UM THAT OPENING SCENE. THE OPENING CINEMATIC.UHHH I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS!!!! Nico, i am so excited!!! I've been excited for this game since the very early concept designs, but I have been avoiding reading or watching any previews or articles, anything like that. I can't wait to dive into it myself and watching your journey!!
More: My name is More. Bizzle: Sexmore? More: No, not quite. Bizzle: Moresex? More: Try again. Bizzle: *Ponders for a moment before inspiration strikes, followed by a snap of his fingers* Mansex! More: *Flabbergasted Wh-wha, how did you--, that's not even close to-- Xemnas: *Puts a hand on More's shoulder with a look that betrays a long held acceptance* You'll get used to it... Eventually.

Everyone in this game is so gosh dang pretty. The day transition with the prince is especially striking, gives me pause every time I see it no many how days go by.
Interesting detail about the human enemies. They're called homo (subspecies). Clearly, it's meant to hint at homo sapiens sapiens, our species' name, and yet, homo can mean "the same", as used in words like homogenous. I wonder if this is trying to say that these humans are, in a way, the same as these people in the game? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Nico: okay, here's how I'll decide on what to play today: I flip a coin. heads I play Metaphor today, tails I play Yakuza 5. **Flips coin and it lands perfectly vertical on its edge** Nico: **nudges coin and it lands on heads** …Aww yeah, LETS DO THIS!!!
Game- “Brings up anxiety a lot in this first episode.” Me- “Gee I wonder what the game’s central theme is?!?!?!” I love ATLUS games but man they have a tendency to beat you over the head with there main themes. Side note my copy of Metafore doesn’t come in until Tuesday AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
I would like to start this by saying I'm extremely excited to watch Nico play this game, I've tried my best to keep away from spoilers. And secondly what I'm about next is in no way a compliant about the voice acting of this game..... 1:05 When old King gasped I fucking lost it, and after he got stabbed I swear he moaned out "uh oh", again this is not a complaint. Honestly from little we've heard of voice it kind of reminds me Nico's Judge voice.
HERE WE GO! It’s finally time for this game and see what it has in store for us! I’ve been excited for the game from the first teaser and everything I’ve seen from the trailers and demo have hyped me up even more! I’m glad you are not pausing one of the other LPs for this series so I have more time to play the game before you get fully into it!
"Hello my name is More. Have you met my younger brother less? Or even better my nephew none." Also damn you nico i want to watch your playthrough but i still need to play the whole game myself 😢.
Really love how seemingly every human enemy in this game is just ripped straight out of The Garden of Earthly Delights. Seriously, look up the triptych, you'll find a ton of the enemies already seen in just this episode
Gruis death flag count: 1) Weathered old man going with a group of young do-gooders to fight what is likely the final, or penultimate boss of the game. 2) Is introduced after surviving a monster attack that had wiped out the entire garrison. 3) Doesn't get an alternate wardrobe outside of his army garb. 4) Doesn't get a cool awakening to an Archetype like the MC or Strohl. 5) Is encouraged by the game to equip the squishy Mage Archetype. Result: Gruis is literally wearing his death flags on his person, without realizing the implication of them.
MY MOST ANTICIPATED GAME THIS YEAR OMG!!!!!!!! Having watched nothing up to this point on this game, other than the trailers, I am so hyped for this let's play! And just that starting segment tells me that this game is going to be a treat and a half to watch through. I absolutely love the political intrigue it starts on before you even get to the title screen, really ramping up the epic you're going to be playing through. the story design already seems to be top notch on Atlus/Sega's end. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this!
Nico finallly gets to play a true Atlus Game. Why? Because of the Press Turn System. This marks Nico's very first Atlus game with a Press Turn System, which was first adopted in Shin Megami Tensei III: Noccturne. Basically, you start with a number of turns based on the number of party members on the battle, and the hitting a weakness or landing a crit activates a "Press", marking one of the icons on the upper left screen to light up/change to signify an extra turn. Racking up Presses will give you the most number of turns in battle. If you consume a turn normally, the icon above decreases instead, which lowers the number of turns you can spend in one round of battle. Missing an attack reduces the number of Turn Icons you have to none at all, giving the enemies their turn to attack immediately. The best part about this system? The enemies are also under the same Press Turn System, making them subject to the same rules as us players. This goes deep gameplay wise but the most important part to know about battles is to get as much Presses in one round by utilizing weaknesses and crits to whale on enemies or preparing buffs to defend against enemies. It surprises me that Nico took this long to finally experience Atlus' flagship game mechanic for most of their turn based games.
