What pisses me off even more is when non car people then tell us that we should just go to a race track if we want to drive fast or spirited... this applies moreso to the self-driving car and ICE car ban discussions about people who rightfully point out that cars are a hobby to many people and by banning the act of driving or discouraging the production of fun cars, hobbyists are screwed over. Insurance will fuck you over if you tell them you want to take your daily or weekend car to the track. If you want to be super legal about it you need a car to tow your racing car, not to mention a helmet and other safety equipment installed in your car. Then there's the matter of driving to your nearest track on a day when you have time to go to the event being held, and paying the fee. I drove nearly half a day just to go to my first autocross event! as far as I know, my "local" track doesn't host anything but track days and races, which my WRX is certainly not eligible to participate in. If they did, I'd try to go there more because idgaf about watching races, I want to drive! But yeah people think that we can just "go to a racetrack" whenever we want. It is quite literally cheaper and easier to just send it down an empty road at night when no one's looking.
I call it the suburban cancer cell. it's the same shit that devours farmland and wilderness while making the city infinitely worse because everyone who visits bitches and whines about a lack of parking. I live in St. Louis where we haven't had a racetrack since the 90s, and its current site is now a residential development way on the edge of wentzville generating far more traffic than the racetrack could ever hope to. the suburbs ruin cities, now let's spend the next 50 years undoing the damage
US. Government: We want young people to stay away from illegal activities such as Street Racings Also US. Government: *Keep pressing local racetrack managers with more obligations and taxes* Young people: alright then. I GUESS NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND IS REAL NOW!
They're going to look even more stupid when more Racecars become Hybrids and EV's. Like once we don't make noise or make gas pollution? What excuse will they use next??!?! I swear nothing pleases HOA's! So we shouldn't back down to them from the start! HOLD THE LINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. SAVE OUR TRACKS!
>build racetrack >car people drive >life good >rich non car people build house close to racetrack >"nOoOo bUt I KnOw tHerS a RaCeTraCc NeXt tO My HoUsE mUch _before_ i WAs HerE bUt iT nOiSy BWAAAAAAHHH" >close racetrack >car people dont have where to drive >car people drive on road >"nOoO U sHouLd TAke u'R sTinKy cAr tO Track UOOOOOOOOOHH" >"car people bad" >life bad
I went to a track once, it was 3-4 hrs of driving there and back, I think I was there for 4-6 hours. All for not even half a minute of seat time, I only got to do 2 runs, both of which I bodged horribly. People who say take it to the track don't have a fucking clue how difficult it actually is to do that under the BEST circumstances. Don't even get me started on building a car to regulations to get on a track with actual corners. And then you still have to get a racing license for wheel to wheel. They act like it's golf where we can throw a set of clubs in the trunk drive 30m to a course, walk in, pay, have our fun and leave. Then on top of everything they're shutting down what few tracks we have/have left to begin with.
Same shit for gun ranges too; a gun range near me had to shut down and open up a new one because the neighborhood decided to be built right next to it. It’s an open range and I don’t understand how people didn’t expect noise lol.
I worked at a horse farm one time and I was told that once the neighbors started firing off guns in their backyard for whatever reason while the barn owner was out riding and the horse threw her off so when she complained they got all upset over it and I think they tried to fight her too which was so dumb and it’s not like the farm wasn’t visible too it was literally like 50 yards from where they were shooting
Because people are braindead and entitled enough to not care about stepping on everyone else. It's an education problem because we teach our kids to make themselves respected but they're not made to understand how respect should be mutual.
This crap sounds like a NFS story/plot. Rich douchebags complain about the noises from a nearby race track and offers the owner a crap ton of money to shut it down, which works flawlessly. And you wanna know where us track-goers turn to next? STREET RACING! Those cops are gonna be so pissed
NFS Unbound would have been far more interesting if the characters were actual legit amateur racers who are now causing trouble in the city because the authorities shut down their local racetrack. All the B-plot involving the mayor and the cops and the garage becoming famous would make much more sense... as would the Countach sitting as an unfinished project.
especially considering that a lot of these suburban neighborhoods are built pretty much like a racetrack with intersections. it's not a good idea to use any public road as a racetrack, but it's far safer to do so these rich burbs and piss of the racist agoraphobes than to do so in the city and actually risk the lives of kids walking to and from school
I would like to still see golf courses tbh. That being said, I am sure that the sport can be made far more environmentally friendly. Alterntaively, a golf cart trackday would be seriously awesome.
This crap also happens with airports. Airports will be built away from residential areas, people build houses near airports, and then people complain about how loud airports are.
@@moussamiller4812While that is true, they still end up forcing special procedures for takeoffs and landings. Often times, they'll have noise abatement takeoff procedures where the aircraft holds the brakes and maximum thrust until the engines have spooled up, then release the brakes and then have to takeoff extremely steep, sometimes so steep that it's pushing the aircraft to it's limits, and then around 1,000 feet, they have to level out and reduce engine power and quietly leave the area before being able to climb like normal. The most extreme of these is KSNA in Southern California, which is often regarded as the steepest commercial airport takeoff in the world. I've flown out of there before, it is quite intense.
@@moussamiller4812 It can be. Very easy to stall in this situation. Not to mention, the runway is very short at KSNA (5,700ft) so when landing, you have to land quickly and stop quickly, which often results in harder than usual landings as you do not have time to try and land smoothly.
