Very nice to see these videos. The polls are also informative: gives an idea how various people come to very different conclusions, even about the same issue. 🤔
Thank you Tony I enjoyed this video. At 3min 40 approx you mention, as responder, never bypassing a 4 card major. At 9.35 you mention 'as dealer you'd have opened 1NT' . So, is it ok to bypass the 4 card majors as declarer, (bidding a 1NT) but not as responder. Very helpful lesson, much appreciate it.
The top 4 of root causes needs to be addressed before players can improve their bidding. Not in a specific order; Overbidding Underbidding Failing to evaluate hand over and over again as bidding progresses Using conventions one doesn't master
Yes in general, it’s a bad idea to let the opponents play at the two level. On this hand West is in the passout seat and might decide to bid 3D although you only have five points so it is a bit scary. That would probably push the opponents to 3 spades. I think 3D might be defeated by two tricks so would be a bad contract to be in if you were vulnerable (-200).

Glad you like them!
very useful video! please make videos about common mistakes in playing the hand and defending!
Many thanks for your comments. Yes, I will be making videos on mistakes in declarer play and mistakes in defence.

A mistake I regularly see is .. Pre-empting with a hand that is too strong. ie, 7 card suit with 12+ HCP

You make some very good points!
Brilliant lesson, Thanks a lot!
In that first deal, isn't it a general rule not to let you opponents play at the two level if they've found a fit...so should E/W have doubled?

We play opening with a major need a 5 card suit.
And this is why I refuse to play with randos online. If it is someone you know then you can coach them. Otherwise it is just infuriating to deal with.
Don't we need 5 H to open 1H?
The bidding system I use in these talks is Acol, which is 4 card major.
oh ya responder promises 4
i thought you needed 5 spades to bid spades
