As Ruby's dad, I couldn't be prouder of her and this incredible documentary. Each time I watch it, I find something new that makes my eyes "malfunction" (thanks for that term, @CaptainGrumblebum). I'm deeply moved by the wonderful, positive comments from viewers, and knowing that the documentary touches others so profoundly makes my eyes malfunction all over again. Watching it takes me back to the '70s, sitting in the main stand with my dad, our season tickets in hand, just behind Brian Clough. I can still feel the intense emotions when Liverpool set foot on our hallowed ground-the only team that truly concerned me back then. Little did I know that one day my daughter would create a documentary about my beloved Forest. Life is truly amazing... and we're still in the Prem! #NFFF #COYR
My daughters are only 10 and 8, but if one of them hasn't made a documentary about Forest by the time they're 21, I'm going to be INCREDIBLY disappointed in them.
James I've been a Forest fan since 1978 when I bet my dad 10p that forest would beat Liverpool in the 1978 league cup final but it's quite strange really in all that time I've ever only been to the city ground 10 times the first game I went to was against Coventry city in 1991 when teddy sherringam scored the winning goal I went with my penpal who would you believe was a Derby county fan my penpal treated me to the game she even paid for my ticket and as an added bonus she knew one of the stewards and I got permission to go to the tunnel and get some autographs I got Roy Keane's Nigel Clough even big Norman who will know was Mark crossley it was fantastic as you will know we won the game
Thanks Ruby.... I'm a Malaysian who's been supporting Forest since 1977.My dream came true when in January 2020 i went to City Ground with my 2 sons watching their game against Reading. The Championship game ended in 1 all draw.I hope I'm able to come to City Ground again and watch them playing in the Premier League .I hope they conquer Europe again, hopefully I witness that in my life time.COYR.....
Hi Ruby ( I was brought here by @ForestFocus) beautiful documentary! I welled up from the opening titles, to the very end and many times in-between🥲. Tears of joy and sadness. Sadness because my Dad died in 2017 due to Cancer, I would have loved to have shared with him our promotion back to the Prem, he took me to my first Forest game sometime around 1985/86 (I would be 6-7 years old), we sat in Executive Stand (the Brian Clough Stand as it is now), I remember how steep and dangerous it was, the smell and the noise, the view of the pitch, it was under floodlights and it looked like something out of a dream, I couldn't tell you who we played but I can tell you it made a mark on me and I've never looked back. I savour every trip to the City Ground, I don't get there as much now as I wish as I live in London but I travel back whenever possible. My Dad used to row for Notts Union Boat Club (the red boathouse just up from the Trent End) when he died we took a boat out onto the Trent and scattered his ashes into the water between the Boat Club and the Trent End, I hope in some way he'll always be with me at every game. You really got across how important the club is, how loved it is regardless of where it might be in the league or how trendy it might be. It's not about stature, fashion or money for us, us Forest fans it's about a love, a desire and respect for what we feel is special and we are special, we are different, we are rebels, WE are Nottingham Forest Football Club x
As a fan who was fortunate enough to be at the Bernabeu in 1980 (sold my first car to buy the ticket), it is vitally important that the younger generation understand the history of this great club and it gives me great comfort that Ruby will take this love and understanding forward. Excellent piece of work
Massive…. I am from Bangkok, Thailand yea also a Forest fan. This is a passion I wanna sense by myself. Every time there s a get-together, the native fans always tell the wonderful stories at the city ground and matches over there. It s something many Thai Forest fans have never sensed but dreamt of. Thank you for the documentary…. Now it s also spreading in Thai Forest fan club. You reds, mate
Saw my first game in 1966 (lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle) and then followed home and away until 1998 when I moved away from Nottingham, so saw all the European glory under Clough. Now follow vicariously through TV and Forest Focus podcast and always impressed by Ruby's contributions.............but this tops it. Brilliant. Well done.
Absolutely brilliant Ruby, this had me in tears at 66 yrs of age. I lost my Dad on 7 May and I talked in my eulogy about how he took me to the City Ground when I was about 7 in the mid 60's and I've been going ever since. He hadn't been to a game for a long time but that connection will always be there. That (latest) trip to Wembley was unbelievable. It was so LOUD! We were so high up you couldn't hear the ref's whistle. Thank you again x
What a fantastic piece that was. Im 63 now and have been so lucky to have seen us win the league at Coventry followed by 10 trips to Europe including both European cup semis and finals all the Wembley fa cup and league cup finals and have spent literally thousands of pounds over the years following our great club home and away. However one of the most emotional and heartfelt joy moments for me was witnessing the thousands of our younger supporters at long last after 23 years of waiting experience the absolute joy of finally winning promotion in the play off final giving them a taste of what a lot of my lot experienced so many times back then. Actually chocked me up to be honest.