Fun fact: there are interactive restrooms later in the game just like in p3 reload. if you take a shit on days divisible by 5 you get a free stat point in luck.
Man im playing at the same time as you... I love the surrealism art that they took inspiration for this game's style. If you look up medieval surrealistic paintings you can see how the "Humans" so far are one to one! I have NO idea what most of this game's bosses will look like past the first chapter, yet I hope they are just as weird if not weirder.
The monsters in this game are actually based off of works from renaissance artist Hieronymus Bosch. His most famous work "Garden of Earthly Delights" has some figures that inspired the designs of two of this game's "human" enemies.
@LoneWolf982 Thanks for the name, I knew they looked familiar. I took an art appreciation class at my college aa course, so I have a unique fascination with odd art choices like these.
Nico how did you read my mind, I literally just looked up reviews of this game and was like, "This is something Nico would play, I can’t believe he hasn’t started a play through yet” not even two minutes later
I mean... he got to play an early version of it for 2 hours a few weeks ago, and did a live stream when the demo first came out up to the moment he got to from that 2 hours Combine that with the fact that he's always done two different playthroughs that rotate every other day, him playing this now is a big surprise, cause he's in the middle of a "big" jrpg, and is kinda sorta nearing the end of the other game. He almost never plays a game immediately on release unless if he finished a playthrough of something first and waited for the game to come out, or plays it on stream
Very hyped for when you get to this game, feels like something classic yet new. Gallica is really cute, best fairy companion. Not that that's a high bar but still true.
Me: Oh boy! Another night of Yakuza 5 with my favorite penguin king. *Nico uploads this video.* Also, me: "Did I just witness a time travel or a time skip?
Humans are actually the monsters? Who would had thought! Okay, in all honestly, I like that. It has great symbolism, especially with how this world is shown in parallel to ours.
I waited to watch this until i actually finished the game and now that i have it really is special. Feels weird that my 7 year wait for "project re fantasy" is over now. I can't wait for you to fully experience this game, its the closest thing to experiencing the game for the first time a second time for me. Side note this is the first press turn game you've actually played on the channel right, im interested what you will think of it by the end in comparison to personas one more system (i always preferred press turn)
How this game is rated T for teen and Persona is rated M is beyond me considering we see this, 15:08, in the first couple minutes of the game Also, lowkey Gallica being our built-in Spotify playlist for this game lol.
Simple. Persona has Mara. Automatic M rating! In all seriousness, blood and violence alone aren't really enough for an M rating. Persona 5 especially got rated M due to depictions of S*xual Ass*ult and attempted s*icide
I'm not familiar with Atlus' catalogue beyond Persona, but a friend of mine who is said that Metaphor is basically a culmination of EVERYTHING Atlus has done in the past 20 years. Persona of course, but also bits of other SMT spin offs, and even bits of Etrian Odyssey.
This is going to be an awesome LP. I’m maybe three hours past the demo and I can safely say this is going to be a heck of a ride. Probably gonna be my GOTY. If I might be so bold as to offer ONE tip. Be mindful of what Archetype you equip to the protagonist, as they determine how you attack in the field. Believe me, it makes more of a difference than you might think…
You'll probably notice that a majority of the cast is British, so there likely be not many voice actors you will recognize. The only ones I think aren't are the main character, Galica and More I believe. I think its a cool way to change things up to make it both familiar and new to Atlus game enjoyers :)
honestly kinda glad Atlus took the Xenoblade route here. It fits the setting and gives some much needed appreciation to more british VA's. My only wonder is if Adam Howden is in this game
From Dion to Leon. I like to imagine that from their shared sense of righteousness and noblesse oblige that Leon is Dion reincarnated. And is still totally gay and wanting to get with his new boyfriend, Bizzle. (Sorry Terence.)
