experience, i thought it was pretty cool.

WOW.... that was impressive! Gorgeous AGSM, of course.. i would expect nothing less from such an accomplished pilot. Your channel is rapidly becoming one of my new favorites... Keep up the good work, Hasard!
I wonder how quickly can the centrifuge change +/- the g loading? The initial loading increase was surprisingly quick according to the displayed numbers, but still lagged behind what in that coaster would have been almost instant jump to 9G. Would take tremendous power and force to change the RPM of that heavy arm that quickly, to simulate fraction second peak or dip on a profile.
Centrifugal equipment can get to extremes - it’s the meat bags, not the equipment - that is the limiting factor. 9Gs is nothing to the equipment.
@@Chiberia @wyskass861 is not asking about the acceleration the centrifuge can simulate, but the jerk i.e. rate of change of acceleration.
@@Chiberia A spin-up that rapid would create a lot of longitudinal Gs too. You'd need the seat to pitch forward so the longitudinal Gs become vertical Gs.
Wow… impressive!! Thank you for the video!! Lining up on the book purchase now!! Looking forward to the read! Thank you for your service to this country as well!
Absolutely amazing. Nice job Hasard!
So inspiring that video. I didn't expect all that effect on the body.. Book is very interesting too. Thanks for sharing all this stuff 😊 fascinating.
So I'm assuming this would absolutely work on regular folks if someone who had this much preparation and control over the situation could just barely take it
Yep, F35 pilots are no joke. Impressive!
Incredible. You guys are another reason I want to be a pilot.
It's amazing that you were able to get through this but the intense training that you and our (and other elite fighter pilots) too is amazing, it's also what sends fear to other non-friendly air-forces making them think twice and 3 times about taking on our fighters!

Awesome, fair play to you Hasard.
That is an amazing video for sure, pushing the limits of the body in more ways than one. From previous experience, I had to learn treatment methods for healing from injuries. There is a process known as HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment) for healing various injuries. The combination of a dive in the chamber, and the saturation levels of Oxygen at different dive depths provides the body with the opportunity to heal quicker with purer oxygen. I have finished one round of treatment, consisting of roughly 30 dives or sessions. I chose the treatment due to the limited side effects of breathing straight oxygen at different depths. My brain felt clearer, and my body healed much faster than from other methods. I hope to do another round of treatment in the next year.
Monster performance!! Amazing.
That was intense, Hasard!
Fun video but, Wikipedia claims the coaster maintains 10g for 60 sec. However, your test was at 9g for 38s.
Also I couldn't tell if you were wearing a suit that applied pressure to your lower extremities to make it easier to maintain blood pressure in your brain.
Impressive feat either way but doesn't really prove the roller coaster is survivable.
In a way it proves that it isn't.
Wow. Getting through the death coaster without G-Loc. Though when you think about it, the people "sentenced to death by coaster" don't have G-suits. I'm not sure the human body *without* one can even hold 9Gs, correct? I believe the G-suit helps you with about 3 of them? So once someone would be at 6.5Gs without the G-suit, then yeah, it'd be lights out, and that's *with* proper G-strain. *Without* them, I have to imagine that 30 seconds of sustained 9 Gs would do quite a bit of damage to regular people.
Also the coaster is designed to produce 10g for 60s not 9g for 38s. But still very impressive.
Friggin' legit, Hazard. Awesome job. How long does it take for the "G-zles" to go away?

