I remember catching Mushroomhead in dive bars when I was in college in Ohio in the 90s. They are WAY underrated and too often (and incorrectly) compared to Slipknot. They are their own animal!
You are not wrong at all. So unique and nowhere near a slipknot clone. Absolutely love them and im jealous you have seen them.
My band toured with them. Fire marshal had to shut down Peabody's 🤣

The new direction they’ve taken is so good. They deserve more credit, very underrated. Many people are complaining they’re going more mainstream, but I’ve got no problem with it. They deserve to make bank

@@mootkickee exactly, i swear fans suck sometimes and that's in all caps, SUCK! same thing goes on with Arch Enemy, Angela Gossow retired from the band so that she could be a mom, and she picked her replacement Alissa White-Gluz whose killing it btw... yet we got fans being like "bring Angela back!" so disrespectful to both ladies imo.
My favorite Mushroomhead song to date. I love how much Jackie adds to the songs.
So the whole message of the song (from my interpretation) is that throughout all of history, religion has been at the heart of so much war and need for control and the future generations are indoctrinated into this belief set. The "capsule" at the beginning was a nuclear warhead. The child was place inside of it along with a crucifix and rosery beads, symbolizing that the children never had a choice due to this indoctination and were forced into religious wars and conflicts.
Later into the chorus, he talks about divisions in sand (segregation and persecution,) sanctions for land (those in power grabbing up land from others and forcing those living on it to live as they command.) "We have to stand for something, walking hand in hand," meaning that it's time that we set aside these difference and come together as one people, casting off the ignorance of old dogma and striving for a common goal, that goal being a better future for our children.
Jackie is an awesome arsenal they added to Mushroom head. Carry on and we are the truth are other great songs with Jackie's voice
Maybe it's just me. But when you watch the 3 videos (this one, Carry On, We are the Truth) they seem to almost tell a story.

Been listening to them for about 3 decades now since my younger days back in Ohio. Can't tell you how many times we've gone to see their live shows but I've never left disappointed.
I love this song! The beginning of the video is actually their commentary of what we will go to war for, but will also fiercely protect at all costs. Family, religion, and children
and it also correlates to the lyrics - We feed the warmachine. Alex seems to have missed the correlation but there was no time capsule, she literally closed the child in that bomb. As Iron Maiden said, We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies. THis is just the depiction of that exact message.
Hell yeah, next you need to check out “Carry On,” which has all three vocalists. The female is Jackie La Ponza, the longtime gf of Mushroomhead’s drummer, Skinny. She became an official members just a couple years ago.
Great tune, would definitely be reaction worthy.

I found out about Mushroomhead because I always loved Slipknot and back in the days people were saying either band stole the mask idea from the other.
Jackie was usually in their videos at some point, just never really had a singing part until the past few years. I appreciate that she has a larger role in the band. Her way of singing matches so well with their style (and she is an absolute smokeshow). I believe that she is married/dating the drummer of Mushroomhead - and he also directs the music videos. Probably one of my favorite songs just due to how well done the video was done on top of it.
I'll be seeing Mushroomhead, Static-X, Fear Factory, and Dope next year. Already have my tickets!

I'm from Cleveland, so naturally with MRH being from here too, I got into them from my younger brother playing them so much when we were in high school. I got away from them when they shifted the two lead singers what seemed like every other album in the mid 2000's. This is the song that got me back into them after two decades. Miss Jackie fits J-Mann so well now. Also, it's great to see J-Mann back in a variant of his old-school corpse paint.
I've had their logo tatted on my shoulder since 2003. Seen and met them at ozzfest 02. Awesome band

Jackie LaPonza became an official member of Mushroomhead in like 2019-2020. she toured with them with her band Unsaid Fate frequently because she’s married to Skinny, the Drummer and founding member of Mushroomhead. She’s always kind of been an unofficial member, but has since been officially added to the roster.
Yes there was always a women dancing on stage in the early days back in NE Ohio but now performing and it’s awesome! SuperBuik!!!

I saw MRH at the 1720 club in LA a couple years ago with Unsaid Fate, The Browning, and a few other local bands. They were fuckin dope!!! I absolutely love seeing big bands in small venues.
I was skeptical when they added the female singer but her voice is pretty amazing and fits in well.
The "tomb" was a bomb. The stuff they filled it with are the sacrifices and symbols of what fuels wars. At least that's what I took from it.

