A hand on the gun is a tiny step from pointing it. Pointing means you damn well better: A)be ready to use it; and B)have good and sufficient cause for it.
Personally, I'd only point one at a cop if they decided to bust in my door without a warrant.

The sad reality is if they fear a camera to the point of violence it says they have no good intentions toward the public whom they serve. When they fear exposure, their actions are suspect. It boils down to the ball is in their court, it can be a public trust building experience or an example of what many know has infiltrated much too deeply into law enforcement.

Having been stationed in AZ while in the military, I’ve been saying for years that AZ breeds the absolute worst law enforcement officers on earth due to a combination keeping the same heavy handed tactics they used during the Wild West, and a tendency to intentionally hire officer with a violent history against suspects (entire depts in AZ are staffed by Brady list cops) under the philosophy that the best way to deter crime is to keep everyone in line is to make everyone afraid of LE, treat everyone like suspects or criminals and by dehumanizing immigrants, native Americans, suspects, and prisoners. What makes it even worse is that the voters that keep this system in place treat their LE and criminal justice system like the Roman coliseum where their police are the gladiators and people who are merely suspected of even the pettiest crimes are the defenseless rabble that are marched in to be cut down mercilessly by police for the voters entertainment (the show COPS and other LE reality shows were primarily filmed in AZ for this exact reason) and it’s why things will never change…..it’s just sick!

We lived in AZ for a year. I traveled a lot at the time for my job (traveling nurse) and I had a patient in the Fountain Hills area. Now, most states has a speed enforcement system where if you're doing "x" amount over the limit, you get a warning, ticket, or arrested if you're going 20+ over. Not AZ! 86 MPH will get you arrested. Period. Back in the early 2000s, I was going to Mayo Scottsdale for treatment. I lived in NM at the time. I was having a hard time after one particular treatment and wasn't paying attention to my speed. I passed a trooper in the median and thought nothing of it as I was looking for a place to pull over because I needed to.... be sick. I found a pullout and pulled into it. I got out and proceeded to see my lunch for the second time that afternoon. As this was going on, Mr. trooper pulled in behind my car, a Shelby Mustang and ran my plates. He at least let me finish before he slashed me. Not sure if that was for his sake or mine. Anyway, as I was walking back to my car, he got out and asked if I was ok. I told him yes I just needed to sit down. He had me lean against my car. I passed out, cold. When I came to, a few seconds later, he was standing over me, asking me how much I had to drink. I cleared my throat and told him zero. I explained that I was coming from Scottsdale Mayo and had received treatment. He then asked if I'd run through some field sobriety tests at which I'm legally still laying on the ground. I told him yes, I'd do that but asked if I could just save us the hassle and just blow. He said no, he wanted me to do the tests. I clawed my way back to a standing position, about to toss cookies again when a second trooper pulled up. He got out and asked what was going on. I told him the same story, I was on my way home from Scottsdale Mayo and that the treatment had made me sick. He immediately called for an ambulance, gave me some water, told me the traffic stop was over, and offered to call my husband for me. He walked over to the other trooper and told him to get back to traffic (I'm assuming that meant pulling people over) and that he would talk to him later. When trooper "A" gave some resistance to trooper "B", "B" said, "I gave you an order. Do it, or go home. She's obviously not intoxicated. You need to stop harassing her, get in your car, and go back to work. If you say one more word other than "yes, Sir," you're done for the day." Trooper A tucked tail and left the scene. Trooper B apologized and asked me if I needed water to rinse my mouth and waited with me until the ambulance arrived. I was able to take some nausea medication and was let on my way. Before letting me go though, he told me to not ever exceed 86 MPH because they can arrest you, impound your car, and suspend your license. I was very thankful that he helped me and didn't take my car or license.
My husband is an ex-deputy, he was working for the local Sheriff's Department when we met. He quit because of corruption and he doesn't agree with a lot of the laws, especially traffic stuff. He's now a therapist for veterans.

Yet crimes like murder, rape, theft, assault and the like have shot up astronomically nationwide.
