Finally someone opened the memorandum. You have no idea how many people I've seen play this game are just completely ignore its existence and then be confused about what's going on or who anyone is or what the races are. Big props for actually being curious my guy.
I would argue that, just like with FFXIII, it's bad design if I have to read a Silmarillion to understand your world. I still like the game, and don't think the memoranda are actually needed to get it, as long as people actually pay attention.
@@HollowGolem agreed. If it's required it's too much. But like you said it isn't just a nice bonus. I also like how they story and mythos seem to be fairly original instead of just lifting the same generic fantasy elements you find everywhere where you wouldn't need any real explanation.
Fun fact, the protag's "canon name" can differ on the language. It seems like the common trend is a real-life ruler. For example, in Portuguese it is Pedro like the two emperors of Brazil who had that name.
However, even in other languages, that language's equivalent of "Will" or something similar is usually the canon name. For example, in German, the default name is "Wilhelm". In Japanese, it's "Wiru" (because of the whole thing with Japanese "L" and "R" sounds). In Korean, it's (also) "Will". And, in Chinese... it's very similar to "Will". It's phonetically spelled "Weier", but with a bunch of symbols that aren't on my keyboard. There are a few differences, primarily in non-English-speaking or non-Asian countries. In Spanish, it's "Victor". In Italian, it's "Victor". In Portuguese, it's "Pedro". And so on. Still, the fact the name is "Will" in both Japanese and English tells me the most canon name is "Will".
@@johnnorris5675 I think this "localization" problem is not a real problem... I even close to believe the Original Story is written in Latin, and then translated to the rest of langaje. you know... like the book.
Been here since the P5R playthrough, watching that was incredibly cool, seeing someone who doesn't play JRPGS pick one up and gradually fall in love with it I'm so excited to play this alongside you, enjoy the game!
MFW the demo is longer than some full priced games. The demo was way more fun than I expected and the differences from typical Atlus gameplay and especially enemy design were interesting. I really hope this game does well.
Also omg im so glad you are reading the "dictionary" , even if the game explains it somewhat , they never go into too much detail to not affect the pacing so seeing you read makes me so happy hahah
Yay that's awesome, P5R is still like my favourite single player game of all time haha so we shall see how this compares by the time we reach the end :D
Finally can join you on your journey, I was busy finishing up Trails through Daybreak before (which has a similar hybrid battlesystem) and looking forward to somewhat play along with you. This game seems to have you by the balls it seems, I mean the first area you run through is a desert area which you usually despise and you are even remarking how good it looks :D
Oh sorry I titled the part that cos it's like the inciting incident for the game haha, didn't think people might be searching for the difficulty setting lol

@@the7saviors276 Sun is a guy who really loves story and lore.
Agreed, the lore is actually pretty interesting

Haha thanks, yeah I love shit like this, so much to dig into!
You made the best playthrough 👌 👍
This demo's crazy I managed to squeeze 10 hours out of it, but that was with a lot of reading and experimentation with the combat
So happy they gave us such a big slice early!
Love recognising Dion's voice coming from Strohl within a single line lmao, great to see Stewart Clarke getting more work.
Oh nice! Yeah he's dope

but... St Thomas More is the writer of the "fantasy" world?
In Spanish we say it as "Sir Tomás Moro"

Glad to hear! :D

Only the demo... is just better than most of the "full" games released this year.
btw... I have 20hs of the demo and enven finish the secret Dungeon.
Reviews just dropped and it's doing incredibly well! 92 on Opencritic rn, love to see it. Terms like "Atlus' magnum opus" being thrown around :D
Yeah this is pretty hype
It's soooooo good haha I am adoring it

Yeah it's all definitely worth reading, has cleared a couple things up for me I wouldn't have quite got otherwise!
ohhh I was really hoping you were going to play this. Your P5R playthrough is how I found your channel and this has a very similar style.

Came here cause I wanted to see how hard regicide is but no one else is doing it😭
I think you can't pick regicide until you beat the game once. Either that or it's just locked in the demo

many ppl say that in JRPGs we fight gods at the final battle but im yet to play a JRPG in which i fight a god at the end... is it just me?
