Haha I'd give this one a solid 7/10 beards, the FOV is a touch claustrophic/tight, if it was just a little wider it would be absolute perfection. Still completely playable and very enjoyable though 😁
So I have a Quest 2 and I did buy VorpX and I managed after 6hrs to get it working in Star Citizen. It worked, ok-ish. One thing I struggled with and an idea for a video would be what combinations work with what games etc. So what headset with what software(vorpx, Oculus software, steamVR, Virtual Desktop etc) and what game and platform work together. Even what software you should not have running when when you play certain games or apps. Would this be something you might think of doing? Or have done?
Hmmm it would definitely require some extensive research, I'm actually still learning these things myself. Does the Bioshock trilogy have 6DoF with VorpX? I've been finding conflicting info regarding this. What I'm wondering is can I get the same experience as for example playing RE7 on PSVR, 6DoF with regular gamepad?
Very nice!!! I don't think I've actually used a title that supports it in Vorpx as of yet haha, I might try Dark Messiah as a test 😁 thank you! From what I remember Bioshock didn't have positional tracking, it had direct VR scan and felt awesome to play but I can't remember it having 6DOF

The battlefield 4 campaign was actually pretty good, it's the only one that I came back and played a again. Shame the next Battlefield game won't have a campaign.
Yeah honestly I don't remember this campaign being quite this good, its really really fun! I remember the Battlefield One campaign being super forgettable sadly and I don't think I ever touched BF5 story mode 🤔
@@BeardoBenjo @Beardo Benjo Agree, Battlefield 1 was a beautiful game, but the actual Campaign was very forgettable, Battlefield 5's Campaign was very similar, I played it because I thought it would be a good test for my new RTX 3070, unfortunately the DX12 mode has frame pacing issues and strange texture flickering, so best avoid that one if you wanted to enjoy ray tracing.
SO basically, this is BF that you were seeing in 3D and instead of controlling the orientation with your mouse, you are doing it with your head? Got it. Hmm... Pity the mods couldn't disconnect the VR camera from the arms and apply hand tracking to make BF VR more essential to play using two controllers. Combine that will a full-on head track would make this insane to play. I wonder how the modders are progressing now...?
Awesome time to review this as B4 is 80% off on Steam at the moment 😀. Last time I played this series was on my Xbox a couple of years back and was constantly killed 🙃. Really looking forward to trying this with the Quest 2 via airlink or Virtual Desktop. Also wanted to mention that you can emulate an Xbox controller in Virtual Desktop using the touch controllers and it works really well 👍
Thats one thing I haven't tried at all, the emulation of an Xbox pad on the touch controllers sounds fantastic, I need to sit and set it up/play with it! The online works really well with BF4 as well, the only issue is the FOV being a little tight, means you can get shot before you even know what's going on haha
Yeah I'm capturing from mirror and I'm losing a chunk from the left & right to ensure the capture is fullscreen. Its definitely a little tight FOV wise however, could do with tuning it a little more
Yeah I need to do more of these, I fell off the wagon for a bit but thays mainly because VR was giving us loads of native games. Its slowed down a bit now and I need games to play 😎

Crosshair should be bound to mouse movements not the VR headset POV. Heli and Jets are unplayable this way. Clearly not VR optimized game. But could be done.
Yeah the programme that pushes these flat games into VR (3D, headtracking etc) can only do some much and one of the restrictions is that the cursor is bound to head tracking because basically your headset is just replicating the mouse. Perhaps one day we'll get a true native VR Battlefield game 🤞🏻
Haha its pretty sweet, what I will say though is Vorpx is very hit and miss, its great for some games and complete shit for others 🤣 takes a lot of patience and fine tuning to get right but when it works like this its awesome

Hi. I'm trying to play BF3 with VorpX. Does the in-gamr gun / aim reticle also move when you move your head or just purely the in-game head/view? When I move my real head, not only does the in-game character's head/view move - as it should - but also the gun / aim reticle. In other words, I can literally aim my weapon purely by moving my head if I want, I don't even have to touch the mouse (besides to press the fire button). I tried a lot of options in the in-game VorpX pop-up settings thing but nothing seems to fix it.
may I ask what's the lowest type of PC to play this game on cuz I don't have a VR PC but I really would love to play this in my Quest 2 and if I can plz show us new VR Quest 2 players how to do so I'm sure we would love that content My VR BROTHA Thank you soooooo much for ur time .
