What is UEVR? How are you playing Squad in VR? I'm confused! Help!
It's an external plugin that "Injects" VR into your game, it should work with the majority of unreal engine 4 and 5 games.

START HERE
What you Need:
1) A VR headset that can connect to Steam VR. This is basically every headset, if you have something like me, a Quest2 or Quest3, install the steamlink app(FREE) from the Meta store to connect to your PC wirelessly or with a cable. DO NOT USE VIRTUAL DESKTOP(Paid app) I tried it and it was causing me major issues, wait until it's fixed.
2) The game Squad.
3) A beefy PC, the game has to be rendered TWICE (one for each eye) and played at a higher resolution. I went from around 160FPS on desktop to 45-55FPS in VR in most situations.
4) Patience.
Tutorial:
Step 1:
Install UEVR (follow this guide, explains it better than i could, Don’t launch Squad yet)

Step 2:
Launch Squad BUT make sure you’re running it without EAC (anti-cheat) by launching it through its folder NOT via Steam’s launcher, It should be somewhere like:
X:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Squad/SquadGame/Binaries/Win64/SquadGame.exe
DO NOT TRY TO JOIN A SERVER (very likely EAC might think you are using hacks and BAN your account, you’ve been warned)
Step 3:
From Squad’s main menu, go to training - launch jensens range.
Step 4.
Select whatever kit and spawn.
Step 5.
Alt-Tab out of the game and Launch Steam VR. (we havent launched UEVR yet)
Step 6:
Launch UEVRInjector.exe that you installed from Step 1.
Step 7:
In the UEVRInjector window, select Squad from the Inject processes list. Choose the OpenVR setting (Open XR gave me issues) and click Inject. After a few seconds go back to your VR headset and voila. You are in VR.

Step 8.
Now, you will find that you can’t walk or do much at all. UEVR translates your VR controllers into an Xbox gamepad. So you need to fool Squad into thinking you are using one. On your desktop go to Options then Controls and you’re gonna need to assign movement to your left joystick, fire to your right trigger, ADS left trigger, reload to A and so on. It’s gonna take some tinkering until you get everything working.
At this point you should be able to run around, shoot, reload using your motion controllers but most likely than not, your camera is gonna be off and you aren’t able to look through the guns sights.
Tuning the camera:
On your desktop, open the UEVR screen that launched after you pressed inject, the main thing that I changed is where the camera is located so I could use the scope.
These are VR_CameraFowardOffset, VR_CameraRightOffset, VR_CameraUpOffset, you’re gonna have to mess with it until the sights look perfect when you ADS ingame. I recommend you do very minor changes using the desktop app by typing the numbers (not using the slider) because its a lot easier to make small adjustments. I don’t know if mine will work for you but they are

And you’re good to go!
I recommend a mod like Zeus(link above) to fight against bots and build your own missions.
There are UEVR profiles that you can import but only for other games. When one becomes available for Squad I will link it here and that should save people a ton of time. I'm not sharing mine because its extremely jank and broken.
Issues:
1 Everytime I die I have to use the mouse on my desktop to select a spawn location.
2 When I’m using vehicles and it changes direction, I’m still facing the same way and I have to physically rotate my body to match the vehicles direction. Its not very good and the main reason why I didnt show many vehicles ahah
3 I’m also unable to do small adjustments to the vehicles gun sights without using a mouse (the game thinks you are using WASD to swing the gun).
4 I can’t use the ingame UI for resupplying and had to use the mouse to be able to interact with it.
5 Many scopes don’t work and I don’t know why. (ie ACOG)
6 A lot of the VFX will only display on 1 eye, you wont see this on the recording though!
If anyone figures these out let me know and I’ll update the description.

Yes its offline! The mod is injecting stuff into your game, anti-cheat could (potentially) ban you, not recommended.
Yep, they are bots! Because- it's offline. The bots are part of a mod.
And one thing I forgot to mention, if you dont have audio after following the guide you need to change your audio output in the game settings (I literally ran out of characters to type in the description LMAO)
How do you do a offline match?
I'm getting "SErialization error: Action needed" error window saying I need to verify files, when running from the squad folder to avoid EAC. Did you run into this?
Hey! just launch into the training map. If you wanna fight bots you need to use one of the mods I linked. After that just type "Admin changelayer" in the console followed by the map name@@tehtrc3235
I had no errors besides a couple of crashes (probably Zeus mods related). However I will say, verifying files doesn't always work, you might need to uninstall and reinstall the game. (try verifying first though) @@Kogtrey
Is there any way to use this in multiplayer without getting banned or is it doomed to be used only in singleplayer ?

@@olegdusov4273 For the most part I agree with you as another VR owner. However, the quests are selling like pretty crazy, millions of units for Q2 and Q3, so there is yet some life in VR.

I said as an argument - why this will never be an official thing.
A lot of work to make VR version good, then maintain the quality for new content, all of that to get absolutely insignificant amount of sales to players with HIGH-end pc's and headsets.
Quest is doing well, because it is basically a console, buy and play.
Meanwhile, PCVR to this day requires a lot of planning, tweaking and problem-solving from customers.

