I set this camera up in a new location a couple weeks ago, I hung it sort of high up in a tree overlooking down into my DIY hog trap I’d just finished building. I’ve got another camera aimed at the entrance of the trap, so I’ll get a better sense of if it is triggering every time it should or not, and hopefully some good footage of activity inside the trap as well. Hopefully I’ll have a video featuring my trap soon, if I can get out and actually trap something this weekend before rifle deer season starts first weekend of Nov. (there’s a brief “sneak peek” of the trap in my “Redneck ASMR” Short cause I was finishing it the day I shot those clips😂). Doubt I’ll be doing too much hog trapping during deer season though (especially during the beginning) so it may have to wait until later in the season.🤞 Thanks again!!👍😁

You need to try the wild game Cellular trail camera I have one. It’s very nice no video but just take pictures. The pictures are very good quality and you can see so you should try.
Best way to tell if it is getting all activity is to put two cameras in same location and see if one captures more than this one. Saw where another creater did that with the Tasco you tested and it captured more than his $400 trail camera.
Yep, I’m sort of doing that now. I’ve put this camera up in a tree facing down into my hog trap, while I’ve got another camera (one of the Tascos) near the ground facing the entrance. I haven’t had the time to fully analyze the time stamp data between the 2 cameras yet, but so far it seems that this Hex is likely capturing less clips than I think it should be (based on its current settings), however it doesn’t appear as bad as I suspected it was going to be. I think that it’s waiting slightly longer between captures than the 1 minute I’ve got it set for, something like 3-5 mins instead. I’d like to create a spreadsheet to enter the time stamp data into and see if I can definitively determine if there’s an issue, and if so, what exactly is happening, and to what extent. I currently have several months worth of data/captures to work with - I want as large of a data set as possible to truly see if a pattern emerges. Hopefully I’ll be able to explore that further in the near future. Thank you for watching!!!👍😁
No, just for a few seconds when you turn it on. The IR lights do glow a faint red color when they are being used while it’s taking nighttime video or the “flash” for a picture. Thanks for watching!👍😁
Sounds like a bad camera to me. I am using this camera still (as an overhead shot into my Hog trap), but I’m still very suspicious that it is not triggering and capturing as much videos as it should be. Somewhat disappointing! I’ve had really good luck with WGI products in the past, but I’m still just not sure about this one. Thank you for watching!👍😁
It Sounds like it’s bad/not working correctly - I would think that you should get at least some pictures in 3 days. That sucks, these cameras aren’t cheap! Is it aimed at bait or anything and/or you know there’s been wildlife activity that it’s missed? Have you tried the video setting? Does that capture anything? Does it capture you coming to/from the camera? I’m still using mine, got it set up high looking down into my Hog trap. It’s capturing videos, but I have another (Tasco brand) camera lower to the ground that’s aimed at the trap’s entrance which is capturing more # of videos. I’m thinking my WG Hex camera may be doing a longer “delay” than I set it for causing it to miss some activity.
Another one talking about the strap, then setting it up pressing buttons like my son on computer. (just go like this pop) like I can see past your thumb. The buttons are the problem with this unit. They are not labeled well, and the instructions have all relevant pictures identical. You set the resolution, press enter, it changes. Set it again, try another button. It changes. The directions are as bad as these videos. Which freaking buttons are you pushing, and why?

I set this camera up a while back but I don’t recall it being that difficult, pretty similar to a lot of other trail cameras. I keep this camera in a tree over a hog trap now and haven’t messed with the settings for over a year so I do not remember its exact functionality. Anyways, hope you figure it out….

Yet, the system and instructions are not good. Camera has been junk it shuts off when it wants. Just trying to do photos.What am I doing wrong or is it a malfunction?