Hey Mr Benjo what res did you play at? I love Vorpx but haven't had that much success with first person games in VR mode, they always look blurry. I have a great time using immersive screen though.
Hey bud, I tend to use official profiles and most of them alter the resolution & graphical settings of the game automatically so I'm not 100% sure what resolution this was set to. I've seen some great "custom resolution" guides on the Vorpx forums but haven't dug into them myself to really test whats possible. Full VR mode definitely has that soft edged blur to it for a lot of games, especially if you're used to playing native VR games that look so crisp.
@@BeardoBenjo Hey man, thanks. Cool, I tend to just use the official profiles too and have also seen, but not tried, the stuff on the Vorpx forum. I see this is on sale for about £4 so might grab it and have a play about in Vorpx. Keep up the great work, yours is my fave VR channel.
i can't figure out what you have to do when an enemy is on your 6, how can you kill him? or can you also adjust the view with the mouse and then only fine adjust with the head? for me it looks like you can't really turn...
Hey beardo thanks for this, I'm a huge battlefield fan and to be able to play b4 in VR would be amazing, i was wondering if u could check to see if Black Mesa is playable in VR, thanks again, long live Monty Python !!
It works with an Xbox Contoller/PC gamepad and it will work with Oculus Touch controllers but not motion controls. You have to map the buttons to the touch controllers yourself 😊
It would be great in these videos if you could show how you set it up. I tried it with vorpx and it looked awful. Felt like I was playing the game through a magnifying glass. Tried zooming out and then it was like it was in big picture mode.
Agreed. a screen capture of the game's graphical settings, what cloud profile was used, and your default vorpX screen settings would be useful. I can get it to work, but in full VR mode, the whole gamescreen shifts significantly (e.g., looking at a stationary object moves slightly as I turn my head left and right). The only way I was able to correct this was by going to Letterbox2 at 0.65 zoom (this is still slight movement of stationary objects, but way less than before). Immersion Mode also works, but I lose the 360 degree headtracking. For myself, a stable image and full 360 head-tracking is what makes FPS shooters worth playing.
I very rarely use the cloud profiles, I just use the official profiles as almost every game has one nowadays. Sometimes I'll have to make a profile myself and that takes a bit of tinkering but honestly I typically just load the game up once without vorpx, then hook vorpx on, get into the gameplay and tweak until it feels right. Sometimes that means half an hour of fine tuning and other times its as simple as selecting the "direct VR scan" option from the Vorpx menu (games that have direct VR scan offer the best results, it fixes FOV, scale & 3D in one quick sweep, they feel the closest to native VR typically). Its also rare that I play with the games graphical settings, most official profiles will alter the settings automatically and change things like resolution to give the best experience. Switching off motion blur is usually the most I have to do. I did toy with making Vorpx guides for a while but its such an odd piece of software, what I would consider enjoyable or acceptable is completely unplayable for others so it makes it very hard to create a definitive setup for it when peoples expectations of the software are vastly different. I've been using it for about 3years now and have only just now got good at fine tuning to get the results that I enjoy 🤣🙃
@@BeardoBenjo Thank you for responding. I almost always use the official vorpX profile myself as well. I usually go to the cloud profiles to see what is available in addition to the official vorpX profile, as well as checking out games that do not have an official profile (e.g. Dying Light). I may need to recheck, but I'm not sure I recall if BF4 had a 'Direct VR scan' or not. Thanks for the video.