It works pretty damn good actually!!! But I cant get sound to work for some reason using the G2.
its using the UEVR injector. Flying Helos now is especially cool as you can compltely look around.
I was also jsut using mouse and Keyboard. It works well.
With some waiting, this will be a thing in "free squad", aka Operation: Harsh Doorstop.

There's like no draw to play VR from a flat gamer perspective, the last big game in mainstream eyes was and still is Half Life Alyx. Maybe Assassin's Creed Nexus now but not really. Classic chicken and the egg scenario. No one wants to risk making a great VR game, no players come, no money, no games.
@@samushamu7372 no, PCVR probably will never be number 1 platform anymore, PC games will remain as Quest ports, because it has a massive playerbase, thanks to all the parents, who buy Quest for their kids.
You can buy a pcvr headset, that need a powerful PC AND someone, who understands how to setup all of this

Lethal company VR on Quest, Minecraft is still not on Quest officially, Roblox is, but there is barely any games in it for VR.
Long term FUN games, that keep players engaged. 10 hours strory games cant do that. We have shooter genre mostly covered, but Im personally super bored from them, I played them for couple of years, now I want to have coop fun, is there fun coop games for Quest and PC VR? Barely any, currently Im playing Dungeons of Eternity, Phasmophobia and unreleased Lethal company mod

If this was a true standalone VR game it would literally be one of the best, if not the best vr game out there

there is no doubt. it would be the best vr game ever made. there is nothing better suited to vr than simulators, nothing better suited than online with other vr players, and nothing better suited to it than fps games. combine these as a fleshed out mil sim game in vr, hands down the best possible use case for vr.

@@TruthPrevails24 yeah I've been saying that too, OWI just has to add the Post Scriptum gore system to Squad, but it'll be very unlikely because they said a lot of veterans play Squad so adding realistic gore would very likely trigger them in some way, but there is gore in Post Scriptum because because there isn't much WW2 veterans alive to even play it, something like that but it's close
@@sethorite yeah, I could see that which sucks cause I understand that but if someone has that bad of triggers, they shouldn’t be playing a game like that at all especially at home because I could definitely danger themselves. and I don’t know I think if other games can do it they can too because Alma I know a lot of people won’t agree on me with this, but I think Arma is more realistic than squad. It’s just a graphics on squatter better but I mean I legit fingers and body limbs, and everything flying off. I think they’re gonna make a new update, eyeballs and stuff pop out to.

This seems like it would be an invaluable training device for the military. I remember running convoy ops scenarios in ARMA 2 on a LAN one day with my platoon years ago when I was in. I can't imagine doing it in VR.

4:12 The iron sights on M16-based rifles are actually super accurate in real life (if zeroed properly). It's modeled surprisingly well here in VR!

eventually VR will progress to the state of being indistinguishable from reality and will cause mental issues. I mean, from my experience, older people legit cant tell VR and IRL apart, its already dangerous for them.

Squad is already so immersive at times I can't even imagine how immersive it is in VR. Legit, it is the only non-VR game that has caused me physical injury because I once jumped so hard I kneed myself in the jaw.

I remember this being a thing years ago as well but it got disabled because I think people were using it to cheat by looking through walls and stuff. If I remember correctly you just put a command in the launch properties and it would launch in VR because the devs left everything for basic VR support in the coding/files.

So with the ACOG, the view window is very narrow. They made it so your player's head (or camera in this sense) needs to be in a specific position in order to get a clear view. They did this so when you shoot, you're off sight/not aligned due to recoil. Or when you're moving a lot, you cant focus. Move your head towards the scope more or pull back. You'll end up finding the sweet spot, but its kinda trash when you're tryna stay alive lol.

I haven't seen this since the Oculus DK2 days. A few beta players like myself figured we could leave the runtime running and launch Squad and enjoy some hectic, downright traumatizing gunfights. Devs promptly removed VR features.

Looks awesome. VR is the only way to play. Have you tried Onward? It’s only 5v5 but it’s a VR combat game built from the ground up. Also if you get a gun stock its even more immersive

There is also a popular mod for contractors that makes it a super good VR milsim. It gives you realistic guns, gun physics, movement speeds, bullet speeds, great audio effects (bullet crack etc), pretty much everything you would want from a milsim in VR.. and it's actually pretty popular so there are always a couple lobbies up
@@stevensonsteven5965 of course it’s not the same. It isn’t supposed to be. It was the first VR FPS game out iirc probably 6 years ago. It changed what FPS games were. The things you can do in it can’t be done in this squad game which is why I mentioned it. Its was more about tactics & weapons handling. Squad is a standard game, multiple lives etc.

Imagine if they launch an update that brings compatibility with VR and you can realistically aim and mess around with your weapon with the actual hand motions detected by both your hands… the game would be unstoppable among the VR community
I'll say it at least looks really good on video. Pretty crazy evolution of the flat-to-VR mods, up until the last year or so the most you got was seeing the game in headset with zero motion controls.
Obviously they're very simple here but in a way I feel like it works well.