@@moussamiller4812 tell me about it, I train in and out of Van Nuys and sometimes i fly into KSNA and the takeoff is fucking wild, my plane is near stall the whole way up to 1000ft, there have nearly been a few accidents because of the steep climbout.
@@yung829it's not that they want them to have less fun, they want to force them into their type of fun. They want others to follow them in lockstep, do the same things, have the same hobbies, and not stray out of line. It makes me sick.
Yep, pretty much. Here's how I interpret this. The stupid ones are just plain dumb stupid. The malicious ones are those who listen to the stupids and embolden them. They are the true enemies.
Car guys build racetracks to not harm anyone and not to street race. People build, buy and live in houses near racetracks. People complain about noise (no duh). Racetrack get shut down. Car guys start racing on streets. People complain about street racing. Car guys build racetracks to not harm anyone and not to street race.
A bunch of Yankees moved out to my home town in middle Georgia, closed down the local drag strip because they built houses RIGHT NEXT TO IT. Apparently they didn't question why nobody built houses there with easy highway access, 5 minutes from the town center and so on.
You're missing the point when the track gets shut down and turned into suburbia or condos That increases property value. Usually makes money for housing developers It's all about the money. Also I am someone from the Northeast. We tend to make more money because higher cost of living. And instead of keeping our money up here we can move down South and live like a king for half the price with good weather and money talks more than the locals and yes don't worry about me I'm nuts I want to move even more north rural Vermont
Here in Brazil you can't legally complain about loudness over racetracks if the racetrack is at least 1 year old. Sadly we don't have many race tracks, expecially here in the south.
the best argument for why they can't complain is: "if somebody complains their house was burnt down by a volcano whose fault is it the person who built their house near a volcano or the volcano that has just been sitting there since forever?"
They can argue the volcano is a force of nature but the track has an owner that operates the track knowing the noise and emissions they produce, therefore they can be held accountable.
@@guavaice1 Except the track is usually there first because tracks are built in open, empty areas with lots of land so that people ARENT disrupted by the noise of machines carrying large amounts of horsepower and large, powerful engines. People keep moving closer and building homes and buildings near said tracks and are complaining, however the track owners should NOT be accountable because they built the track in the open land first and therefore the intention to annoy the public with vehicle noise did not exist at any point.
Bro they closed down the track here on Baytown and now my neighborhood is surrounded with the nicest cars I ever seen. It’s sad how I might not see those cars run again, let alone see the track again.
I grew up going to that track with my dad who use to race there since the late 80s lol Instead of carrying on that tradition I’m stuck “roll racing” and chasing better dragy times
In Germany we have a simillar issue with people complaining about Motorcycles. They buy a cheap house close or on popular twisty roads, outside in the middle of nowhere and then start complaining about the noise on sunny days. Dude if you dont like the noise dont move there simple as that. Its not like someone forced them to live there. But I get it, they see the cheap housing prices thats the reason and then everything they dont like has to change to their needs. God I hate such people and I dont even have a motorcycle licence 😂
It’s funny when that’s the last thing you think about when you buy a house I’m not gonna sit around for multiple days to find out if there’s gonna be noise we actually have the right to peace and quiet but it sucks when the police refuse to do anything about it
@@slapshotjack9806 you dont have to sit around for multiple days. Its kind of common sense to expect motorcycles on such roads. Thats like buying a house on a river and complaining about boats.

What's so great about Mid-Ohio in Lexington is that i really is in the middle of nowhere, there's a few houses but that's it. At least one great track can live on in the future
Y'all Ohio MFs are lucky you exist in a 9th plane of reality that is impermeable by anyone who isn't some SCP horror like entity. In all seriousness, the Midwest is the birthplace of Motorsports, not just in the US, but in the entire world. I hope they hold onto those tracks for decades to come...!
I used to go there every year before i moved to California. There was this track called the Saugus Speedway close to where i live now and thats property is being rebuilt. But apparently it hasn't been used since California changed there license plate lol
im in cleveland and the closes strip and track are out in summit and Garrettsville . theres houses out there but nobody really cares because the homes are so damn far apart from one another that the farmers and rednecks dont care .
Same thing happened with lime rock. It's in the middle of nowhere surrounded by miles of woods on all sides the small town around is dependent on the track weekends
I once have this conversation with someone and he said : Well don't like cars and don't race them at all. Problem solve. And i look at his mouth full of cigarette and said something similar. And i got talked about life lesson for 45 min...
@@FemboySprite101 Yeah sry English is my second language 😅. Well to be clearer, someone, someday spoke to me about that : Cars are dangerous and have no right to go fast ever. An MX track was closed down recently because the county decided to build a hospital a big freaking one not to far from the track. The nice old native couple that ran it weren't even told about it until the "Cease operations" notice came. The whole community was pissed. Many of us were wondering why a new hospital was even being built considering the old one is understaffed and underfunded as is. So as of late, the old logging roads have been filled with dirt bikes and ATVs. The logging companies are pissed but, everyone around here hates em already for buying up all the land an requiring $150 passes for entry.
@@saraverlind Those people are hypocrites alongside the ones who keep building houses near race tracks or want car guys to go to race tracks, because us racers get told to take our shit to a track just for that track to get turned into suburbs or a strip mall or any planned development area. At this point this means war even if we're left with the streets as a battleground.