This is incredible. This is what separates us from the elite. Real fans who support their team every week and make coming to a football match everything it always has been and should be. I'm a forest fan from ireland. You reds
1957 my first game, gone ever since through playing and working, season tickets, no season ticket, season ticket for me,an my lad at 7 bonding time every other Saturday, sat on the floor outside thee chip shop, fish and chips. Bonding time it was a pleasure through the good and the bad, I just want my son to have some of the good I had🥴 up the reds!🙂
Well done Ruby! You’ve captured all of the emotions involved with following Forest through the generations. And what a great advert for staying at the WFCG!
I’m a Forest fan born and raised in Nottingham, I’ve lived in Melbourne for the last 12 years, and even though I’m almost as far away as someone can be, I’ll always be here to support the reds. Loved this, what a doco Ruby, you really hit the nail on the head.
Absolutely brilliant Ruby. It makes me so happy knowing that you have continued loving the beautiful game and are seemingly destined for a career in sport. Your passion comes through in this video, as does your dedication to this project. I enjoyed every minute! Congrats!!
Ruby - that was just a brilliant watch. You captured everything it means to me as a lifelong Forest fan. The pride, the emotion, the bafflement (at times) the sheer enjoyment as the club overcomes its latest hurdle. They should show this in the dressing room to all our players. Brillant.
Fantastic documentary Ruby, I was truly emotional in parts of this, well done you and everyone who participated in putting this together. Come on you Reds!!!!
September 26th 1970, Forest v Leeds. I was nine years old. I lived about 15 miles away from the City Ground. A couple of friends said "We're going to watch Forest". I said to my mum "Can I go and watch Forest?". It was a terrible game, it finished 0-0 but Forest had me. 53 years later and they still have, there's been good times and bad, but I'm still here. We've all spent a king's ransom following them, but what adventures we've had. Wembley on numerous occasions, I was in Munich on that glorious night. I wasn't at Wembley for the play off final though (I could have got tickets in the Huddersfield end, should have risked it), I was watching at home with my daughter who, in the last few years, has watched with me and taken Forest to her heart. If we won, I had it planned, I was out in the car blasting out 'Just can't get enough', a sixty plus year old man doing this. When the whistle went, that plan went out of the window, I put my head in my hands and cried. Someone once said to the great Bill Shankly "Football is like life and death to you, isn't it?" Shankly replied "No, it's more important than that". Bill knew. Great video, well done.
I’m a Geordie & I’ve been a Forest fan since 1967 when aged 14. At that time all of my friends were Newcastle or Sunderland fans, but I wanted to be different. In 1967 I was invited to stay with friends at Clipstone. During that week I went to see a midweek division 1 match at the city ground ‘ Forest v Coventry’ which resulted in a 3-3 draw. From that moment on I’ve been a fan. My friends all laughed at me for choosing Forest but I can safely say I had the last laugh 😂 COYR
You absolutely nailed it Ruby. Turning left from the bridge over the Trent. The second chorus of Mull of Kintyre after the music stops. The clatter of seats when we counter-attack. Celebrating with strangers when we score. And the fact we all think Forest are magic, even if we are battling for 17th in the Premier League.
when you go abroad and wear your forest shirt ,there is always someone else a forest fan ,they always talk to you about where you from and forest ,no matter where you are ,its great no matter if you not much of a talker ,it always get you talking .its the love of the club ,nothing better
Become aware of Rubys work on the Forest Focus podcast, she always speaks so well and knowledgeable on Forest, so when this came up on my feed had to click. What an amazing little documentary - when I was a young man I went to the City Ground every week, driving from Northamptonshire and standing in the Trent End. Unfortunately one car crash driving up and some other medical issues took their toll and I’ve not been back for a such a long time. This video made me feel that passion and love again, tickets are hard to come by now but hopefully will get back soon, with my daughter.
Thanks Ruby for this excellent video - made by a Forest fan for the Forest fans. I was a season ticket holder during the glory years, but I have always listened to their games despite leaving the UK in 1981. From blizzards in the the Himalayas to sand storms the Negev Desert, I experienced the agony and ecstasy of being a Forest fan. Enjoy your summer.