Keep up the awesome work and may life bring you peace and happiness! They had a lady in the band in their very early days and then went without one for most of the 2000's. They brought a lady in, I think shes the wife of Skinny, the drummer. Shes a badass

Jackie is definitely my favorite member so far literally because she has the best singing voice and her camera appearance is creepy but alluring enough that often times it helps the music videos, also fun fact she said in an interview she couldn't see very well out of the white contact lense

There are so many great songs from all eras of Mushroomhead. Each lineup of singers brought about different vocal dynamics. Jeffrey Nothing, Steve Rauckhorst, and Waylon Reavis all added their own distinctive flavors to the vocals. If you like this type of music, another band you can check out is Motograter, especially back when Ivan Moody (currently of Five Finger Death Punch) was singing for them.

She's in a relationship with the drum Skinny and has been working with Mushroomhead since 2014. She became an official member during the release of their latest album A Wonderful Life.

The meaning? To quote Steve Felton: "We wanted to do something a little more thought-provoking this time around. With the current state of the world going to Hell in a hand basket, we wanted to incorporate something that delivered the swift transportation of certain doom. The manufacturing of war power and the stockpiling of faith. The willful destruction of the past, the future, and ultimately humanity."

I think you're missing the big picture on this one. As some have pointed out, the things we sacrifice and use as justification for war are family, children and religion, which is demonstrable as they are put inside the bomb at the beginning. "We feed the war machine", is stating how we perpetually keep providing these things as a sacrifice to the war machine and it will never stop so long as we keep feeding it.
The part that is missed is how antiwar the song is. With lyrics like "hide your daughters, your first-born sons" we are warned of the costs of war, which again is feeding the war machine:
1) young women that are taken as spoils of war or slaughtered to end a people's chance of a future
2) men, specifically young men that are sent to the front lines to die for the cause.
Both of these inevitable losses are decimating to a people, culture or country.
Further on, "as we welcome all your catastrophe", alludes to our complacency with our governments' choices to war with each other at the expense of us the people. While, "all the hate and the lies and the heresy", is about the justifications given for going to war and how it is a heresy to adhere to the reasoning for said war when the truth is otherwise known. Lastly, "how divine, that every time you hide in denial, suicidal kings", is a reckoning of how governments speak and act with absolute authority (the divine), yet the reasoning provided for war is most often contrary to the facts and routinely denied to the public in effort to justify continued warfare. In the end, they rule but are acting in a way that will end their reign by continuous warfare, because no king rules forever.
Later on we have the verse:
"Foster the future and nurture the land
Stitches and sutures, divisions in sand
Mass evacuations, sanctions for land"
This verse is a call to the people to look at what war has wrought upon the world and all of us. It is a resounding call to stand together and end this fallacy, as stated by "It's time we stand for something, Walking hand in hand."
If it were me, I'd be blasting this in public aiming the speakers at the White House and Capital Hill.

First time I heard Mushroomhead, me and friend were actually looking for something else way back in the day. Happened to be with another song we downloaded on like Kazaa or something. It was Solitaire Unraveling. Been my absolute most favorite group ever since.

Alex, bud…there has NEVER been a woman band member in Mushroomhead. That is, if you don’t count the stage dancer/performer Roxy from their earlier first three albums. She did not sing, just dance on stage and looked beautiful in often lingerie or sex appeal kind of outfits. Jackie LaPonza (who you see in this music video, all white-out contact eyed and ghoulish, undead kinda makeup, has been with the band since 2013, assisting and performing on stage with them- but not as a band member. Her tenure and joining as an official band member began in early 2019 and she is mostly a backing vocalist, although for a few songs on A Wonderful Life, she definitely does take lead! I think this is a tremendously smart and innovative move by Mushroomhead to include and welcome a woman onboard. Certainly adds dynamics they have never had before.

A wonderful life was my favourite album of 2020. I'm seeing them live in Bristol in 2 months, first time seeing them live, I can't wait.

No there hasn't been a front woman in mushroom head. But the one of three singers left so shes the lead vocalist and the same male lead vocalist still is in the band since 1993