@@TheSilverShadow17 they do this on purpose, because it is cheaper to build their McMansions in places that are considered less than desirable. Kicking these racetracks to the curb increases the property values of their homes

Imagine being so pathetically entitled to go somewhere actively knowing there's a racetrack. And then complaining and crying about the noise and trying to use their status to shut them down, thinking everyone must bend to their will. Meanwhile, they complain about street racing taking up their taxes, and the property value is going down due to the local economy crashing when they eventually win and shut down the biggest part of there economy. @@andrewesau51I am sure there are no houses near Willow Springs, but if usage of that track falls over time, they may demolish the facility like they did with Riverside.
Racetracks hold so much culture and history and for many residents of a town with a racetracks its a sign of local pride. If they took this away you destroy a culture and destroying a culture makes a city, town, or even a state into a hollow and souless society.
Me with my FXDR RN. They closed a dragway near me, so I just had to do my 1/4 mile time on an empty country road instead. I'm mature enough to wait to do that, but I ain't gonna act like lots of ppl will just say, "Ah fuck it" and start speeding through traffic instead.
Hate left lane campers with a passion, they think the PASSING lane is "the fast lane" and that fast exclusively means 5 mi an hour over the limit, like the majority aren't doing 20 over nowadays bc limits haven't changed in half a century but cars have. Which I wish Bladed would do a video on that, maybe draw awareness to all the issues it causes, like massive speed differentials, ie. what actually causes accidents NOT speeding, but the fact that grandpa will do the limit no matter how ridiculous it is or that everyone else is doing 20 over. Or the fact that god forbid you be doing 25 over and get pulled over the ticket is going to destroy you bc you aren't doing 5 over, you're doing 25 over. The best part is, the same assholes on the radio saying "sPeEdInG kIlLs" are the same ones profiteering off of not changing the limits(Which would in fact makes things safer, bc of aforementioned speed differentials being the real issue) to follow THEIR OWN GUIDELINES on setting limits, which is an 80% rule, bc 80% of us 99% of the time just want to drive at the maximum reasonably safe speed, almost like we want to get where were going in a timely fashion, while not having an accident. Crazy.
This issue happened with DFW Airport near where I live. Build an airport in the middle of nowhere, people build a city around it, and complain about jet engine noise after choosing to live next to thunderous turbofans paradise. We should move for a legislative movement to protect racetracks and promote them since otherwise there are safety issues as well as give tracks "We were here first!" rules. I am doing a youth and government bill on that next year.
Time to see if there is any houses near MY local track. Go to an HOA meeting in my LOUD ASS MUSTANG and be the guy everyone in the HOA hates. Throwing car meets and house parties every weekend.
That might be detrimental to your cause, though. Try adopting Bladed Angel's method of making their argument backfire: show up in the Mustang quietly, and point out how they didn't hear it all this time. If that doesn't work, proceed with the original plan, but set the venue much closer to the complainers.
10:35 i feel like there’s something to be said about the boomers that keep sprawling out where we otherwise didn’t intend them to. Suburban sprawl is a huge problem in the states not only for racetracks and car enthusiasts but it’s also challenging the “Land of the free” argument because if you can’t walk or bike on the land you have the right to use, it ain’t really free. And suburbs are only cementing that fact even more with how we end up with poor land use decisions that will eventually take over all the race tracks and all we will be left with is huge 8 lane roads where hell be damned if you want to walk or bike to work or the grocery store or in this case drive your car on the racetrack without it being overrun by an HOA picket fence neighborhood with overpriced houses.
Even karting tracks are not safe from this problem. One of my local tracks is on the verge of being shut down because of the possible sale of land that the track inhabits. I’m with you, I believe that we need to save tracks as best as we can. Because I’d rather not have a day where we have to have public streets are our only option to express our need for speed.
One Kart Track near me shut down due to COVID lock downs. Now it's just another commercial office building, like all the other commercial buildings surrounding the track in the past.
Not really a car guy, but I am a gun guy. The constant comparisons to prohibition, why prohibition doesn't work, and why prohibition will never work that you make in this video? I fucking feel it man.
At this point, I'm sure you can put a race track in the middle of the desert and someone will get the bright idea that the land around it would be a great spot for a suburb.
One other big reason why tracks (especially small ovals) are closing are shutting down is because of greedy real estate developers. They see the track as a juicy piece of land to put an industrial park or apartment on it
Reminds me of gun range and military training ground complains, thing is, if its gov owned, they telll home owners to suck it or move away (ofcourse, in plesent way, like reminding "You bought home close to training ground/shooting range, you knew before hand what you signing up for"). Yet if they are private ones... Its very common for them to be closed. In Poland a brand new shooting range was closed before openning as home owners decided against it (suddenly) when it was week away from being finished.
This is how I look at it if you want to build a neighborhood next to a race track have people sign a sheet of paper, saying I acknowledge that I move next to a race track. There is nothing I can do. I cannot complain and have them all sign it.
