Seal's Jaw Caught On Fishing Hook
Вставка

- Fishing hooks cause unbearable pain for any animal caught on them. No matter if it's the intended species or unfortunate bycatch like seals, dolphins, or turtles: if the animal breaks the fishing line, the hook stays with them for a long time.
Compared to other entanglements, we consider hooks as less serious because they mainly cause wounds and infections, and they will eventually rust away. Loops from fishing line or plastic bags take centuries to decompose and have the potential to suffocate or starve the animal.
This particular case brought together the worst of two worlds: a painful hook stuck in a seals jaw, and 100m of plastic fishing line attached to it. Just imagine how many other animals could have gotten stuck in this fishing line, as the hooked seal dragged it along?

What a horrific entanglement. That hook must’ve caused so much distress. Please viewers if you support this channel please donate a dollar to this noble cause.
I helped their cause.
@@alenahawke475Blessings to you.
And/ or minimise the amount of single use plastic you buy.
Ouch! That poor seal! Who knows how many times that line snagged on things and caused even more pain! Not to mention the drag in the water, making it more difficult to hunt and feed. But she was a good patient and stayed calm while you worked to free her. Excellent work! Thanks, team!👏❤️
The patient seems to know that the surgeons are saving his life. Beautiful rescue ❤️
That poor seal! Thank you, OCN!
I know that Antoine said that your videos are primarily meant to educate us. I do appreciate it but I hope you also appreciate that some of us need to watch you do this to restore some of our faith in humanity once in awhile. Whether that was the intent or not, thank you for it.
A lot of humanity is uneducated or mis educated, eg fish dont feel pain. Animals were created for human use ( like we arent also animals ). Sadly a minority catch fish for 'fun'. Hunt animals and birds for 'fun'. Not for food. And an even smaller minority are just plain cruel.
But most of us, even the ignorant, are good people.
Absolutely! Unlike most videos these days, these videos feel so pure and genuine. No stupid AI voice narrating, no dumb music, no chatter, etc. Makes me love these videos for what they are: honest.
And these videos are POSITIVE. You take a negative - innocent wildlife injured by mankind’s insensitivity and thoughtlessness - and bring about a positive - beautiful seals (not so!) gracefully returning to the healing waters of the ocean to enjoy life once more!
I hate the videos sometimes because it makes me realise, how badly we have messed the planet. But I love them as I now have an appreciation of these beautiful creatures that I never had before. And the help that a few humans do for them, for no profit. But their love of it. I am so aware of plastic, loops, anything. And I cut any straps into small pieces. Or preferably, I won't buy anything with them. These chaps are immense. And their videos are educational to the world.
That one was rough! Thank you, OCN, for your intervention!
Since OCN started doing it's thing, Namibian seals have developed superb running skills - their times for 100meters, 200 meters and 500 meter dash have improved remarkably... ;-)
Thanks to Denzil! 🏃🏽
Really hate those hooks, the poor sea pup can't eat and is in so much pain. Thank you for giving her back a pain free life again.❤️🙏🏻👍
It couldn't be done any better. These men are cautious and caring with the poor seal, their experience shows. Thank you, team OCN.
They have spent so long honing their skills and equipment. Such amazing dedication
Surely the most painful kind of rescue you deal with. Well done!
Hook is never a good thing. Plenty of delicate work for our brave rescuers. Tring to do as little damage as possible in the removal.
I don't even want to _try_ to imagine the pain that poor critter was going through. Now he'll hurt like hell for a while, but can at least recover and lead a normal life, thanks to the OCN crew!
Hi all!
This little seal was carrying such a load and a long fishing line that could have killed many more seals. When they opened the net, these seal eyes, full of suffering, and this huge hook that got stuck in its mouth - it was terrible.
Thank you guys, and not only for this seal.

This is so very sad, I am sorry seal for what we have done to you in your home. Thank you OCN, this one was special.
