I always wondered with cops such as yourself when you were in and woke up to the fact that they wanted to create the us vs them mentality. Did the rest of the people around you start to alienate you and isolate you thinking you wouldn’t “have their back” or have you heard of someone who has openly thought more about citizens than the thin blue line be ostracized? Make it more of a hostile work environment to push somebody out?

In Phoenixville, PA my grandson (age 12) and I were looking in a police vehicle at a convenience store and a police officer came up and opened the door and let us look in, sit in, turn on the lights and siren briefly. He even explained some of the stuff inside. He even let my grandson touch the shotgun (which was locked). That is the way it should be all the time with police officers and cops. Very cordial, polite, friendly & helpful. Then we robbed the convenience store. No, just kidding. We thanked him and left.

If I were looking in or anyone from 15 to 40s alone were looking in, I have a strong feeling it wouldn't be the same reaction from that officer unfortunately

Sounds like, I hope not, you're leaving it all up to the auditors. We need to get involved too. Do you do anything when you see police have stopped someone? Do you record when you go into a government building for services? Do you at least flash your highbeams to warn drivers a cop is shooting radar? I've stopped, gotten out, and started waiving for people to slow down, cop ahead. Have you ever talked to a cop about your grievances with other cops so they might know how the public is feeling towards them? They can't do it alone, they need us more than we need them. Be involved or things will never change for the better. I hope my judgment is wrong about you. Stay safe out there.

“The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.” - Plato
This quote from Plato basically means that if you’re indifferent to public affairs or politics, you’re going to be victims to evil men in the sense that those who are good, generally have no need to amass control over others. Evil men on the contrary require control over others so that they are not held accountable for their crimes.
Good men are often humble and don’t require positions of authority for self-validation. In Plato’s opinion, Good Men shouldn’t rise to office because they want it for their own gain. But Good Men should rise to office because it is their moral duty to prevent evil men from doing so.
Law Enforcement, “Useless when they’re needed the most, destructive when they’re needed the least.”
There is no situation that cannot be made worse by involving the police.
"If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas Jefferson
Ignorance of the law is no excuse unless you're a cop, then it's a defense to keep qualified immunity.

There are a ton of auditors who would have gotten this situation out of hand (not taking up for police, they should know better), but Good Guy Audits keeps them in that zone where they can't do anything, and they know it. If I were a cop (it'll never happen), as soon as I recognize that I'm talking to an auditor, I would tell them to have a nice day, and happy auditing. When I was 16, I was elected to the board of a youth organization. Someone had drawn a diagram of the organizational structure, with the president on top, and the members at the bottom. As he showed it to me, I made some comment about "the leadership", which drew the attention of our president. He looked at the diagram, told us we had things upside down, turned the diagram around, and pointed at the members, who were now on the top, and said "that's the leadership; we're at the bottom; we do as they wish". It was something I already knew, on a theoretical level, but had never properly realized the consequence of. It was a revelation for me, and I've never seen organizations, including governments, the same way since.
Thit is what some cops haven't understood. They're not above the public, they're below. There are specific procedures for how The People can give commands; electing politicians, who write the laws, make the budget, and appoint top officials, who then hire and command those below them. The complexity may obscure the ranking, but, nevertheless, The People is the leader, and the cops are the lowest employees. While no single citizen can order them about, that must still command respect, in a democracy.
Btw, the president was the same age as me. Smart kid.

You could always have chosen to work for a private company, and you would never be subject to public scrutiny. This guy said it perfectly: "You don't have rights, you have duties." That's the most succinct explanation I've seen in these videos. You want the same rights as a private citizen? Don't work for the public.

I took the NYPD training in NYC, and I promise you... They are taught that they can do anything and say anything they want and NOT have to worry about consequences at all, even if they kill someone. They train every single officer to say, "Your honor, I was in fear of my life." As long as those words are said, they have absolutely NOTHING to worry about. They are taught that they are better than everyone because of the job, and they are protected because of the job. This is drilled into their heads from the very first day of class till the last day of class. It will take an act of Congress to change they way policing is done in this country.
