Hi Stan work for a highway department. Black ice is more than exhaust. Moisture in the air down to freeze point snow and slush melt ect. If there is freezing rain you need to put down rock salt. There are tables that can be found online that can help with rates.
Alex is a good dude! Saw your plow trucks for sale on market place, sent him a message about his latest thoughts on snowdogg plow. He responded quickly with his honest opinion. Give Alex an atta-boy for me.
The Honda engine has gas in the oil because the needle and seat in the carburetor leaked by. You need to shut the fuel off when your done with the engine even after you get the carburetor repaired. I guarantee that unit was pulled of the truck put in a corner and forgotten about until it's time to use it again this winter. No one drained the gas or did any prep for storage. Seen it a million times wasting time and money fixing something that could have been prevented by proper procedures. Add that to your instructions on being in business Stan. Time is money. Ah, well. I'm no shop foreman anymore, I'm retired so do your best.
This provides for a smoother “empty truck” ride and firms it up when needed. I set my trucks up with an onboard compressor giving them adjustability on the fly. Also, inflate each side independently for stability.
The most important feature is that you can pretreat before the storm. This allows you extra time to get on site and minimizes ice build up from people driving on it.
According to most road maintenance guidelines, you should not apply brine to a street when the pavement temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit as it becomes significantly less effective at melting ice below that point; some sources may specify a slightly higher or lower threshold depending on local conditions.
Sounds like you went on private property without permission and damaged something on there property. Which happens unfortunately with the inflation today( remember buying dinner for 5 at McDonalds for 15bucks max. Now it’s 70 bucks) Easy win/money for that homeowner. Keep up the good work. God bless
A friend of mine just about got to go visit the other side the other day, thanks to black ice on a bridge and the nose of a semi. Thankfully he managed to just get out of the way in time. The brine makes more sense for us more southern guys that get way more ice than big snow events, too bad my company just bought new salters or I'd suggest it 😅
From Minnesotan to another you got a new subscriber and even though it's not specific I love the channel I seen the one about the encampments and as a Black American who grew up over North Minneapolis and just in the twin cities in general in a very distant past lived on the other side of the fence not homeless but my 6 older children was raised in little Earth and in that general area I now live in Hinckley on a reservation with my wife and younger kids but my mom lives in St Paul with some of my older children and my grandchildren where I frequently visit but ever since the George Floyd shenanigans nothing has been the same and indeed Tim waltz is destroying our city and has been for a long time I just don't see how anyone can't see that I'm still debate with my mother not too long ago about politics something I don't really pick a side I think it's the same winged creature personally in my opinion but in this case it's definitely a lesser of two evils seeing that the left damn near almost destroyed the world in the last 4 years and I'm glad that we're at least going to be spared being a third world country for another 4 years at least (because I don't personally think we would ever be invaded we're doing a damn good job destroying our own country from within but some of us who actually see things for what they really are and just the true American civilian in general is probably the most dangerous thing on this planet when it comes to protecting ours and I think they know that that's why they would prefer a long-range nuclear weapon or an EMP) but as far as my mother but she grew up in the 50s and I'm in the 80s baby so she's got to see more but yet still brainwashed by the old ways but I believe even she is starting to see things for what they really are and sees why I truly love my country regardless of the buffoonery going on behind the iron curtain anyways hope you and the channels team and your families are Blessed and stay frosty, and if need be (which I believe most people these days should be all the animals are armed why not) strapped and dangerous †
I did the same thing with a church for 25 yrs I plowed and did repairs to the dirt driveway and lot but sometimes the pastor would give me stuff and when he was able he would give me like 20.00 for fuel
Black ice is a thin, transparent layer of ice that forms on surfaces like roads, sidewalks, and driveways typically from rain just at freezing temperatures
Does vsi have these that would run off truck battery versus a gas engine? I used to have gas engine sanders and they were always an issue after a year old
Stan did you order a new truck for Alex driving through and spaying brine will corrode his truck in a year or two. Need a POS to do pretreatment and post treatments or a short term lease truck
Why not put airbags? Instead of springs? We put basically f550 springs in it and man it rode so rough. We put it in there to tow excavators with f150 we towed 4 ton machines with it. Not ideal but it did it. We took the springs out and kept the bags because the springs were so bad
Black ice isn't caused by black liquid out of your exhaust. Lol It usually occurs at night when temperatures drop below freezing and freeze the moisture left on road from the condensation caused by the sun thawing the roads during the day or temperatures rising above freezing during the day. It is also caused by freezing rain or drizzle or by plow not using enough salt and snow melt refreezing on the road.
Thanks for the science lesson, I appreciate the clarification! That is another cause of Black Ice along with exhaust condensation going onto the roads.
@Dirtmonkey There isn't enough condensation coming out of an exhaust pipe to cause any significant icing. If there was my semi truck in with tail pipe in front of drives would cause me to spin out all the time. Never had a problem, ever down to -45 degrees. Lots of water vapor at -45 degrees.
Aftermarket heavy duty spring, I haven’t seen one stock 1 ton ford that hasn’t needed to have the suspension beefed up in order for it to be used as a work truck and not just a passenger vehicle…..