I thought I had more time! What a fool I was… Welp *turns hat around* time to binge the game till I’m so far ahead I can be prepared for Nico moments! Didn’t have a good sleep schedule anyway!😂
Nico: "imagine this in our world, what if magic was that casual? man, I don't trust us with that much power" Me: "yeah, imagine if people could spend money to buy small objects that can fire instant death at other people with no regulation or need for qualification as long as they have the money. Good thing that would NEVER happen ahahahaha"
Wow, the protag of this game is pretty cool, wonder what his name is- *The name is Will* Wha- but... BUT THAT'S ME??? (I did freak out that a Japanese game protag has the same name most friends call me now tho, especially with one so popular now :D)

And so begins the epic tale of Makoto and Aigis’ son, Fairy Morgana, and Knight Yu Narukami!
Don’t forget Elf Mitsuru
Don’t forget Fairy Mona is the child of Yukari
Man, Yakuza 5 looking really different today, that twist last episode really changed Shinada huh?
The soundtrack on even the intro and title screen sound amazing. Really pumped to see how this goes
Nico be like: FUCK IT THREE LET'S PLAYS!
Ah, the mythical third running series has arrived?
I think it's been like years ago
@@multilad816I actually can't recall the last time he tried 3 lps at one time. I think its been 8 years+.
@@joshuabean7805it was actually 17 years ago
@@black-fenrir35 Hasn't he only been doing this for like 10 years, though?
Wait has nico done this before?
More: *Flabbergasted Wh-wha, how did you--, that's not even close to--
Xemnas: *Puts a hand on More's shoulder with a look that betrays a long held acceptance* You'll get used to it... Eventually.
Mysterious voice: Power awaits thy command. The time has come to awaken the hero within.
Bizzle: Ok lets go PERSONA!
**SUDDENLY SUMMONS ORPHEUS TO DEFEAT THE HUMAN AS IT'S GOING DOWN NOW SUDDENLY PLAYS OVER IT**
Gallica: WOOOOOO! LOOKING COOL BIZZLE!
Everyone in this game is so gosh dang pretty. The day transition with the prince is especially striking, gives me pause every time I see it no many how days go by.
omg my own copy literally just came through the door in the first 5 mins of watching this 😭so hyped
**Flips coin and it lands perfectly vertical on its edge**
Nico: **nudges coin and it lands on heads** …Aww yeah, LETS DO THIS!!!
Game- “Brings up anxiety a lot in this first episode.”
Me- “Gee I wonder what the game’s central theme is?!?!?!”
I love ATLUS games but man they have a tendency to beat you over the head with there main themes.
Side note my copy of Metafore doesn’t come in until Tuesday AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Oh boy yakuza time! How could I forget that time Kiryu and friends went to another world to stop the yakuza
I think when the protagonist is waving when he’s running, he’s actually waving to Gallica
So incredibly excited to get super into this game and your let's play, hoping for a 70 parter with this one
Really love how seemingly every human enemy in this game is just ripped straight out of The Garden of Earthly Delights. Seriously, look up the triptych, you'll find a ton of the enemies already seen in just this episode
Gonna be getting a lot of character voices from you Nico.
I can't believe Captain Klinger burned down nibelheim
I'm pretty sure that this game is available on Playstation 5 at least, since I saw it promoted on the Playstation Store.
yes
Gruis death flag count:
1) Weathered old man going with a group of young do-gooders to fight what is likely the final, or penultimate boss of the game.
53:16 Well that's sure not our world.
Metaphor is helmed by Hashino who also was responsible for SMT: Nocturne right?
@@ZephyrK. Yeah Katsuara Hashino is also the director for SMT III: Nocturne.
This game is a blast to play, I hope you have as much fun as I am currently, Nico!