Thanks to Ruby for putting this together.I am from Ireland and have supported Nottingham Forest since 1979.I have been through plenty of the hard times. In the last 5 years I have traveled over to the City and gone to many games at the City Ground.I went to the Playoff Final and your piece reminded me of the amazing seat I had and the atmosphere of the day.Just behind it though was the semi final game at the City Ground against Sheff Utd .What memories and good times this Club has given me and more to come hopefully.Again great documentry Ruby well Done
You have made a wonderful documentary , It's been a emotional watch for me , but an immensely rewarding one. Well done Ruby, You have managed to capture a little piece of the magic. You have a very bright future ahead of you!
As a man of 45 years, I do not cry, at all. I must admit that I had a small tear during this, as it reminded me of where we have been and where we are now. I can't believe you managed to get the best footballer I have ever seen on this, the great Stanley Victor Collymore. Our club is a very special one. Thank you Ruby.
Got my first season ticket as a 6 year old back in 1988 and instantly fell in love. With thank to my late uncle who funded them season tickets for the years that followed. My late uncles got a brick in the wall ( the engraved ones.) This was my way of making his memory last at the city ground and my way of saying thank you, not just for the season tickets, not just for the cup games, not just every programme that he got me at every home game, not just for creating those memories, especially those European nights under Clark but for making me a Forest fan. Forest can take you to the heightest highs but can also take you to the lowest lows. Being a Forest fan is never easy but we are passionate and getting promotion back to the premier league had me in tears. Now with this great owner and the ambition he has, that we all have. Its time to show the world that despite being asleep for a little while, this sleeping giant is still here and he slowly waking up. Great documentary Ruby. #nffc #coyr #nowthenforeverforest
I loved this documentary. Some of by fondest childhood memories come from watching Forest with my dad at the City Ground. I now live in Japan with my wife, but I still try to follow every game. Perhaps the game which means the most to me was the 3-2 win over Leicester in April 2011 and the little run of wins we put together to end the season. This came just a few weeks after my town had been devastated by a tsunami. In the days that followed I suddenly found myself at the centre of an intense global media storm as a “tsunami hero” which was something that never sat right with me as my natural reaction to adversity is always to dig deep and work hard. Forest were my release during this time as I listened to the radio broadcasts and for some reason those memories have really stuck with me.
Well done Ruby I've shared this with my Forest supporting son and all my Forest supporting friends, I've been going to see the reds since the mid 80s and you've nailed it on the head with this documentary, well done. ❤❤
Spot on Ruby. My cousin played for Forest, so it was always part of my life. My mother and I both represented female teams in different generations. We go every week with 3 generations now. I literally can't wait until I can take my grandson, too.❤️🤍⚽️ #WFCG #COYR #FTID
Thanks for sharing Ruby. Its fans like you and the others in this video that makes me proud to support this club. Its more than just support for a team, its an identity. COYR.
I've wanted to watch this since it was first mentioned on The Forest Focus podcast last year... And it did not disappoint! I was not expecting to get teary eyed, but the fact I did either days something impressive about Ruby's film making or embarrassing about me and my weakness for the club. Thank you for Sharing Ruby! I hope you got a first!!
What a magic video! That was Awesome Ruby & very emotional. You nailed what it means to us hardworking families & generations of Nottingham FOReST fans. Some magical fans stories here and memories 🥺 As a lifelong FOReST fan (my first game was at the City Ground in 1978 against Derby!) in the A Block 5 years old with my family and I was hooked. The rest is history.. through to getting off our seat to Stan to being at Wembley 2022 with my son to enjoy the best day ever! You've managed to capture all the Magic of 'what it means' to us to be a FOReST Fan and part of our Magic Reds Family. No matter what the ups & downs, we are together the best fans and Reds family. You & your family should be so proud as we are.👏 COYR!!! ❤🔴✨️
Great job Ruby! It's very difficult to get across what the clubs means to some people and what it means to families without it feeling a bit false and contrived but I think you nailed it. You should be very pleased with what you have created.
