Government has always been illegitimate. The circular logic of the state is that we need their gang to violate us because some other gang would do the same.
The coherent ones, yes. I think the writers wrote themselves into a corner with him and had to make him go a little crazy at the end and spout nonsense. But yeah, he was the most correct villain in Korra
Yeah but not with how he's used. I feel like he should've been on korras team for a while so he has time to train on screen. the main 4 are really bad, they should've shelved asami and the guys
Zaheer is a great villain not only for his motive but because of his subversive use of language and iconography. Western audiences in particular are attuned to the idea of "freedom" and "nature" being universally 'good'. His ascetic appearance and meditative pose connect him to the Magical Asian trope, and we expect such a wise, disciplined individual to also be 'good'. In the show and universe, airbending had always been associated with nomadism, pacifism, and spirituality. Zaheer clothes himself in the garb of nonviolence, but is a deeply violent individual who seeks the death of our protagonist and destruction of the world we love. He is an excellent character and a valuable lesson to viewers about the dangers of taking 'good' ideas to their extreme.
I like Zaheer and this video was well made but i'm not gonna lie i wish the fandom talk more about Tenzin as i think he is just as well written as Zaheer.
Solid breakdown, My brother gave up on Korra after season two, I'm still trying to convince him that season three was so much better, Such an amazing Villain especially after the previous book
While his politics of anarchy always seemed doomed to me for obvious reasons, Zaheer's point that the natural order is disorder always resonated with me from a strictly philosophical point of view. If you think about it, the essence of the universe boils down to particles in perpetual motion. They move out of necessity, which produces temperature from which all else follows. If particles didn't move, there would be no life, or anythin really. Life in general is nothing but motion. If this movement takes place, however, to ultimately balance the universe out successfully (which might be what happens, I'm not too sure about the science there, and whether this is the outcome scientists already predict), the final conclusion of this process is that nothingness, or death, sets in when it's over. So the absence of order, i.e. motion, is precisely the seed of all life, whereas order converges towards nothingness. Nothing needs to take place anymore if perfection is attained. Maybe it's kind of a trivial thought but to me it seems the Avatar fanbase never really has caught onto this very much. The criticism of Raava/Vaatu kind of acknowledges it to a degree, but not so much with Zaheer I feel like.
@@vetarlittorf1807 the spirit in the last airbender were mysterious and should have been apart from the the actual word in atla you don't see spirits offen and when you do they are cool but in legend of korra the are a silly and boring
Korra was never redeemed. They screwed it up. The connections to the original series were the best thing about Korra.. The concept was good but the execution and delivery was bad.
Did you agree with Zaheer's beliefs!?

Intersting video! It would be great if you continued making such videos.
my hate for season 2 knows no bounds and i will never understand how they actually built such an amazing season off the back of it
Season 2 finale is unforgivable
Season 4 finale is unforgettable

Let me know when that other video comes out. I agree that anarchy creates a power vacuum where a dictator will ultimately take over

Season 2 literally destroyed all the build up atla had on the avatar universe
i hate season 4 as much as i hate season 2
What build-up? Everything ATLA built up culminated in its own finale.

Chad Equalist vs beta Anarchist
The entire equalist platform was based on a lie to gain supporters. That's some sheep ass mentality.
Nah, invert it
I think Unalaq was supposed to be an enviromentalist but... eeh.. it didn't turn out so well