Airports face a similar issue. Especially small airports for private aircraft. An airport near where I live has been facing shutdown for years due to “aircraft noise” complaints by homeowners. But guess who was there first? You’re telling me a naturally noisy area like an airport/racetrack might ACTUALLY be noisy? Go figure
I live in Belgium where we have very little tracks because of how small it is, we have 3 regular tracks, 3 rallycross tracks of which 1 is just another layout of a regular track, a few non permanent street tracks, 1 small oval and 5 motocross tracks. We're now halfway through February and 2 of the 5 motocross tracks have had their licenses revoked and they're trying to shut down one of the rallycross tracks too. Funnily enough 1 of the groups that got the first motocross track shut down came out and said it wasn't their intention and are now helping to reopen it although with more strict regulations. Back in the 90s there were over 100 motocross tracks in the country so over 90% have already closed throughout the years, I know 1 rallycross track that was very popular in the 80s shut down and is now being used by a driving school and occasionally to train first responders
ofc the damn boring ahh evs and the middle aged moms ruining the fun for everyone in the car community we, as car enthusiats, need to rise up and forgot, dont listen to those old hags, like thet say "kids these days are on ipads" while ruining the fun outside

@@X2011racer I don't think there is super exciting and exclusive tech in Formula E. In Formula 1 you had a lot of innovations over time regarding the powertrain, making it more efficient, hybridization and so on. In Formula E it is pretty much a higher density battery, more powerful and lighter motors, higher charging/discharging rates... basically a few iterations ahead of the tech that you can buy already, so nothing dramatic like, I don't know, charging batteries from exhaust gases.
6:55 golf courses in particular are a hilariously bad example because, they may be nice and green, but manicured lawns are a net source of carbon dioxide, and a significant one at that. pesticides also can be just as if not more destructive than the tire dust and motor oil that runs off of racetracks
If the issue was more like the F1 Miami GP where they literally build up a circuit in the middle of the city, then i could understand the complaints....... But NOOOOO, they just had to move close to an ACTUAL CIRCUIT and expected to us car enthusiasts to just lower the volume of our cars just like their 420" Smart TV with almost alien technology that they use to watch the news 🤕
I love cars and am a commercial driver. We’re heavily regulated and get hate as well. As a car enthusiast we need dedicated lawyers who deal with public and commercial vehicles to fight back. We should black mail these places and leave bad reviews. The day we all come together will be the day law enforcement and karens will think twice before judging us or we can do what you suggested lol (which i heard while typing this)
Cities should become more pedestrian and people oriented, and nkt car oriented. Car guys will benefit from it too as less 40yo moms that hate driving will be on the road, and racetracks would make more sense as an outlet or sport, as you don't want more cars in the city
They also need to be accessible and have enough variety to fit the desires of every enthusiast. I do not want to take my WRX to an oval track or drag strip. I want to take it to a winding mountain road where I can experience it's immense level of grip. But I can't afford to go if I will have my insurance policy dropped over even *mentioning* this to them in an effort to be as transparent as possible, nor can I justify the trip if it is several hours away. But if people needed less cars, then that would free up land where new tracks can be developed. The problem is though, I suspect that if public transport got to the level where it's the 'defualt', then suburbia would expand to the point where outside of city limits it would either be vast farms or cookie cutter neighborhoods.
The problem with this is the fact that as long as there’s money to be made then it’ll go through if anyone is smart enough to know that car culture is dying out in America anyway because it’s a hobby and not something you can exactly make money off so politicians don’t care and just want to force all auto makers to have their entire lineups electric in the next 6 years which isn’t going to happen because of how dam expensive they are and 6 years is a short deadline to meet to redesign your entire lineup
You have to be kidding. These snobby 80 year old country club people can barely hear their friend in a conversation, is a race track that you can’t even hear is going to be that much of a problem? I wish people would stop abusing the power to put your house or country clubs next to a race track and suing them doesn’t fix anything.
That's like a school that wants to build within a set distance of a "gentleman's" club that's been there for DECADES and ask them to shutdown because they don't want their kids seeing what goes on
Another issue imo is these private tracks such as The Motor Enclave in Tampa, so many people in the Tampa Bay area love cars, and while we have Bradenton Motorsports Park and The Freedom Factory, itd be nice to have a road course other than Sebring (almost three hours away) to go to. We have a major issue with street takeover guys now, since nobody has an outlet. Also, with those private places, it costs at minimum, $1,000,000 to buy a property or use their cars for $2,000 for two hours on track. It sucks for the community worse than not having it, you shouldn't have a massive paywall to drive a car at your limits.
This problem is several times worse for rc car hobbyists. it would seem like you could just take them just about anywhere, but thats not really the case, as, depending on where you live, a lot of places that seem ideal end up being preservation areas, so even if it is legal to drive them off the trail, its probably not the best idea. Since rc cars don’t really contribute to the economy, specialized tracks are few and far between, and are constantly being torn up and replaced with tennis courts. In my opinion, some of the most fun you can have with an rc car is driving it around a skate park. But here’s the thing, most of them are indoors, and either don’t allow rc cars, or are too full to risk driving. And, get this, public parks rarely have skateboard areas, AND the ones the do have them are constantly tearing them down too, so even the skateboarders are getting fucked over, so what are we supposed to do?
I live 2mi from Texas Motor Speedway. I have no problem cause I LOVE racing. I can sit watching TV and hear the high revs in the background, and I love it!
I suggest we protest. Go into these hoa areas that shut down tracks and rev your engines loud and obnoxiously with posters thanking the karens for contributing to this activity. And when the cops show up "it's a peaceful protest. Noone is doing illegal street racing or doing burnouts. Just a few engine revs officer."