Absolutely fantastic work. As someone like yourself who doesn't get to many games due to location (albeit not as far as you), this really resonated with me, and it hits what it is to be a red! Well done
Very nice video, sums up how a lot of families in Nottingham feel about “our” club. There was no way my two children boys or girls would support anyone else me and my son have season tickets and my daughter had one with me and “sat in” before my son was old enough; both love forest. My first game; Hull City at home I think was 1976/77 season old division 2 we won 2-0 I stood with my dad and brother in the old east stand which is where I sit now (Brian Clough stand). Thanks Ruby, this has brought back some nice memories
I have been a forest fan since 1956 amazing years with brian clough been on city ground when there was 59 thousand five hundred we beat man utd 2.1 they gad law charlton best it was rocking
Loved this brilliant Ruby just brilliant, like you all our Family are Forest Fans. Fathers sons sisters brothers cousins there must be 20 of us that go ❤❤
I have just had a granddaughter, and this wonderful documentary brought a tear to my eye at the end. How I can't wait to take her to the world famous for the first time and let her feel what I feel at every home game. This football club runs deeper than just football, it's more than that, much more, it's all of you, the supporters that make it what it is. The City Ground has football God's as its ghosts, and many supporters souls who went before us all, who are no longer here today, they all roam around unseen at every game, they are there though, I feel them and I know true supporters feel them too. What we have is special, this amazing piece of work shows the world why it's "always to be here" and only here. Bravo Ruby, fabulous stuff.
What a magical documentary encapsulating and articulating what Nottingham Forest is as a club and in the wider footballing fraternity. This documentary should be on the NFFC website and should be viewed on the biggest of platforms. If anybody didn’t know; they do now. Fabulous. Unqiue. Youu Redss!!
All I'll say is thanks. Its difficult to encapsulate what a football club can mean to so many random people, especially from such diverse backgrounds. I think of the random days I've spent with my dad travelling to whatever grounds we go to, all to see us play awfully and lose. Wembley made up for that. He saw us during the 'glory years', I'd never been until that day. Like a lot of people have said, the experience of that day that myself and my dad had, is something that neither one of us will forget. I'm really happy to see that you've touched on how it can help people with their mental health, I've struggled all of my life with my MH, but, Forest have allowed me to 'turn off' my head, and actually focus on something else, even if its just for 90 minutes a week. Those people who sit around me are just as much of a help to me and my condition/illness, as any doctor or therapist. They treat me as a Forest fan, not the fat guy who struggles to leave the house as he wants to die. Thank you for showing what the club means to us. COYR.
Not going to lie, Mull of Kintyre always brings a tear to my eye and gives me goosebumps, whether I'm at the ground, or if I can hear it from my house.
Great work Ruby :) What an awesome documentary. Even though I am not a Forest fan, I can feel the energy the supporters share among each other and their love for the club.
What a brilliant documentary Ruby, well done you. Watching it brought lots of smiles and a few tears along the way, I will most probably watch it again for sure. 👏👏
almost cried inside the first minute. so "thanks" Ruby. Honestly, this is a great piece, loved hearing about your story on Forest Focus, and been looking forward to seeing this. Well done!
This is brilliant! You encapsulated the club and the city perfectly, thanks for making this brill documentary :) I was born a Forest fan, literally named after Stuart Pearce, and some of my best memories growing up are season after season watching matches with my dad. Currently living in Singapore and missing Notts and the City Ground every day. Love the fanbase, love the culture FTID!!!
Really loved this Ruby, gave me goosebumps at times. You really articulated and captured what it means to be a Forest Fan. I've sat here just smiling :-)
Very emotional and natural, is it the same at other clubs I do not know, but the City Ground is a special place, I can recall taking a car load from Norfolk to an evening game, one in the car had no interest in football at all but as I dropped him off he said "let me know when you are going again I want to come." I have been a Forest fan since 1954 and although I am now in Thailand I will always be a Forest fan and due into Nottingham on the 11th June at 1051, Notts will always be home.
Ruby This is just magic, it conveys all we love about the game, our city and our Forest. I love the way you have presented all of this simply and authentically for anyone to understand. I hope you get a first class honors for your dissertation. It stirred lots of deep emotions within me.
Well that was rather wonderful. Love the description of the world-famous City Ground as a secular version of church, as opposed to a mere stadium, a place of worship, an act of devotion. Just a shame that Steve Cooper didn't feature more directly in the film. We owe him and will always be in his debt, regardless of his sad departure.
As Ruby's dad, I couldn't be prouder of her and this incredible documentary. Each time I watch it, I find something new that makes my eyes "malfunction" (thanks for that term, @CaptainGrumblebum). I know what you mean James about Liverpool. I still remember 1-1 draw on Boxing Day in 1977, probably the best game of football I’ve witnessed.
