Hey friends! Just bringing you along on our journey at the 13 Acre House. Keep your eye out for the Donald in this video. Please give me your feedback including tips, tricks, observations and corrections. Love you folks! Maintain the KINDNESS!
We bought the same stove. I needed to convert it to LP. This was a great video. I would not of known how to complete the conversion without this video. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the detailed info!! Made our set up a snap!! Would have taken HOURS to figure out and probably hours of re-do's!! Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge!!😊
Thank you Wayne. I just bought a similar GE stove today and had to convert to LP. It was not exactly the same but your video helped so much. Very thankful for you Wayne.
Thanks for the kind words, Troy! I'm working on a third GE range video to address a problem I'm having with burners not lighting as they should. I hope to release it in about one week. Stay kind!
Thanks for the advice the problem has been solved! You guys with your valuable input & or advice is worth more than gold & has saved me a ton of time and expense!
Thanks Wayne, you made my day easy, the GE Stove manual does'nt clear where to access the pressure regulator, I was figure it out how I could access from behind. If it was'nt for you I was disarm all the stove from behind!😅. Thanks a lot!!😊
@WaynePolcin Thanks so much. I'm a retired service plumber and for some reason, converting my stove to LP scared me. Go figure. Thanks to your video, my stove is no longer a "conversation piece" and I can actually cook food with it!
Thanks for this nice, thorough video. (I have to do this now) One question, please. Before you turned around the regulator orifice, why did you shut off (push down switch)? And if it is really necessary, did you have to put it back on after you were done? You never showed this. Thanks, again!
Honestly, the only reason I turned it off is because the instructions that came with my range included that step. They said it had something to do with the ease of reinstalling the orifice. I questioned it too but did it anyway.
That’s an excellent observation! I forgot to turn it back on after reassembly. When I went to ignite the oven after completing the video, it wouldn’t light. That’s when it dawned on me that I forgot to flip the lever. Good catch!
The best laid plans… a small piece of something derailed your well thought out plan. Good recovery WP… one daily gift at a time at the new dwelling. Have a good “safe “one and Happy New Year to u and Suz the Q 🥳
Living life unscripted has its risks, but the rewards are great! If there is one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s to expect the unexpected and never panic.
After you toggle off the regulator and after I changed over to propane do I need to flip it back on? My burners are working great but my stove is not lighting. Great video it really helped a lot.
Before you go out and buy a orifices check the back of the range. After I purchased a kit I found that GE had provided Lp orifices on the back down by the gas value.
Hi Wayne! I had to do this on both my gas range and my gas dryer. While I did the dryer, my brother-in-law did the range. I don't think he paid attention to the orifice sizes however, because it has never really worked correctly. Simmering something on the front burners is impossible because the flames are too big even on low heat. I'm going to look at the orifices and maybe even go get a new set just to get the size chart for my particular range. It could be the air/lp mix is off, so I'll anxiously await your video on those tweaks. Hi to camera-shy SuzieQ and my love to you both. Merry Christmas, be kind!
Hi Angie. Have you tried looking your range model up on the internet? All the documentation for our range was readily available, even the conversion kit instructions. You can also deduce where the orifices should go by ranking them in size - smallest orifice goes with smallest burner, etc. Merry Christmas and lots of love to you too, Angie!
Always something to "work" on seems like. Requiring a licensed professional is from the company lawyers so they don't get sued when someone burns down their house. Merry Christmas to you and Suzie.
Merry Christmas to you as well. You’re right. No shortage of projects here, that’s for sure. I thought I’d better protect myself by adding the license requirements cuz you never know who your audience is until you get a lawsuit! Thanks for dropping in, John!
hi wayne, thanks for responding to my comment. much appreciated. best wishes. looks like you have a nice 13 acres. nothing like that in socal that us common folk can afford!
I can’t take credit for acquiring the 13 acres. My wife is the financial mastermind behind, not only the 13 acres, but the neighboring 53 acres as well. We may not have the gorgeous weather of SoCal, but being able to have 66 acres of wooded trails and very distant neighbors is a blessing I never thought I would experience in my lifetime. I wish you could visit and share the experience. Thank you so much for the kind comment! Stay kind my friend.
hi wayne, i got a magic chef stove from the trash and converted it to propane. it works but the flames are yellow, not blue, and they are very high. my guess is that i need to change to a smaller size orifice. in your conversion, were you propane orifices larger or smaller thank the stock ones? thanks
The propane orifices for LP are smaller than NG orifices. This is because LP operates at 11” WC, whereas NG operates at 7” WC. The hole sizes are based on the BTU design of each burner. So a burner rated for 9500 btu would use a 0.035” hole for LP and a 0.053” hole for NG, etc.
Question have you ever experienced propane detector pick up small trace amout of gas at red cap changed regulator still does it. Will not light with grill lighter but picks up with detector. Has this ever happened to you? I have read in forums this is normal operation any thoughts?
Make sure you turn the regulator valve back on. It’s that little lever I instructed you to turn off before replacing the regulator orifice. I forgot to mention turning it back on in the video. 😊
Hi! Question! If I already connected it to the gas line and electricity, in order to make these changes do i have to cut of power supply and shut off the gas?
The switch on the left side of the regulator is for turning the gas flow on and off. The down position is off on my case. This needs to be off to facilitate flipping the orifice on the regulator. Make sure you turn the switch back on when you’re finished flipping the orifice. I hope I understood your question correctly.
I recently purchased a GE model PGB965BPTS and successfully converted it to propane use except once I reversed the part for propane use the part is a 5/16 male brass fitting that wouldn't attach to the 5/8 supply line! Where would I get the part needed! I went to Lowes where I purchased the range from but they had no clue! Can you advice? Thank William
Hi William. Are you referring to the part on top of the regulator that you must flip to change the regulation pressure? The supply line should still be attached to the regulator as before you began the conversion. Please clarify.
I am confused about the gas regulator oven shut off being cut during the propane conversion . If this is done, the oven would not have gas to light the burner??
The manufacturer's instructions tell us to turn that valve off in order to make the orifice installation easier. It was my fault that I forgot to mention in my video that the valve should be turned back on once the installation is complete. That was my mistake. Great observation on your part. Thanks for the feedback!
So I did the necessary steps but when I went to ignite the oven the knob starting shaking and the flames bursted into the air. Got scared and shut off the LP valve.. what did I do wrong?
CAUTION: when changing the little jets be SUPER careful not to cross thread, ie... strip the the threads. Yes thanks you just saved me $200 for something that takes a little more than and hour to do.

