I remember being 14 years old and seeing this video on MTV for the first time. I was in an abusive home but didn't know anything different. The little girl I was felt moved for more. I left homw four years later, with a man who fed me all the same bullshit.... But I survived that town and that man and I'm so, so good right now and have been for years. Thank you for inspiring a little girl to get the hell "out of LA".
I remember hearing this song when I was 13 years old in North Idaho and it changed my life. I moved to L.A. and had my own experience with this town.

You completely changed my life with this song when I heard it back in 1999. I still love it even though I made some bad choices because of it. It has led me to the place I finally am now where I can finally say I am happy. Girl. I wouldn’t be here without this song. A young musician when I first heard you sing this. All I could do was look around me in awe that everyone around me wasn’t dropping everything they had like I was to glue themselves to you. Years and years of abuse and music (sometimes the abuser being my own damn self)...every time I find myself with my back once again starting over, this song gets me through it. This song also taught me to write from those places of self- effacement. Be honest with my listeners to the point where I feel uncomfortable because chances are, they get it. Jesus, mama. Thank you