Had me in tears, what a great job she did....YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Captured the essence of being a Forest fan,,,,it's mostly downs which means we really appreciate the ups. Well done Ruby, I really enjoyed this
What a wonderful piece of film-making. Tears in my eyes. Ruby, you encapsulate it all. Thank you.
Nice job Ruby. I’m a Nottingham lad born & Bred. Living in West Virginia. My first game at the world famous city ground was Boxing Day 1963.

WELL DONE YOUNG LADY!!! You did our club proud and we as a Forest family are proud of you.. many more blessings in your future
Well Done Ruby. An excellent film. You should be so proud of yourself. You Reds.
Wow! What a story @bobbybailey3012.
Brilliant Ruby, well done 👏
Awesome 🙌 U Reds 🌲
Brilliant video Ruby, tears running down my cheeks. I wouldn't know what I'd do if Forest wasn't part of my life. My forever family
Absolutely nailed this Ruby! You captured this wonderful football club and the fans perfectly :)
Wow just wow you reds 🔴⚪️
Ruby you nailed this!! I literally ran from work at lunch time to get into the Square on time before the players, Cooper, Marinakis spoke! #NFFC
Well done Ruby I've shared this with my Forest supporting son and all my Forest supporting friends, I've been going to see the reds since the mid 80s and you've nailed it on the head with this documentary, well done. ❤❤
Great work Ruby. Set me off a bit at times 😢😅 We really ARE magic ❤
Nailed it Ruby 👊❤️
Thanks for sharing Ruby. Its fans like you and the others in this video that makes me proud to support this club. Its more than just support for a team, its an identity. COYR.
Wonderful work Ruby, well done!
Come on you reds.
Brilliant documentary Ruby. Captures everything all us Forest fans feel. Well done.
Special football club. You reds!
Brilliant, Ruby. Thanks for making this.
Absolutely fantastic work. As someone like yourself who doesn't get to many games due to location (albeit not as far as you), this really resonated with me, and it hits what it is to be a red! Well done
Brilliant, 33 and I’m sat crying listening to the Mull Of Kintyre. I can not wait for the season to start!!!!!! COYR❤
Thanks Ruby, what a wonderful documentary which cover both the club and the city.❤❤❤
I have been a forest fan since 1956 amazing years with brian clough been on city ground when there was 59 thousand five hundred we beat man utd 2.1 they gad law charlton best it was rocking
Brilliant Ruby ❤❤❤ COYR
Well done from Australia Ruby. World famous City Ground indeed!
What a truly wonderful piece of art. Well done Ruby that was truly amazing. Keep up the good work and wish you all the best for the future.
@NFFC1979 Encapsulating
COYR.
Wow..well done it's absolutely fabulous ! ❤
Not going to lie, Mull of Kintyre always brings a tear to my eye and gives me goosebumps, whether I'm at the ground, or if I can hear it from my house.
SUPER SUPER SUPER
Well done Ruby
You put tears into a 48yr old :)
You Reds!!!
Great work Ruby :) What an awesome documentary. Even though I am not a Forest fan, I can feel the energy the supporters share among each other and their love for the club.
Absolutely brilliant! Goosebumps every 30 seconds! Truly encapsulates what Forest means to so many people! Well done! 🔴⚪️
This girl just gets it ❤ COYR
Well done Ruby - excellent work - nailed it. You Reds!
What a brilliant documentary Ruby, well done you. Watching it brought lots of smiles and a few tears along the way, I will most probably watch it again for sure. 👏👏

This is brilliant! You encapsulated the club and the city perfectly, thanks for making this brill documentary :)
I was born a Forest fan, literally named after Stuart Pearce, and some of my best memories growing up are season after season watching matches with my dad. Currently living in Singapore and missing Notts and the City Ground every day. Love the fanbase, love the culture FTID!!!
Lovely film. Well done. COYR!

Had lump in my throat at times watching this. Absolutely wonderful and emotive. Thank you.
Love it. Great work Ruby. Deserves a 1st!
Ah man that was brilliant. Thank you.
This is a very intimate documentary, it’s very well researched and delivered! But it’s also true, we are one giant family of Reds fans 👍🏼🌲
Really loved this Ruby, gave me goosebumps at times. You really articulated and captured what it means to be a Forest Fan. I've sat here just smiling :-)
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby what a wonderful piece of work!
Great watch. Made me proud to be Forest fan. Already missing the City Ground.