6:26 170?!?! I got tunnel vision and nearly passed out when I reached 165 during a workout and he's upright and fully coherent at 170?!?!
Bro I have a heart problem and I start dying if it goes above 120 this dude is insane. 170. I can't even. 🤯😵💫 I would actually be dead
How old are you?
Not a dig, genuinely curious.
I'm 46 and I hit 180 during a sprint on my bicycle just today.
Ie: I can maintain full control of a bicycle doing near 40 mph shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of other riders in a finishing sprint with that HR.
My tested max when exerting myself is 180. Don't like going there... but I can do it For about 3 minutes before I'm so Depleted and O2 deprived (I'm full anaerobic at that point running on ATP and muscle glycogen) that I have to back off or risk passing out.
The younger 20-something guys can go 190ish in the sprint
135-145 is my butter zone - That, I can maintain for 3-4 hours.
Being cardio focused does have some interesting adaptations.
@@stinkyfungus Age has nothing to do with it as far as I can tell. The incident I'm referring to occurred when I was 17, I'm 25 now and I'm a lot more fit than I was back then. I typically don't let my heartrate go above 130 anymore, I feel like if you're cardio workout gets you above that point, you're doing something wrong.
Try increasing your weight or riding in a gear that offers more resistance. You're not doing your body any favors by doing low-exertion high rep types of workouts, that's how people die.
I reckon you might be trying to do something you're not really ready for and I don't think the riders next to you are pushing themselves to that extreme. I would definitely work harder building endurance before doing that level again.
@@cddevelopment363 It seems you're confused about how cardio should work. I'm 25, same as you. I ran 2 miles today and my heart rate peaked at 191 after I sprinted the end of it. I probably hovered around 145-155 for most of the 13ish minutes it took me to run it, but I don't have a tracker to tell me what it was. I might be off some, but it was definitely above 130.
From Colorado State University: "Zone 3 is the range for aerobic endurance work and should put you at about 70-80% of your HRmax." If you're 25 and your max HR is about 195, 75% of your max HR is 146 BPM. I was in the upper end of the range, but I think my max HR is probably a bit higher than 195. Point is, you can train in different zones to get different effects and that's totally fine and healthy, provided you listen to your body.
Also, who do you think you are anyway, telling this guy who's probably been riding a bicycle for years that he's "not really ready for" what he's doing and trying to give him advice? Have you literally ever participated in a race? Pushing yourself to the max at the end is what pretty much everyone does, especially if you're in a pack. That could be what decides who gets 5th and who gets 15th. You specifically train the final sprint if you're ever planning on racing.
One more thing. What are you on about, saying that high-rep workouts kill people? If you have an instance of that happening in mind, let me know. It doesn't make any sense for that to happen in a healthy person.
@@VvDiverDownvV bro 120 is normal i always hit 180 and more in a lot of workouts and im chilling , i ran a race and was at 180+ for 30 mins and still didnt hurt and i even reached 190 playing videogames

Would love to get your thoughts on the g effect in the Digital Combat Simulator Game especially for the F16 Viper and what they could do to make it more accurate, does it need to be more or less. Is it possible to hold the g for as long as they do in the simulator or not really? Thanks.
Honestly… G’s are dynamic every time you fly. So many factors go into how well you could withstand G’s for that day (prior nights sleep, hydration, physical fatigue, what you ate, etc). Monday, you could pull 9Gs fine on a HABFM sortie, then Tuesday have issues with 5-6Gs.
From my limited experience in DCS, they seem to represent G’s okay. In the F-16 specifically, the sim pilot seems to struggle/black out WAY too easily in the 8-9G realm… even with PBG active. They do add a nice touch that if you warm up with some G’s, the sim pilot seems to be able to withstand higher G for longer.
I think for a sim, it does a pretty decent job, especially for the general mass that won’t likely be able to experience the G forces in a fighter aircraft. It’s just a very difficult aspect of the fighter world to apply to a simulator… and there’s no real good way to replicate it. But again, I think they did a decent job and what they could for a video game.
Wish they would add AGCAS in the viper module though haha, since the pilot seems dehydrated AF xd
You made it look very easy! I hope more people won't try the same thing as you did without proper training.

Holy shit man, beasted that out!
Is that breathing technique similar to a Valsalva maneuver, where you hold your breath and bear down, only you don't actually close off your airway?
Bro holding sustained and continuous 9G for that long I have no doubts if you were on that roller-coaster holding 10G you could make it to 25seconds and recovery at the end with only 5seconds under black out conditions. You are incredible, next I challenge you to beat the USAF test pilot guy who held continuous sustained 12G (granted not for as long) but I think you can do it. 😉😁💪 Absolute legend
The Euthanasia Coaster would inflict 10G on its passengers for 60 seconds, so ummm, he would survive little bit longer, but for the last 50% of ride, he'll be blacked out and shortly after die before end
Damn I didn't realize how much pilots deal with while flying. I have so much respect for these guys.

Funny how your name on the Nastar Centrifuge Camera shows as Hazard...:D
You know, you could just put an outwards banked turn at the end to give off some sustained ejector airtime to wake every non dead up at the end of the ride
(Ejector airtime on roller coasters is when you pull negative G's and get the feeling of being shot off from your seat and your body hangs under your harness aganist the inertia
Well, both fighters and some drag racers are used to taking 9G regularly, but certainly not for THIS long. Damn.
