    Just a couple of points that are worth watching out for.
    New endmills are ground to an exact nominal diameter and most three jaw chucks rarely run exactly true which means that the finished keyway will end up slightly over width. Use a two fluted slot drill instead as it's manufactured to a couple of thou less than it's stated nominal diameter and is also the correct cutter to use for cutting keyways.
    Also if you grip the hardened shank of a milling cutter between hardened chuck jaws, it's likely to slip and work it's way back into or even out of the chuck. I find that using a bit of thin wall aluminum tube over the shank of the cutter prevents this.
    Love your idea for holding the workpiece though.

Pozdrawiam 😉

    Nice idea made through Lathe m/c. Instead use milling m/c or Shaping .
    Original key way suppose to go like this without make relief hole.
    Milling m/c suppose to End mill cutter.But this method removed Tool post made some fabrication by clamp system to hold the Shaft.
    Good finishing key way with tight key fitted.

    Isn't better to move in the stock rather than plunging in and milling out?

    • @katt9384
      @katt9384 5 років тому

      As long as it's a center cut endmill, it can do plunge cuts. Most 4 flutes come as center cut now. It used to be only 2 and 3 flute that came this way. It's usually dependant on the job, as well material being machined, as to wether you plunge or start away from the work and go in. Personally I cut keyways on a mill, but this is a great way to do the job with what you have. The only thing I would have done differently is I would have had my RPM up higher (around 700-900 RPM) for that size endmill.

    16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
    20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
