Man I love you. What an honest analysis of the crash-no ego, just honesty. And thanks for sharing the information on your injuries. You are a very special person. I wish the very best for you. BTW, the medical device that kept your foot in traction is an external fixator. It sounds like you got 1st class care. I’m a doctor in the US and I’m very impressed! Please take care Naska.

What an amazing guy. No blame - he owns the issue. He does not deflect or excuse. He analyzes to teach us and improve for next time. Finally, he acknowledges the medical staff and thanks them. It's not often I am impressed with a guy, like I am here.

"Free" medical care is a human right. The US spends billions of tax dollars on military equipment to "defend" it's citizens, when they could be better spent on medical care to actually save their lives.

Best wishes and SPEEDY recovery Alberto! Maybe this will make you heal faster. I did my first Track Day at 62 years old. I was a MotoCrosser many many moons prior. I love it! On day two, with a little precipitation, too much enthusiasm and not enough experience, I did a massive HIGH SIDE! I broke my clavicle into 7 pieces, broke ribs two through eight front and back, broke my pelvis but a nice break, and had a collapsed lung. I got back on the horse nearly one year later, and I LOVE it more! Only wish I had started earlier, and wish I had learned to walk before I tried to run! Love your channel!

Your honesty and humble spirit is too beautiful. I could definitely use a friend like you. I hope and pray that you will be better soon and back on the bike. I'd think twice about racing again if I was you. I'm 63 and enjoy my superbike. I've adjusted to: "I don't have to be fast, because my bike is". That doesn't mean that I'm crawling. I just don't allow the adrenaline to rule.

My god man... unlucky is the right word in this case.. I hope you’re able to keep yourself together and stay positive! Maybe it would be nice (for as far it is physically possible) to be at the races of your class as a ‘coach’. Help the rider to understand everything and make him better. I think with content like that you can learn a lot of things to the viewers of this channel!
I wish you all the best man.. the only way is up from here!

As a physical therapist, I have worked with many people following injuries such as these. You are indeed very fortunate not to have damaged your spinal cord. That is why those first responders kept you from moving around! An unstable fracture of the spine can easily shift and damage that precious bundle of nerves that allows your brain to communicate with the rest of your body. I loved hearing about the experience from the perspective of the person living it, rather than from the perspective of the health care providers. Those external fixators are crazy aren't they? Seems like it worked for you. As your doctors have probably already told you, your risk of developing arthritis in that ankle is higher now. The joy of racing makes the risk of injury and long term consequences worthwhile huh? Best of luck to you! Thanks for sharing.

I can't believe how unlucky you are, I'm really, really, really sorry for you.
What is most admirable is how positive you are. I really have to say I admire you.
also how you have improved with your motorcycle, so if someone does not give you props, they are just envious.
So it's a shame that nothing more of you will come from the race track in the near future, but the most important thing is that you get 100% healthy again.
I wish you all the best with all my heart and that you will be fully fit again next year.

If you can get your head around it, starting a bike race is the most dangerous part of the whole event - chaos; everyone in the corner, tyres cold, brakes cold, head not in the flow yet, etc., so being able to be smooth and 'slow' (not rushing) until things spread out is a way to survive and to win races. In other words, you know you go fastest when your head is going slow, when you flow through corners - the opposite of that adrenalin filled rushing at the start. Very difficult to do but essential. All the best Alberto.

I also broke astragal bone 7 months ago, not by racing, just by running with orthopedic sole. Not a big fracture, a very small one, but no one know if i will one day be able to run again normally. Fortunately, i can race without too much pain and i thank luck for it. Huge support man, hope you recover well and let this misadventure behind you ! V

This is actually so helpful to understand what can go wrong and why. Too quick on the throttle, before the rear wheel has enough weight for proper traction, then an over correction and that is what caused the high side.

I also had a racing motorcycle accident and broke my astrágalo. luckily I was operated on the very day, it took me almost 1 year to recover, the physiotherapy is quite hard but it helped a lot in the recovery of the mobility of the foot. nowadays I can do everything like the old days but I don’t have total mobility in the broken foot, luckily the limitation is small and doesn’t limite anything when driving motorcycles. I wish you a speedy and good recovery

I’m currently healing from 2 broken wrists/hands, and a tibial plateau fracture(top of leg bone, right below the knee, so can’t move or put weight on the whole leg or foot) from a motorcycle accident. Doctors are amazed I’m alive. Can’t even start to try to walk for 8weeks. I feel your pain. But I can’t wait to get back on my bikes again!! Ride safe! Maybe do some product reviews and/or racing breakdown videos while you’re recovering, if you feel up to it. Get well soon brother!