Nico how did you read my mind, I literally just looked up reviews of this game and was like, "This is something Nico would play, I can’t believe he hasn’t started a play through yet” not even two minutes later
I mean... he got to play an early version of it for 2 hours a few weeks ago, and did a live stream when the demo first came out up to the moment he got to from that 2 hours
Combine that with the fact that he's always done two different playthroughs that rotate every other day, him playing this now is a big surprise, cause he's in the middle of a "big" jrpg, and is kinda sorta nearing the end of the other game. He almost never plays a game immediately on release unless if he finished a playthrough of something first and waited for the game to come out, or plays it on stream
Very hyped for when you get to this game, feels like something classic yet new. Gallica is really cute, best fairy companion. Not that that's a high bar but still true.
Me:
Oh boy! Another night of Yakuza 5 with my favorite penguin king.
*Nico uploads this video.*
Also, me:
"Did I just witness a time travel or a time skip?
Time for another round of "can I keep ahead of Nico to avoid being spoiled?"
From what I've played so far, this is gonna be something truly special.
You can get a head start. He’s gotta finish Yakuza 5 before continuing.
@@oreotaku4017 I'm gonna need it.
As a human myself, I can confirm that I am not a gigantic abomination like those things that call themselves “human”.
How this game is rated T for teen and Persona is rated M is beyond me considering we see this, 15:08, in the first couple minutes of the game
Also, lowkey Gallica being our built-in Spotify playlist for this game lol.
Simple. Persona has Mara.
Automatic M rating!
In all seriousness, blood and violence alone aren't really enough for an M rating. Persona 5 especially got rated M due to depictions of S*xual Ass*ult and attempted s*icide
"Bullshit. Gallica, play Shadows Rising." [walks away without looking back]
A surprise to be certain, but a welcome one, I'm genuinely interested in seeing this game before I decide to possibly buy it.
I feel that the more I play this game, the more that becomes apparent.
2 and a half hours trying to beat an enemy that wasn't sapotes to be beaten yet
only thing gained was a complement
Worth it
Game developers: No power leveling here!
I’ve gotten pretty far into the game so far, I am very excited to see how Nico reacts to some of the things I have experienced so far.
Three Let's plays at a time? Inconceivable!
Am I the only one who actually prefers the ambush battle song to the advantage battle music?
The song in the royal capital reminds me of the song in Lindblumes castle from FF9 a bit. I think its called "Cid's theme" from FF9
I’m very excited for this lets play! Don’t have the means to play Metaphor myself so I’m excited to see your playthrough
Damn that's been the weirdest Yakuza 5 episode so far! Even for Yakuza standards!
We could always just imagine that Will (protag) is Terence reincarnated.
@@KeeperOfUntoldDreams Absolutely!
I thought I had more time! What a fool I was…
Welp *turns hat around* time to binge the game till I’m so far ahead I can be prepared for Nico moments!
Didn’t have a good sleep schedule anyway!😂
Humans, the Deadlines of beasts in the most dangerous Beast of all is that sexy man right there.
Damn, i love the moment when Shinada reunited with famous Persona 3 protagonist Makoto Yuki after 15 years
Nico: "imagine this in our world, what if magic was that casual? man, I don't trust us with that much power"
Me: "yeah, imagine if people could spend money to buy small objects that can fire instant death at other people with no regulation or need for qualification as long as they have the money. Good thing that would NEVER happen ahahahaha"
Wow, the protag of this game is pretty cool, wonder what his name is-
*The name is Will*
Wha- but... BUT THAT'S ME???
(I did freak out that a Japanese game protag has the same name most friends call me now tho, especially with one so popular now :D)
Ah yes, our main, quiet character TALKS WITH ACCEPTABLE LEVELS OF VERBOSITY
man, what a time to be alive for a new Atlus RPG huh?
Metaphor is also on Playstation both PS4 and PS5. It is NOT an xbox console exclusive.
Atlus not releasing something for PlayStation would be a top 10 anime betrayals for sure
@@DanielPereira-ey9ntThey have quite a few Nintendo only games, and in fact one Xbox only SMT game. (That also never left Japan.)
As soon as you said mister kitty my cat came down the stairs and stared at me, Is perfect timing