Something interesting i learned about the Highway 68 Coalition is that the guy named Mike Weaver behind the organization apparently has a vendetta against Laguna Seca because his brother had a dog who got scared from the loud car noises from the track and ran out into the streets as the cars were leaving and both he and his dog ended up getting ran over.
a lot of times the HOA's do this cause they want to get the land of the race track for cheap to expand into that are. Its a lot of cheap land especially if the race track goes bankrupt due to lawsuits
i have been forcing my self lately, to quit being a car enthusiast. we are constantly being berated and etc.. i sold my amg, gti and passat r32. i am forcing my self to quit thinking about them. it`s really hard. i am 22 and i have been crying over that fact. even went as far as deleting and refunding racing games. i hate my life now. anyway. if you still are an enthusiast. i respect you. but i`ve quit.
that's gotta be the dumbest shit ever man. Instead of forcing yourself to be a normie, help your fellow enthusiasts out! At the very least, you'll make friends, and you will stop trying to deny part of who you are.
Dude, that sucks. I’m so sorry to hear shit’s gotten to you that way. I hope one day you come back (or perhaps find a hobby that’s more accepting). If you want my two cents, watch collecting isn’t a bad alternative, given that cars and watches tend to go hand-in-hand. No matter where the future takes you tho, I truly do wish you the best
not sure where you live or who's nagging you but that's not right. Everyone has a right to enjoy their hobbies. If these people have any sort of hobby or sport and try to convince you to join, I would basically tell them to eat shit
Oh wow. I didn’t know about this.. That’s unfortunate. I always wondered how that dynamic would go btwn the track and the ppl who live close but I’ve also noticed none of the tracks I’ve been to are near much of anything. They’re usually in the middle of rural areas surrounded by corn fields and farm land. It’s interesting to know now that the track was likely there prior to the residents and businesses so they really don’t have a good foundation for their complaints.
So glad you covered this topic. All that closing tracks does for me is make me want to find the loudest, most powerful, most pollutive car I can find and go annoy the hell out of the people who had it closed.
I live 15 minutes from Greenville-Pickens speedway in SC and that track hadn't operated the past few years because developers want the land for housing but some of the racers bought the track to keep it from being torn down but the developers keep throwing court cases at them and keep things tied up in court so the track can't be used.
It's the things like this that are slowly killing the car community as we now it, first electric cars, now literally all muscle cars either dying or going electric, now racetracks closing down :(
I don't really mind ev's but just they giving us no freedom of choice old cars don't really easily get fixed legally in the future with new bs laws introduced like you cannot weld that you cannot fix that and everything gettin' real unaffordable
I mean, Hyundai and Caterham prove that EVs don’t necessarily mean the end of the car community. They just mean the end of an era for the car community. It can still survive and thrive in other ways, and hopefully as more enthusiast-oriented EVs are built, enthusiasts start to notice that. But racetracks shutting down is sad. That much I will agree with
@Phendranaguardian yeah, that sucks alot Firstly here it is illegal to weld a subframe. And a ton of dumb laws incoming for car repairs which drive people to black market repairs Which is ridiculous concidering car repairs instead of buying a new taxxed to the hell and beyond new car is environmentally a pretty ok decision Also for importing cars sadly like some countries and states already have which makes moving nice cars to other countries a hassle It is a big business importing cars from germany to here, they are not so much used and they’ve got models or trim levels we ain’t got or got so little of due to recession and in past we only got mostly basemodels Only redeemable part about future is those third party spare parts getting more and more common for enthusiast models so we don’t have to tear apart another car And more intresting EV models that are not just another crossover or SUV I kinda like the EV Charger’s looks despite it kinda sounding like an vaccuum cleaner And the new Prelude deserves a mention too
@@youraveragejdmenthusiast430 I should mention about the EV Charger: given that Dodge is very in touch with what the enthusiasts want, I’ve got the feeling that it’s gonna be like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Caterham EV where it’s gonna be one of the few EVs that’s fun to drive

I live in southern Utah, and around Saint George, there was a much more celebrated car culture than there is today. They used to have a runway up on top of this plateau overlooking the city, and they used it often for drag racing. It used to be more of a retirement community way back when, so there were all manner of nice old cars that loved to show off there. They even had a boulevard take over event each year. It was great. But then Saint George became one of the fastest growing cities in America. Now there’s nonstop reckless driving from all walks of life everywhere you go. Lots of rich people with nice cars or motorcycles act stupid wherever you go. I wish they had a track or local strip still for them. The closest place is vegas, but that’s four hours round trip of just driving to go do it from Saint George. The only thing you can get today is the occasional 4 hour car show, where nothing of note really happens
The real question is why would they even build homes next to a race track then complain to the point where they gotta shut them down, next they're gonna shutdown airstrips and train stations because they're too loud 😂
It's so much better than some dumbass parking lot car meet. I have seen some genuinely cool and "real" builds. Havent made lifelong friends there yet but still. It's worth it 100%
I actually am feeling sad deep down in my heart, these race tracks are what created our love towards cars and their culture some rich people really think weird
I appreciate the mentality that you treat investors and businessmen with decency to assume there is no deliberate lack of consideration for the racetracks. I'm far more sure that the country clubs and developers know that the general public will not do their due diligent research and know the race track is there, and eventually they can force the race track to shut down and hijack the area. The general public already see us as horrible people and want modified cars to disappear and tell us to "find other hobbies", when most of them have no understanding of real passion for anything. They have no idea what it is to lose a passion, nor do they care.