Thank you for saving him.❤
Thank you my heroes for saving him ❤️ greetings to all 😊🙋🏼
As terrible as that was the sense of accomplishment must be amazing. Well done, guys.
A very patient seal ,it must have been so painful but he must have sensed that you were all there to help.
Now that was horrible! The seal handled it well though. With that much line trailing behind, others could have easily got caught up in it causing a massive problem. Thankfully the team saw, knew what to do and saved this one, and many other lives!
That was horrible! So glad you could help this poor seal, and potentially many others!❤
That poor baby. Thanks for helping.
It looked like the barb was partially closed and it still took a lot to remove. Excellent work, guys.
The pain must have been excruciating for the seal, both before and during the rescue. I felt for OCN, too, being faced with that, knowing that they have to inflict more pain on the animal in order to help. It must be so upsetting.
They have so much strength to be able to withstand that pain of the hook in their mouth.
💗💗 Thank You OCN 💗💗
So correct! You saved more than you know! Good job!!❤
This rescue had me on the edge of my seat! PHEW! Great job! 🦭 💕
Horrible entanglement and big hook. Very long line :(. Thank you, men you saved a seal and multiple another at the same time ❤.
Thanks ONC for giving this seal a chance to heal and run free from this Hook !
Сколько тюленей вы спасли, дали им безболезненную спокойную жизнь. Низкий поклон вам ребята. Россия Москва.
It was like the seal immediately understood you were there to help and kept perfectly calm during the painful procedure, incredible
What a mess! Good save guys, thanks.
The seals are telling each other how you're trying to help them! I'm so impressed at your dedication and it helps restore my faith in humanity. Thank you.
The seals seem to be allowing you to do a lot, it’s because you all understand them so well now. Thank you so much for helping.
That seal didn’t fuss at all and understood you all were only helping him… I just looked at the length of line Naude kept pulling, incredible the seal wasn’t more tangled… Thank you OCN… yet again, a life saved. ❤
Oh! That one was sooo bad! 😬
Thank you for giving it a chance and for removing all that line before it entangles other seals ♥️
Another lucky seal. Thanks, team, for all the work you do!
Gut, dass ihr so einen Notfallkoffer da habt.
Brilliant teamwork and use of new tools.
Dziękujemy❤🇵🇱👍
Awe poor wee soul.I hold my breath on these rescues but the seal was such a good patient.Thank you so much for saving him/her, great team work ❤❤❤
What a wonderful wonderful seal, lying there wondering what fate awaits him, he must have been so relieved to be free from the horrible hook, the team did well. Thankyou OCN
a lot of gratitude from everybody watching these videos for you guys helping the seals recover from getting tangled in pollution from fishing boats, it's amazing work you do
And we can do our part by minimising buying more single use plastic.
Gracias infinitas por au labor❤
I often wonder if the seals understand that you guys are helping them and this one was so patient and calm that he clearly understood what was happening. Have to admit to shedding a tear for this rescue. Thanks for all you do ♥
Thank you for saving the seal. He must have suffered for some time. You guys are gorgeous.
Those seal eyes looking up at you gets me in my heart. That was painful but I feel the seal knew you were helping him get that hook out. Thank you for saving him. Your videos are fantastic.💙🦭🌊🪝
The hook looked massive. I am so grateful this team is out there to rescue. Thank you for all you do! ❤️
Another fine job!
What a tough go! Thanks you guys😊
The hook ones always blow my mind because you’re doing what would in other circumstances be done in a high-tech operating room and under anaesthesia instead crouching on a deserted beach with basic tools.
The tools for big things are much the same in operating rooms (I worked in an operating suite in a childrens' hospital). The smaller the work, the more high tech equipment is used. It's the before care, anaesthetic and after care, and time available that makes the difference. These beach operatiions need to be fast. The seals have salt water for excellent healing, at least. These guys had no training, and had figure all this out themselves. I only had to chase some little patients around a ward. These guys are dealing with slippery patients with sharp teeth and strong jaws on a shoreline!
