Maybe it's too late to ask, but last hand's bidding: What do you think of responding with the four-card major first, then showing my diamonds on the second round? I have enough points, and my pard and I play that when responding to a 1m bid, trying to find a 4-4 major suit fit is better than first announcing - my - 5-card minor.
Hi Rob, On the last hand N opened a 1C and south bid 1D - why didnt south bid 1H -i thought the priority was to show a 4 card major over a five card D suit?
I think most people bid up-the-line when you have a second bid. So even 3-4-4-2 with this had would still bid 1D. The priority to show a four card major comes up if responder was 5-9 HCP and the is only worth one bid. In that case as they will only be able to show one suit, they should show the major over the minor.
Should duck spade rather than play for club end play since, as mentioned, east can unblock. Should probably also use hearts as entry to play diamonds twice towards iQJxx in case east has Ax. (Possible if West has lead doubleton spade.)
@@johnlewis8031 On Trick 10, E has Kx clubs, Qx spades. South plays AC and E pitches KC, setting the Jack in W. On Trick 11, if S leads clubs, West wins, and East scores QS on Trick 12 or 13. So EW takes 2 Tricks. On trick 11, If S leads spades and plays JS, E wins QS, leads clubs to West JC. Again EW takes 2 of last 3 Tricks.
Mary Hartman here and enjoying these soo much. Thank

Bd 1. E should throw KC on AC, avoiding the end play. W wins the next club lead and E wins his QS.
Perfect play
If that happens could just duck a spade, win (club) return and drop spade queen for same result