Lowkey i would like to see some of these communities deal with street racing as a protest against shutting the track down. If you allow for compromise, many young people would greatly benefit from having a local track to safely push their limits and have fun. If you want to stop street racing, then make it easier for people to drive their cars fast in a safe environment. I would love to go to NFS ProStreet style race weekends where people can race against eachother with whatever car they got in the garage. And quite frankly, sim racing doesn't scratch that itch for me anymore.
@@Tornado2409 I can appreciate it as a tool to get used to driving maneuvers and training but the g forces, body roll, pitch, yaw, and the general fact that what's happening is real and not simulated makes actual racing so much more sweet. After having played racing games for years because I was too young to have my license, and now having my license... I don't ever want to go back.
Same happened here in Brazil, they’re trying to close the Kart track (also used to host car meets) bcz of noise, and there’s about 1000 METERS difference in height, I enjoy hearing the sounds and can’t go to them bcz my parents say it’s dangerous bcz people have alcohol there, and they say only when I turn 14 I can go there
It can be the same way with railroads. People move in near railroad crossings where trains sound their whistles/horns to alert people they're coming, and then complain about the noise. Then they petition the local council to make the crossing a "quiet zone", council agrees and forbids the railroad from doing blowing the whistles/horns, leading to an increase and highly likely potential of people getting hit by trains which are much quieter today than they used to be. Many survivors often said that they didn't hear the train coming.
The military moved me up to New Jersey and I was excited to visit two of the most iconic drag strips in the country, only to find out that both ATCO and Englishtown were both closed.
This same crap is happening here in Portugal to the Estoril track, it's been there for decades and now locals are complaining about noise, while the circuit was there first.
Where I live some rich beach house owners got the local government to put something on the window of the lighthouse (on the land-facing side). The actual people who lives there then complained and the government realising they had a point whent back on their decision and said: “if you dont like it go live somewhere else”.
What was there first should get priority, and recently as a student pilot I’ve learned it’s the same thing with airports as well. Some runways have different traffic patterns specifically so that planes don’t fly over neighborhoods and get complaints. It’s like dude, you moved next to an airport, don’t be surprised when you hear airplanes landing everyday. Honestly I’d love to move next to my airport one day, cause it’s also like 5-10 minutes away from Texas Motor Speedway.
Great video, man. I agree with all of the fundamental points. I am hopeful that we can continue the push to keep tracks and combustion motore, but videos like these sure do help!
The same thing happens to airports and the airline always wins because they were here first and not all these house. I for one would love to live near a racetrack and watch cars race from my window or back porch. This whole thing is pretty much karens trying to take away our fun and enjoyment in life. If they can't be happy then they just have to try and ruin it for everyone else
In South Africa there was a dispute about Killarney Raceway. There was the usual complaints of noise but the track won the case because the court ruled it was built there long before development of the area started and people moved there knowing what living near a racetrack entails.
This happened at Imola circuit in Italy also, it has almost been closed a few years ago for noise complaints of a bunch of people that had just build an house close to it. Right now only F1 and major events can be hosted but it is never open to free laps of normal people
Palm Beach International Raceway closed down a couple of years ago because they wanted to turn it into a shopping center or some other bullshit reason. Never mind the fact that Pratt & Whitney is literally across the street building/testing jet engines louder than your grandma on her wedding night.
Just a little something to add and maybe help with the algorithm: I know of an old drag strip here in my town (apparently founded in the 70's) that was closed in the early 90's to be turned into a bus parking lot at a bus station. You can still see the dark marks where the old gassers and pro-streeters used to do burnouts before each run. A friend of my friend's father even still has an old first generation VW Gol that he turned into a front-wheel drive dragster... I don't know the whole story, I only found out about it recently... it's so weird to think that my town has already had some form of motorsport at some point in its history...
car people:*build racetrack in the middle of nowhere, so nobody complains*
people:*move in close and conplain*
Dubious land developers and realtors from the cities duping gullible NIMBYs are the main culprits in that.
Car guys and public transit advocates need to partner up against this problem.
@@agentzapdos4960 I do wonder how many public transit advocates would want to ban cars versus simply making transportation less car-centric.

The only thing is that airports have a lower of being shut down since people actually understand the purpose of an airport
@@moussamiller4812While that is true, they still end up forcing special procedures for takeoffs and landings. Often times, they'll have noise abatement takeoff procedures where the aircraft holds the brakes and maximum thrust until the engines have spooled up, then release the brakes and then have to takeoff extremely steep, sometimes so steep that it's pushing the aircraft to it's limits, and then around 1,000 feet, they have to level out and reduce engine power and quietly leave the area before being able to climb like normal. the best argument for why they can't complain is: "if somebody complains their house was burnt down by a volcano whose fault is it the person who built their house near a volcano or the volcano that has just been sitting there since forever?"
They can argue the volcano is a force of nature but the track has an owner that operates the track knowing the noise and emissions they produce, therefore they can be held accountable.

Go figure
It’s like common sense gets left behind when idiot by houses near these places.
