      Gas pipes lead into much smaller villages in CZ. Even without gas pipes, connection of heat pump is possible, however during 2022 crisis prices went so high and remain quite high so many esp. elderly people cant afford it. In case of my 78yrs old fatherinlaw heating with heat pump costed almost 50% of his yearly income, now still over 25%, just electrity, no depreciation.

    Hello from southeast Texas , in 1890 early 1900’s more than one million Czech Moravia came to Texas. We eat poppyseed and other favor kolaches on weekly basic here in southeast Texas. We have two first class Czech Museums here in Houston and LaGrange, Tx. All my four grandparents came from Czechoslovak. Your video is very good and thank you for it. My parents started taking groups to Czechoslovak back in 1960’s and my Dad was in U S Army during WW 11 stationed in England next Czechs pilots as they fought for the West. Thanks .

      Hello. I watch on FB the Nebraska Czech community and I found out that Nebraskians really like kolache, or as we call them koláče. Same stuff, same word :)
      And the only difference is that typical kolache is small like donut sized one, frgál is huge one, like a big pizza.
      And yes .. Czechs really do like poppy seed :D

    The most Grounded Travel vlogs I've ever watched . The Narrators look Normal and not superficial. They're not onto doing something very dangerous and Exciting , they're just exploring the towns. I find this style of Exploration very peaceful. Personally speaking it gives me hope and confidence that an Introvert like me can in fact become one travel vlogger sometime in the future . (I suppose you two to be introverts btw)

    • @SarahandMarek
      @SarahandMarek  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you so much! We take that as a big compliment 😄 In all honesty, anyone can be a travel vlogger. Since people are all so different, everyone enjoys different styles etc. That means there is room for all different personalities to be vloggers. You should definitely give it a try!
      I'd say we were more introverted when we started but have become more extroverted and our confidence has grown since starting our channel. Starting this channel was one of the best decisions we ever made ☺💛

    I can't believe youtube just randomly recommended me a video of two foreigners visiting a village that's like 20 minutes away from my home :D I know I'm 2 years late, but here's some fun facts from a local:
    - Nový Hrozenkov is located in a region called Valašsko (Moravian Wallachia). Because it's located in Moravia (and Moravia has had beef with Bohemia for centuries), people here are very sensitive about being called Czech/Bohemian, because we are Moravians dammit! :D
    - the "sweet pizza-like pastry" is called a "frgál" and it's not a traditional Czech pastry but a traditional pastry from the Valašsko region. The one that tasted like rum was probably made with pear jam (hrušková povidla). Other typical flavours are poppy seeds, plum jam or cottage cheese.
    - Czechia doesn't really use all-purpose flour. Instead, we have 3 types divided by the coarseness. The one you showed in the video was the semi-coarse one, but to be fair this one is the most used type
    - in the mountainous/foresty regions of the country, it is very common to have venison on the menu in the local restaurants. Especially during the hunting season in autumn/winter. Lots of fallow deer and boar meat everywhere. We even have a ball season at the beginning of the year commemorating the end of the hunting season. It usually has a raffle and you can win stuff from household appliances to a whole boar

It's gotten to the point where I know where to go without a GPS and some people actually remember me. One thing about the restaurants I have visited. Most do have a english version of their menus (just ask and see), or it is incorporated into the existing menu. Without a doubt the food is excellent and depending on what you order, it could be in large portions. Overall good time everytime we visit! Always looking forward to the next visit!

And there is acutally another Jednota in this village 😁 A smaller one, but they have open almost everytime 👀 Which comes handy at weekends. XDD Not just in Poland, Czechs like the poppyseed as well, as we use it in baking and for some sweet foods as well. Though this is special kind of poppyseed, that is cultivar made for cooking with a extremely low alcaloid content. There are sometimes problems with some importers buying cheap farmaceutical grade poppyseed and selling it as poppyseed for food (which is of course forbidden).

      Well basically in Czech language dam "přehrada" is artifical but with dam as a scructure where lake and dam are not small, there are only few of them. Otherwise if it's artificial it's lake "jezero". If it's natural and not big it's pond "rybník".

      @@DaweSlayer It's not only about size, it has just some historical reasons, Máchovo Jezero probably lost it's original purpose long time ago, so people don't even realize it's actually pond, but rybník Rožmberk is still called rybník even when it's bigger than máchovo jezero, because everyone knows it's pond and it's still used for growing fishes.

      Hey there! We do not speak the language but managed to get by. It was rather tricky going to the restaurant and grocery store because there is not much English spoken but with Google translate we managed to get by and order and purchase the food that we were looking for. So in summary, no you do not need to know the language but having a basic understanding of a few phrases will go a long way :)

    • @wowado
      @wowado 5 місяців тому

      No, that is a pond. Almost every village has one as water reservoir for swimming, fishing (they are maintained by fishermen) and it was used by firefighters before cars with their own water cisterns. Ponds are mostly build by vilagers or their managers. Lakes are larger than ponds and usually made by flooding some area such as valley or old mine. They can be also natural.
