Men occupied themselves with drinking and whoring, the married women with gambling and "discreet" affairs that everyone knew about but didn't discuss openly. The Victorians who followed them censored them because they were ashamed that their ancestors had been so wicked.

@@Black_pearl_adrift you can go with "memey period drama" because that covers basically everything set in the past and doesn't tie you down to a particular historical era and also means you can talk about period films set in other countries that have the same meme vibe to them since Regency and Victorian are terms that only apply to British history. After all Gentleman Jack and David Copperfield both also have this sort of meme vibe to them and they are in fact set in the Victorian era. So yeah "Memey period drama" is the genre of choice.

I shied away from this movie for so long and felt like a total dunce when I finally did see it. The film was a glorious, chaotic experience. One minute I'd be engaged in the dialogue, then the costume, then laughing out loud at some witty scene. Would definitely watch again.

Mr. Elton would be the result if Ratatouille was a romance between Remy and Linguini, they had a child, and they dyed its hair brown

I don’t know why, but I absolutely love the actress who played Emma, Anya Taylor Joy. Seems so down to earth and cool!

Finally rented this movie on Friday and god i love it. Rewatched it like 3 times and already plan to buy the dvd. Y'all need to get to amazon and leave all the great reviews there. So many bad ones as people just dont understand how perfect the humor was done.

I felt like such a dork because I enjoyed the humor and "got it" but was still too attached to the more serious aspects of it and didn't fully appreciate it until the end when I realized that indeed I would need to watch the movie again **facepalm** 😂