Hmm maybe everyone will have to keep racing at this big track called mexico I hear a lot about it
IKR, Mexico popping off real good. I hear you can make a portal to Mexico anywhere a street race starts now.
Wtf Forza Horizon 5 irl??? No way!
Back in the 90s there were over 100 motocross tracks in the country so over 90% have already closed throughout the years, I know 1 rallycross track that was very popular in the 80s shut down and is now being used by a driving school and occasionally to train first responders
ofc the damn boring ahh evs and the middle aged moms ruining the fun for everyone in the car community
we, as car enthusiats, need to rise up
and forgot, dont listen to those old hags, like thet say "kids these days are on ipads" while ruining the fun outside
RiSE uP gAMERs
oh wait
they literally try to ruin everything. Its because both these people are leeches and they cant stand to see young people having fun and doing something else besides working and paying taxes to finance their leech ass
I just want EVs to implement Formula E technology... we already have ICE cars using F1 tech, such as the AMG One and the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
What does EVs have to do with anything in this clip?
@@X2011racer I don't think there is super exciting and exclusive tech in Formula E.
In Formula 1 you had a lot of innovations over time regarding the powertrain, making it more efficient, hybridization and so on.
In Formula E it is pretty much a higher density battery, more powerful and lighter motors, higher charging/discharging rates... basically a few iterations ahead of the tech that you can buy already, so nothing dramatic like, I don't know, charging batteries from exhaust gases.
6:55 golf courses in particular are a hilariously bad example because, they may be nice and green, but manicured lawns are a net source of carbon dioxide, and a significant one at that. pesticides also can be just as if not more destructive than the tire dust and motor oil that runs off of racetracks
they're making the only way to have fun is to sit at home and play video games all day
Right? And then they proceed to complain, "whY dON'T yOU aLL GeT oFF uR DaMN PhoNES!"
Lol exactly these older generations want the younger generations to have no fun. They swear they had it harder 😂
Not like video games are good nowadays
It’s mostly shit
You know, there's other outdoor hobbies that are cheaper. Try hiking or mountain to not like cars and bikes are the only thing
And then they complain that no one wants to go outside anymore. I cannot fathom the mental gymnastics, they must be olympic gold medallists
That's like a school that wants to build within a set distance of a "gentleman's" club that's been there for DECADES and ask them to shutdown because they don't want their kids seeing what goes on
prohibition led to hot-rodding not really what we would call "tuner culture" but i get your point 100%
Driving in your neighborhood - Take it to the track!
Driving on the track - too loud, take away the track!
3 months later, cant you assholes take it to a racetrack-HOA leach
"My foot slipped off of the clutch pedal!"
"I'm not buying that."
- Jeremy Clarkson and an American police officer
Something interesting i learned about the Highway 68 Coalition is that the guy named Mike Weaver behind the organization apparently has a vendetta against Laguna Seca because his brother had a dog who got scared from the loud car noises from the track and ran out into the streets as the cars were leaving and both he and his dog ended up getting ran over.
Oh so closing down Laguna Seca is a personal issue?🤨 What a miserable dude
@@alexcuevas5633 He was honestly just looking for something or someone to blame.
a lot of times the HOA's do this cause they want to get the land of the race track for cheap to expand into that are.
That's depressing as fuck
Dude, that sucks. I’m so sorry to hear shit’s gotten to you that way. I hope one day you come back (or perhaps find a hobby that’s more accepting). If you want my two cents, watch collecting isn’t a bad alternative, given that cars and watches tend to go hand-in-hand. No matter where the future takes you tho, I truly do wish you the best
not sure where you live or who's nagging you but that's not right. Everyone has a right to enjoy their hobbies. If these people have any sort of hobby or sport and try to convince you to join, I would basically tell them to eat shit
Hope you find a good hobby since you lost your passion. I prevent myself from getting too much into cars for the same reason
When they shut down the drag strip in Baytown right outside of Houston killed me now I have to drive an extra 2-3 hours just go to a TX2K in Dallas 🙄
I'm starting to notice the trend that some non-car people just hate car people and don't want them to have fun
So glad you covered this topic. All that closing tracks does for me is make me want to find the loudest, most powerful, most pollutive car I can find and go annoy the hell out of the people who had it closed.
I live 15 minutes from Greenville-Pickens speedway in SC and that track hadn't operated the past few years because developers want the land for housing but some of the racers bought the track to keep it from being torn down but the developers keep throwing court cases at them and keep things tied up in court so the track can't be used.
i’m glad you’re speaking out about this bullshit, more people need to
It's the things like this that are slowly killing the car community as we now it, first electric cars, now literally all muscle cars either dying or going electric, now racetracks closing down :(
Its a sad era for car enthusiasts 😢
I don't really mind ev's but just they giving us no freedom of choice
old cars don't really easily get fixed legally in the future with new bs laws introduced
like you cannot weld that you cannot fix that
and everything gettin' real unaffordable
I mean, Hyundai and Caterham prove that EVs don’t necessarily mean the end of the car community. They just mean the end of an era for the car community. It can still survive and thrive in other ways, and hopefully as more enthusiast-oriented EVs are built, enthusiasts start to notice that. But racetracks shutting down is sad. That much I will agree with
@Phendranaguardian yeah, that sucks alot
Firstly here it is illegal to weld a subframe.