Should add air bag suspension to help keep level load. And up grade the springs

Stanley, another excellent piece of advice and video 😮😊❤
That is nice looking set up. The app control looks sweet. The present and future of ice treatment.
I switched to brine for my house I love it and I’ll love it even more when my new Milwaukee switch tank comes in and I have a power sprayer again
Excellent content Stan! It is a learning process with brine vs salt? Thank you!🇺🇸
As a former DPW worker we used salt and had 2 sadle tanks of calcium chlorine that sprays the salt as it comes out.

Aftermarket air bags, work great, simple and kinda cheap!

Love the Snow videos you should make a new plow comparison video .
We were having vehicle accidents galore. There was a 17 car pile-up and semi accident on a major highway.

That brine sprayer could also do a sugar solution.
I did the same thing with a church for 25 yrs I plowed and did repairs to the dirt driveway and lot but sometimes the pastor would give me stuff and when he was able he would give me like 20.00 for fuel
STAN i saw the rice equipment trailer in the background . Let's have a review now that you had some time with it. Better than my Diamond C ?
When did you get that new low loader looks real nice
With brine there is less debris being tracked into buildings.
I'm wondering if you were planning on selling a plow truck as a whole setup with the front and back plow?
Black ice is a thin, transparent layer of ice that forms on surfaces like roads, sidewalks, and driveways typically from rain just at freezing temperatures
What type of brine are you making? Sodium, Calcium or Magnesium? Do you use Beet Juice to cause it to stick? What are the ground and air temperatures?
DPW, we use salt and calcium saddle tanks.
maybe some air bags on that suspension ,alex.,thanks for the video.
So why do the crew buy 2nd hand trucks? Did you buy them stan or the crew? Surprised you didn't buy brand new.
Why are u selling all the pull plows.
Man I am so impressed with the amoujt inventory !
Which trucks get sold with plow can we get video which truck they are?
what kind of plow trucks are you selling ? how much are they and do they come with a plow , thanks
The new truck is only a 250, not really designed for that work load / payload. I’m pretty sure the white 15 was a 350 hence took the load better
Does vsi have these that would run off truck battery versus a gas engine? I used to have gas engine sanders and they were always an issue after a year old
Stan are you guys looking at air bags for Alex’s new truck for the rear suspension?
Pretty cool unit. If it only had a fuel line shut off
Can you make a video of a parking lot that was treated with brine after it has snowed out?
Maybe check out Sumo springs for the Ford.
In regards to free work, just remember, no good deed goes unpunished.

Bags are nice, but its one more thing to break when you need it
Stan, brine actually costs less than rock salt when you run the numbers and the savings between the two, you will reap the benefits of brine.
Totally forgot you got the brine system !
Why are you selling all the pull plows? You had me sold on them and almost bought one. I just didn't have the truck for it

Buddy I've been looking for a back plow

The question is : HOW FAST THE BACK OF THE TRUCK WILL FALL OFF 😂 SALT AND ANY METAL DONT GO TOGETHER MUCH 😂😂
why don't you use beet juice mixed with salt brine that's what we use
More long videos of getting snow and ice equipment prepped and ready !
I HATE driving on Icey roads, in my book, ice is the worst.
here to help
Dif you a get her set up a
Here are the results from last night, but that doesn't include last night???
Ford stock suspension sucks, they build them to ride nice, but they suffer when it comes to working them....
That’s what helper bags are for a good ride and adjustable load bearing
So what do ya recommend
Aftermarket heavy duty spring, I haven’t seen one stock 1 ton ford that hasn’t needed to have the suspension beefed up in order for it to be used as a work truck and not just a passenger vehicle…..
They are fine when you don’t order FX4. Off-road. Order it heavy duty payload and max tow and plow ready and you have the best truck from the factory.
People think that “off road” means heavy duty. Off road suspension is SOFT and flexible on any vehicle.
And Brine dpoes more damage than salt. Research that as well. We are screwed either way.
You can't have black ice during winter time black ice during summer time
You guys want to see rust ??? Brine will rust things you didn't even know could rust !!!
Better fluid film them trucks if you want them to last
You need electricity at your shop
I'm interested in one of your plows can you contact me