I've been following all your videos. As bad as crashing sucks, it is cool to figure out what went wrong. When you crash without all the video and data, you still never try to figure out what went wrong. You try and break down every little thing. My last crash broke my right femur, and if you think that is painful, while I was in a local hospital I had to call home to my wife !

Wow! That ankle break was hardcore man. Hope you have a speedy recovery!!
I guess I'll tell my story. I'm currently recovering from an accident on 7/13/20, an 83 yr old lady came from a side street on the right and didn't stop appropriately at the stop sign and floored her car across the main road I s traveling North on and smashed into me. I was doing the speed limit, approx 40mph on my 2019 Ninja 650. My bike was totalled. I can't believe the force and how fast my body flew off the bike. I flipped like a rag doll and went over the front of her car and landed on the road.
I had on full gear but still I broke my right clavicle and my right shoulder has a SLAP Tear. I fractured my femur head (greater trocantur) and broke the tibial plateau. I had a complete knee dislocation and had reconstructive knee surgery, the surgeon had to put 2 screws in my knee. When the massive trauma to the left leg happened, the ligaments & tendons blew apart basically and tore a piece of bone from the knee, they found the bone 4 inches up my leg, so that got repaired thankfully. I don't think my left knee and right shoulder will ever be the same. I do PT twice a week, they come to my home. I can't drive yet.
Modern medicine and these surgeons are God sends. Unfortunately, in America, our health care is NOT free!
I just can't believe how well these surgeons can put the body back together. My surgeon is fantastic!!
    The pain horrible though 😫

I'm gutted....... I've loved and learned a lot from watching your channel. Not that it will help you fix any faster, but I highsided (on the slowest corner) on track and broke, my clavicle, my shoulder blade, both wrists, dislocated my leg, snapped my acetabulum and my broke my pelvis. It was hard work, but within 6 months my friends wheeled me to my bike, lifted me on and I rode a trackday.
Get well soon my friend and if you are stuck for content, how about I come over and you teach me how to go faster!

The best episode yet with honesty.
This happens all the time with motorbike racing, or riding in general. Thanks for showing aspects of reality while healing. I feel it is good to watch honesty, because it is where I live.♥️

the rule number one of the Twist of the Wrist still holds in your case. it sounds simple but it may be very hard to apply every time in real situations. sometime we are under pressure to win or just some ego goes ahead and bypasses the rule. Thank you for sharing and wish you best luck to recover. I believe you can do lots of things during the recovery! Thank you again.

Naska at 10:13 - its sound like a horror movie and I can imagine how it was.
1 sec later naska spoke about the situation like nothing happend - that makes me smile 😊
Not about the situation just how positive you are thinking :)

Thanks for all the videos of your journey. I'll miss them if you don't find a way to continue. I lowsided at 100 MPH last month at a track day and walked away. I"m 67 years old. Luck is funny. Some days you have it. Some days you don't. Either way, we go on... Looking forward to you back in the pits with your friends. Godspeed. Mike from Boston, USA

Thanks for the update! Great content as always! Don't worry too much about your ankle mobility at the moment! Keep up with your exercises and as the swelling around the ankle and foot reduces you will find that increased mobility will return naturally (the swelling is the body protecting the injury) and your progress will be better than you expect!
Moto GP has a lot of crashes to keep you busy on your channel! Can you go over some of them? especially Maverick Vinales amazing jump off the bike when his brakes failed at over 200km and he had no big injuries!

When I shattered my hip last season, they gave me fentanyl in the ambulance. Going by your description, I think that's what you got too. Man that was good.
After my surgery, luckily I didn't need any additional painkillers.

It is good to hear that you are doing well Alberto. Make certain that you are doing movement therapy on the foot and ankle as the doctor says, no matter how much it hurts so you can get back on the track next season. We all look forward to your continued video content while healing. All the best to you Alberto.

I feel your pain. Rehab from one of my elbow surgeries wast one of the most grueling thing I have experienced. My only advice is to push through as much pain as you can handle so you can get as much range of motion back as possible. If you don't push through the pain you can lose quite a bit of motion. Good luck on your recovery! (I know it's been months but yea, still!)

Wow, this is some production you have put together! It was fascinating to see the telemetry right next to the video. What I wouldn't have given to have that when I raced. Of course, that 40 years ago. :) Best of luck on your healing and I look forward to your videos!

we are with you man. take it easy and patiently. don't rush if it's a bad injury. the better you heal it, the better it will be for you to race lightminded. also when you will get older. a badly repaire fracture can be really painful with age. not cool.