But what a great help ...
I'm glad to hear that. Thank you so much for taking the time leave this kind comment!
Very good experience I now understand how to change natural gas to lpg thanks.
Thank you for the kind comment. I'm happy to hear that I was able to help. Take care!
So awesome! Great clear detailed video. thanks so much
Very useful and informative.
Thank you for the kind words!
Thanks bud. I appreciate the thoroughness of your instructions. Very helpful.
Thanks for the kind words, Mike. I'm glad it was helpful!
Thank you for such detailed vieo. I am confident on doing the conversion myself.
You’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful!
The Great Hartland Adventure. Merry Christmas, Wayne and Suzie!!
Merry Christmas to you and Sue! I hope both of you getting back to normal!
Did you flip that oven area "on-off" switch back to "on" and just not show or mention it?
I have the exact same stove.
Yes. I forgot to mention the need to flip that switch back on. My bad! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Did you flip the manual on/off switch behind the regulator back on or leave it off?

Hi Wayne and Suzie!!😀😀
Nice job buddy on showing us the conversion.
I hope you guys have a very Merry Christmas!!😀😀❤❤

Hi Al. I hope you had a Merry Christmas my friend! I’m so sorry I didn’t see you comment earlier! Thanks for checking in!
Thanks
nice work wayne thanks so much i assume when you finished with the regulator flip the lock should be set back up?
Yes. I get asked that all the time. I didn't realize I forgot to mention that step in the video. Thanks for the kind words!
SM HEARTLAND FESTIVAL! 👍🏼🧡👊🏼🔥🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄 Suzie & Wayne!
Merry Christmas to your family too my friend! BTW, did you catch Donald Trump in the video?
I like the SM Heartland Festival idea!
@@WaynePolcin sure did, I burst out in laughter....good stuff.
To Flip the switch I found it easier from the back with a screwdriver.
I didn’t consider that option. I guess I need to update my video. Thanks for the feedback!
When I loosened my oven orfice, the entire stud unscrewed not just the brass orfice. Any suggestions
Before you go out and buy a orifices check the back of the range. After I purchased a kit I found that GE had provided Lp orifices on the back down by the gas value.
Yes. Most manufactures include them with the new gas range. Great point!

How does the regulator spring work for two different size orifices ?
The orifices are different lengths and the length of the orifice controls the spring pressure on the regulator valve.
@@WaynePolcin thanks , that should of been obvious
Needing help with natural gas markings and how to know the order
Thanks the GE instructions are terrible ur video was spot on…
Thanks for kind words and the positive feedback!
Make sure you turn the regulator valve back on. It’s that little lever I instructed you to turn off before replacing the regulator orifice. I forgot to mention turning it back on in the video. 😊
@@WaynePolcin What happens if I forgot to turn it off/on in the first place?
The oven is .48 but the natural gas one has larger hole on top, where as the propane one has a smaller hole. That's the difference. Billy Morrison
Thank you for clearing that up, Billy!
After installing oven orifice, do we put the on and off switch of the regulator back to on position?
Yes. Did I forget to tel you that? Sorry. The oven will not light if you don’t.
Do you keep the lever that you used your finger to switch to off keep it off?
The lever needs to be set back to the original position. I forgot to include that in the video. Thanks for pointing it out!
I would not use a power tool on brass. Best to do it by hand
Hi! Question! If I already connected it to the gas line and electricity, in order to make these changes do i have to cut of power supply and shut off the gas?
You will need to shut off the gas. The electric is optional. But I would shut them both off just for added safety.

Less talk more rock
Otherwise ok
😡They should give you the choice of Lp or natural from the factory. Cost a lot if you are unable to do the retrofit yourself (age and bad knees).
Thank you for this video. The instructions this stove came with were not at all helpful.
You’re welcome. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Thanks for the video, very helpful and detailed. Well done!