And a ton of dumb laws incoming for car repairs which drive people to black market repairs
Which is ridiculous concidering car repairs instead of buying a new taxxed to the hell and beyond new car is environmentally a pretty ok decision
Also for importing cars sadly like some countries and states already have which makes moving nice cars to other countries a hassle
It is a big business importing cars from germany to here, they are not so much used and they’ve got models or trim levels we ain’t got or got so little of due to recession and in past we only got mostly basemodels
Only redeemable part about future is those third party spare parts getting more and more common for enthusiast models so we don’t have to tear apart another car
And more intresting EV models that are not just another crossover or SUV
I kinda like the EV Charger’s looks despite it kinda sounding like an vaccuum cleaner
And the new Prelude deserves a mention too
@@youraveragejdmenthusiast430 I should mention about the EV Charger: given that Dodge is very in touch with what the enthusiasts want, I’ve got the feeling that it’s gonna be like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Caterham EV where it’s gonna be one of the few EVs that’s fun to drive
1: find a place that's:
a: loud
b: not very rich
2: move in
3: *_complain_* and sue them out of existence
4: complain even more
4: proceed to the next target
Re 7:46 - completely agree that more Formula E tracks would be a good idea.
It’s insanity because top fuel crews and nitro dragsters have $1,000,000 setups and now will have no where to go
The real question is why would they even build homes next to a race track then complain to the point where they gotta shut them down, next they're gonna shutdown airstrips and train stations because they're too loud 😂
Easy, entirely property valuation or cheap land
Man i love racing, i want to go to a race one day. Hopefully there will still be racetracks in the future. Karen's are the bane of race tracks
It's so much better than some dumbass parking lot car meet. I have seen some genuinely cool and "real" builds. Havent made lifelong friends there yet but still. It's worth it 100%
Shoutout to the churches quiet hours, Shush sessions at Road Atlanta are the cheapest and easiest ways to get on the track
Sim racing does get very boring very quickly.
(Unless it's modded Mariokart of course lmao)
@@Tornado2409 I can appreciate it as a tool to get used to driving maneuvers and training but the g forces, body roll, pitch, yaw, and the general fact that what's happening is real and not simulated makes actual racing so much more sweet.
After having played racing games for years because I was too young to have my license, and now having my license... I don't ever want to go back.
Bro the algorithm has not been in your favour havent seen you in a hot minute and now i gotta watch everything ive missed
Same happened here in Brazil, they’re trying to close the Kart track (also used to host car meets) bcz of noise, and there’s about 1000 METERS difference in height, I enjoy hearing the sounds and can’t go to them bcz my parents say it’s dangerous bcz people have alcohol there, and they say only when I turn 14 I can go there
I am glad Watkins Glen has a good heritage, the locals understand what it does for the area, and its on top of a hill, in the middle of nowhere.
people creating their own problems is so hilariously stupid.
Those people are so short sighted.
Another banger favourite UA-camr rn
The military moved me up to New Jersey and I was excited to visit two of the most iconic drag strips in the country, only to find out that both ATCO and Englishtown were both closed.
This same crap is happening here in Portugal to the Estoril track, it's been there for decades and now locals are complaining about noise, while the circuit was there first.
Where I live some rich beach house owners got the local government to put something on the window of the lighthouse (on the land-facing side). The actual people who lives there then complained and the government realising they had a point whent back on their decision and said: “if you dont like it go live somewhere else”.
In belgium with all the farmers protest now the motorsport joined in and we are al protesting togther for farmer right and everything about motorsport
The next Need For Speed game is among us because of this
Great video, man.
What also helps: airports are seen as more utilitarian. Their benefits are very obvious to anyone, even non-aviation enthusiasts.
In South Africa there was a dispute about Killarney Raceway. There was the usual complaints of noise but the track won the case because the court ruled it was built there long before development of the area started and people moved there knowing what living near a racetrack entails.
Don't you just hate it when you buy a piece of land/house and a race track just appears out of nowhere nearby overnight?
I know right, freaking weeds.
No kidding, wake up and find one built would give me a chubby!!!
This happened at Imola circuit in Italy also, it has almost been closed a few years ago for noise complaints of a bunch of people that had just build an house close to it.
Right now only F1 and major events can be hosted but it is never open to free laps of normal people
I hate those lil kids that say “first” 🤷🏾♂️
Lmao
But you still said it and now are first.
Bro hates himself
Those guys should look into karting
Palm Beach International Raceway closed down a couple of years ago because they wanted to turn it into a shopping center or some other bullshit reason.
Never mind the fact that Pratt & Whitney is literally across the street building/testing jet engines louder than your grandma on her wedding night.
Inb4 Car enthusiasts start fighting back by adding turbos to golf karts and drifting around country clubs
Lawnmower racing exists. Why not add a golf cart class?
Just a little something to add and maybe help with the algorithm: I know of an old drag strip here in my town (apparently founded in the 70's) that was closed in the early 90's to be turned into a bus parking lot at a bus station.
You can still see the dark marks where the old gassers and pro-streeters used to do burnouts before each run.
A friend of my friend's father even still has an old first generation VW Gol that he turned into a front-wheel drive dragster...
I don't know the whole story, I only found out about it recently... it's so weird to think that my town has already had some form of motorsport at some point in its history...