Whew, take a deep breath guys! That was intense. Thankfully the seal knew you were trying to help and stayed calm. Thanks for spotting and rescuing the seal from its entanglement.❤
Excellent job on a difficult and complicated rescue, Team OCN. Thank you so much for saving his life.
poor dear, every bite of food must have been agony
Excellent operation. Great camera work.❤
what a patient understanding seal!
Still watching. Still amazed. Still grateful.
That poor little seal. This was a hard one to watch, but the teamwork is superb. Definitely got my heart rate up. Thank you for all that you do.
Good job guys!
Thank you for helping so many seals and other animals!
🦭🌊💙 Thank you OCN!
Wow, what a terrible entanglement. That seal is so lucky to have you guys taking the time to get that hook out. I thank you on behalf of all the seals that you probably saved by removing that hook and line.
Yes, you saved others when you rescued this one. So well done.
I dread to think what these poor little guys have to swim through? It must be just a soup of plastic! It really is unforgivable!!! Thank you for helping these wonderful, innocent animals XXXXXXX
This is horrific, made even more so because you said "the smell" which means it's infected, poor, poor thing. I cried the entire time as this old lady isn't so tough anymore. Thank you Thank you Thank you ...
That was so sad and horrific! You guys are incredible!!!! 💖
These heroes are surgeons…!
How horrifying. Thank you, OCN angels, for helping her. ❤
So glad y’all found that Seal and helped free him.
I felt so sorry for the seal, but I think he understood as he was so calm. Thank you OCN for definitely saving his life. 🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊
That was so horrible! Thank goodness you were able to remove it. He can now go to live his life! Thank you OCN.
Thank you , you wonderful human beings
Great job fellas. I did find myself holding my jaw as you pulled it out. Well done I bet that was satisfying.
Thank you OCN! It's amazing how patient and calm she was despite her pain. She truly trusted that you were there to help her.❤❤❤
Such a relief! Palpable.
Thank you for your hard work to save seals' lives.
Ouch. Haven't seen a hook surgery for quite a while. This guy is definitely up for patient of the year award
That was sooo much line for that poor thing to tug on the hook constantly. Hope it heals quickly and can eat now!! Thank you team OCN 😊
That was hard to watch let alone to perform! Fantastic result with such dedication.
🎉🎉🎉🎉como dijeron salvaron la vida de muchos, saludos desde argentina rosario
Ouch! that made me cringe in pain, what a trooper for being able to stay calm despite the pain.
Thank You for all you do.
👍
You are angels. Thank you for dealing with such horrible situations. You are these animals only hope in many cases. God bless you all!
Our efforts are just a drop in the bucket compared to the millions of tonnes of trash entering the world's oceans every year.
We are unfortunately not solving the problem, but only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. These videos aim to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.
When the seal came into view, my very US southern husband said, "oh honey! Let them help you!" 🤭 (sometimes he sounds just like his grandmother♥️)
Oh he is so good
ho my god!!! I haven't words... it's terrific!!!! respect to you!!!!
Oh my gosh poor thing. Thank God for you guys.
She was so calm and patient, even during the toughest bit. Thank you Naude, Antoine and Denzil for ending the torture she must have endured for who knows how long.
Great work.
What you guys do is priceless!!

The patience and skill on display in every video is incredible. Cheers Team OCN. ❤❤❤
Thank you for helping him 👍🏼❤️❤️❤️
Poor thing, hunting and eating, if possible at all, must have been pure agony for this seal. Thanks guys, for the successful operation, hopefully she'll heal quickly!🙏💕🦭
poor seal didn't have any choice on how to get that hook removed, but it was removed quickly. the seal will be in some pain for awhile, but now the seal can start healing , and soon recover. the seal did know what was going on, and was a very cooperative patient. get all better real soon. thank you for that great rescue. you guys were great👍👍
Today was one the best days I have had in a long time, then to see what you did today makes it even more special thank you and God to my special day❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