@@BeardoBenjo thanks for the detailed reply. I've tried using the best online profiles and tweaking but never managed to get a game looking good enough to be playable. It's a shame there aren't more modders out there that make VR mods like Alien Isolation. I'd happily play through a lot of games with a normal controller if they looked great in VR. Still gutted the Halo Master Chief VR mod got benched.
Why is it that no VR headset s offer VORPX as a native feature ? It would be nice simply so as you go thru standard media within the confines of a stand alone set via wifi that so could more easily choose what you want to convert and experiment with . I figure certain Store bought PC and Laptops always offer inclusive software deals to promote sales so why shouldn't the Upcoming Generation s of Stand alone and portdrive accessible sets come out on the market.
God damn that would be amazing, I've never actually given any thought to it. I guess its because Vorpx can't guarantee a set degree of quality from the experiences, some are amazing, others are fine and then some just flatout don't work. I'd assume the big headset companies would want to implement a feature that just works to a decent degree without any tinkering on the consumers part 🤔
Not gonna lie... I've been watching this channel since not long after it started and I always had it in my head that the channels name was Beardo Banjo 😐. Always sounded like Banjo to me in the intro and I think that just got stuck in my head. I seem to be cursed with vorpx because I've tried so many different games and yet it always looks terrible to me. Like the FOV is way too low but increasing the fov in vorpx make it look worse.
🤣🤣 honestly I get called Beardo Banjo so often by so many other people, I'm used to it now haha! Argh Vorpx is a weird beast, I think a lot of it boils down to personally preference and tolerance, I'm pretty tolerant and use it as a fun way to check out these non VR games rather than a replacement for them but I understand why some people are disappointed with it. It also takes a long time to fine tune some games to look right and feel good. I'd say Outlast, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal, Mirrors Edge & any other game that supports direct VR scan are the best places to start, the FOV in all of those is automatically adjusted and its very close to native
@@BeardoBenjo Ha! Glad I'm not the only one. I think you're just going to have to accept your fate and invest in a banjo. Thanks for the Vorpx suggestions. Definitely going to try out Mirrors Edge. I imagine that will be a true test of my VR legs!
@@CaptainOblivious23 why do people keep pushing it? Videos like this made me want to buy it. I have zero grudge with the company, but people saying it turns games in vr are just wrong... it makes the image closer to your face, maybe takes out the sides, but no vr 3D effects.
@@shaneyd1986 when you have this effect it just means you have the Fov of the game wrong, or the zoom is wrong. Some games need mods to get the right Fov. @@CaptainOblivious23 yeah people that write this stuff just didn't put in the time, it is not plug & play! Yeah that is more plausible then MAYBE you are doing something wrong.
Yeah its just not a plug and play piece of software, from what you're saying it sounds like something is definitely being executed wrong because you definitely do get 3D visuals, don't get me wrong some games are better than other and some are downright awful. I've been using it for about 3 years and I wouldn't say I'm "pushing the software" personally, I always make a point to say it takes a lot of tinkering and it isn't perfect but it can be a lot of fun if you're patient with it and have the right mind to spend time adjusting settings until you get something cool.
I'd assume the big headset companies would want to implement a feature that just works to a decent degree without any tinkering on the consumers part 🤔
i dont know if i like the head tracking linked to cursor
War Dust VR
Can i play this game by aim controller?
👍👍👍
😁😁😁
You can play online multiplayer
I don't get it. I have vorpx and NO GAME has ever come close to looking like a vr game
You and literally every other comment I've ever read online about it. Especially for it's price, I'd expect better.
It is not all plug & play, you have to do some work to get games right. I seriously got some games perfectly visually like a full VR supported games.
@@CaptainOblivious23 yeah people that write this stuff just didn't put in the time, it is not plug & play! You can get a lot off games visually as if it it has native VR support (not talking about controls and stuff). People that write this stuff always irritate me, as they are essentially saying that all the people that do say they get good results are all deluded.
It'll never be a substitute for native VR but its a damn cool way to check out non VR games
First
I suppose you can never shave off your beard now. How will people know who you are?!
This is not vr
it looks horribly over magnified?????
Not really vr there my guy. Lmfao
